Keepitsimple Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 My opinion is for a guy who is labelled as lazy, inarticulate, egotistical, entitled, born to riches, prone to mistakes, and obviously not a leader, I wonder why both the NDP and Conservatives seem to spend so much time criticizing him. A person with all of those weaknesses and lacking all those leadership skills and the leader of the 3rd party, why are those on both the right and left spending so much time on him? He can't be a threat of leading the Liberals to a victory in the next election - can he? Pretty simple. Almost frantically so, he is being kept in a protective shell by his handlers and the Backroom Boys......so it's up to the Conservatives - but especially the NDP to alert Canadians......not to just accept the shiny bauble that the media and Liberals present - but to really look and start to ask questions. Lets face it, if he had anything of substance to offer, he'd be talking with reporters - at least as much as Mulcaire is.....and trying to actually build on his "natural" assets - name, youth, and looks. As time goes on, I suspect the shine on this bauble will steadily erode as he is forced to confront Canadians in real time - as opposed to scripted media moments and photo ops. Quote Back to Basics
bleeding heart Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 I have not had much to say about Trudeau, and don't even yet know how I feel about him.... .....however, if someone put a gun to my head, and said "Talk!"....I would be inclined to roughly agree with Keepitsimple's post. The man is not impressing me. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver." --Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007
eyeball Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 Yes but since you're not with the cons you must be with the child molesters. Sorry I don't make up the rules I just try to avoid them. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
bleeding heart Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 I'm trying to distinguish between "child molesters," and those who screech at me, "It's either us or the child molesters!" and I'm afraid I'm finding the line less than crystal clear. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. PIK Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) I respect your prediction. However, with the trend being set in the recent by-elections, there is now way the CPC win.And how many times have we heard that. First is harper can not win with the reform party and then harper can not merge the parties and then harper will never win as PM and will never win a majority. That has been the mistake the left keeps making, and I see it has not changed. Obama is going down as a huge failure so I don't know why people are using him as a example on how to lead. And people are going to tire of trudeau's constant gaffs and lack of understanding what goes on in the real world. Harper majority. PIK Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) I'm sticking with a (slightly) larger Tory majority based on economic news/tax breaks targeted at middle income Canadians, the new seats and vote splitting.......As to the by-elections, as often mentioned, said elections are often used as a tool by the public to “send a message” and protest the sitting Government……As evident by the most recent ones, the Tories will have to learn to update their nomination procedures so as to prevent a disgruntled son of a former Tory MP running as a Liberal……Other then that, status quo……. A few months ago I was certain we’d see the Trudeau Liberals displace the NDP as the official opposition, but it seems once Trudeau really starts opening his gab and out farts rainbows and unicorns, it will ultimately be up to Mulcair to lose his current title……Flakiness alone, Trudeau would be a better fit as leader of the NDP flying circus, well the more grown-up Mulcair, the moderate centrists in the Liberal Party. You forgot the pixie dust that he will sprinkle over the budget so it will balance itself. Times are tough enough without having someone with no idea what he is doing at the wheel. It is his advisors you have to watch out for, because there is no way in hell trudeau can make any desicion on anything with out being told what it means. Harper can talk shop with any leader with out being told what to say. Right now he has larry summers on board who was a failure with the obama gov, just print more money. Yes summers is a american democrat. And I see spence's BF has been charged and if it leads to more charges with spence herself ,the people that ran to her for photo-ops will have some egg and thier face. Topaz Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 IF the next election is truly a honest election, then I can't see the Tories winning. Just like other Tory PM's and Liberals PM's. its time to go, voters always want change. I think it will be a minority government for any of the parties. The closer the time comes the better to tell. Some reporters think Harper would call an early election, if Duffy scandal goes to trial. Quote

You captured the perfect comment that DerekL would typically make that's a little over the top. Sounds like he could really dish it out, but really couldn't take it could he! Anyways, your conservative Harper government just traded places with the liberals and the NDP gained a little. Proving that the liberals are weak and they only gathered strength from the swing conservatives. Good luck hanging on those swingers! WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! cindi Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 Time will tell. I am predicting a conservative minority, but what do I know. The way they have been ducking and dodging the whole senate scandal it's not hard to deduce they don't want the truth to come out as it could at trial, at least not on the eve of an election with polls already not of their liking. But I find it odd that you found one of his over the top comments to highlight. Either way, there's a new poll out with the conservatives trading place with the liberals. Bryan Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 there's a new poll out with the conservatives trading place with the liberals. I will search for it and post it here. This one? Conservatives lead Liberals, NDP among both eligible and likely voters in April | Angus Reid Global Likely voters: CPC 34 -- LPC 29 -- NDP 27 Quote
Smallc Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 That's not unexpected. The Conservatives, despite their difficulties (mostly terrible appointments) look like adults in a room full of children. Quote

Don't hold your breath, all the poll proves is that there are "swing voters" out there jumping between the conservatives and liberals. Also proves that the NDP strength is solid and slowly creeping up! Conservatives are providing lots of attack add material that is going to come home and roost soon enough my friend, patience. On Guard for Thee Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 That's not unexpected. The Conservatives, despite their difficulties (mostly terrible appointments) look like adults in a room full of children. Obviously you haven't watched QP lately. Harper constantly looks like a little kid with his fingers caught in the cookie jar when Mulcair pins his ears back with a question that focuses a light on him that makes him wiggle. The he drones on about "I've been very clear Mr. Speaker" and the house erupts into laughter. Wait until the senate scandal ends up in court! Quote
Smallc Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Not many people watch or care about question period, and you usually come away with different views depending on where you started from. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I would like to come away with different views. Unfortunately Harper's performance is fairly constant and tells me he is constantly hiding. I wouldn't care except I'm paying him and he's running the country into the dirt. Quote
Smallc Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 You're not a Conservative. That's exactly the kind of impression I'd expect you to come away with. Quote
