I'd say we've made strides in getting posters to commit to a culture of discussion rather than insult. Laughable. Meaning it's a lost cause. Some slip quickly back into their old habits which end up shitting all over the thread. Anyone else notice it seems to be the same people causing the same issues? No? You've just taught people (mostly) to be sneering, insulting and mocking towards the words others write, rather than directly insulting them. People don't say "You're a moron!" instead they say "That's a moronic thing to say!" It's still insulting, derogatory and disrespectful. And yes, I'm as guilty of it as many others, but that is the environment in which we all operate here. The above is not to deny there are many direct personal insults here, too. Basically, any post which contains "YOU" in an address to the other poster is probably insulting. Rarely do people say anything GOOD about each other, after all. My own personal opinion is there are a lot more insults and a lot less civility in discussions than there was ten years ago. There are also more lunatics and conspiracy kooks. People don't come because too many people just make snide remarks and very little actual discussion is going on. I will be putting a stop to that if I can. I will reviewing every single post on this forum and reporting any and all personal attacks I see. Lets all work to keep this forum a fun and safe place to be! I agree as multiple accounts is against the rules so if the mods can prove that a member has more than one account then they should be banned. Other members pointing fingers isn't proof. I particularly liked how your very first post in this forum was about punctuation and proper grammar... it was as if you came on the forum and yelled out "Look at me... I'm not Socialist"!!! I look at them mostly when I'm on business on my laptop in various locations. I've seen this forum go downhill to a degree with the increase in personal attacks and other types of posting that cannot foster good discussion. I don't want people associating me with someone else. For the record I have no idea who this other poster even is. Socialist and I are seemingly alter-egos of each other because we seem to be somewhat opposite of each other. I do agree with some of his points. He claims to be a teacher in school. Other than that I don't know much about him. Seems like a nice guy in the chat area of the forum. Yes I lurked but never took the plunge of actually joining the site. I would just read the forum on my phone and laptop or tablet without being signed in. But just finally had some time this week so I decided to join up. Next week I'll be very busy with work so I won't have time to be here as much. On the one hand he wants civil discourse while posting largely crappy things and thoughts, and gets called out on them The he runs for the mods (he told me he has reported every post I made) But then he is in the status thingy on the side saying he teaches his son to hit back and doesnt want to raise a pussy.
