  1. I have often wondered why Harper is considered a religious zealot when he never ever discusses his religion. Trudeau and other leaders go to church professing to be Roman Catholics, a religion that has some pretty far out beliefs. e.g. transubstantiation and is zealously anti abortion. Why is Harper treated differently ?
  2. Justin Trudeau has gone against his religion so technically should be excommunicated.
  3. I watched it and thought Hudak won although there was no knock out punch. I did like the NDP promising to remove the HST from Hydro bills, they could have hammered home a lot more on the mismanagement of Hydro. Wynne evaded all questions sticking to the party talking points, bad form IMO. I did dislike the way both Wynne and Horwath misrepresented Hudak's plan to cut jobs. As reckless as they make it out to be, it is over a period of years by attrition, retirement and contracting out. Even after he explained it they continued to misrepresent it omitting the fact that Liberals increased the civil service by 300,00. Too bad he didn't interrupt them to call them. guess that is not allowed. If Wynne is voted in, Ontario is doomed.
  4. It does look that way. We now have Unifor which represents the media taking out ads against the conservatives, freedom of speech and all but I do wonder why 3rd parties aren't subject to the same financial constraints as politicians during a campaign. Surely that would be fair.
  5. Don't be silly, they are allready in 'camps' some of them armed.
  6. So it's no pro-lifers, no one who disagrees with him on global warming - what's next, no one who agrees with Israel need apply !!
  7. Indeed, this is threats of domestic terrorism. I believe it would be a big mistake to give the Chiefs or Bands control and use of this money which no doubt would be funneled away from education. The best way to improve the lives of Natives is through education to the same provincial standards and curriculum as everyone else. They can add their own aboriginal culture etc. to the program.
  8. I haven’t seen any mention of the Liberals cutting the Walkerton Clean Water Centre funding by $1 million a year in I think 2011, guess she forgot to mention it. How hypocritical is that. I do believe Hudak made a mistake pegging the cuts so high but what hasn’t been mentioned is that the Liberals increased civil service jobs by 300,000.
  9. Good point. Sometimes I think we or some people tend to hold the perception that aboriginal culture is somehow superior to others and that we should enshrine it forever in perpetuity based on racial ancestry. Why should anyone of us rely on a sparse recollection of a diminutive connection fo people dead for decades or centuries in order to claim special privileges. Seems to me this is all tribalism triumphant. Having said that, I do not believe that the gov't has been 'ignoring' aboriginals', in fact I am sure I've read that this government has spent more on aboriginal funding and treaties than others.
  10. I watched a bit of QP today, I thought he got pretty red faced and defensive, he also spoke in French as a deflective measure. He says he’s done nothing wrong, isn’t that what they all say ? Well sure, but look at this, http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/05/15/ndp-guy-caron-mailings-offices_n_5327905.html?ir=Politics The NDP is not above doing whatever it takes but it appears to me some people want to whitewash what they do. They are political animals after all.
  11. Hey - this one is worth a read (am I allowed to post this) it is a pretty good synopsis and sure confirms that we should not believe everything we read in the media. It was pretty much an organized witch hunt. IMO and I'm sticking with it. http://www.genuinewitty.com/2014/04/26/robocall-scandal-an-insiders-view-of-the-lefts-embarrassing-fraud-feat-leadnow/
  12. IMO the report makes it clear that there was no fraud or conspiracy, even if there is a belief that they ‘obstructed’ the investigation. There wasn't anything to find, it was all wind and hot air. It’s obvious that because the findings are not what some wanted to hear, they will continue with the allegations. Innuendo and allegations are what caused this in the first place (Guelph aside). Conspiracy theorists have been in overdrive but the bottom line is that out of 40,000 complaints 96% came from one source complaining about what they had read in the papers. I suppose there will always be those who think they know more and some of the media will continue to push it, but it’s over. There was no grand scheme at all, but never mind carry on if it keeps you merry. It's opinion and I'm sticking with it. http://www.ipolitics.ca/2014/04/24/robocalls-the-conspiracy-theory-goes-poof/ The Canadian Robocall Affair may yet be filed under ‘History’s Greatest Hysterias’, next to the Tanganyika Laughter Epidemic of 1962 and the Dancing Plague of Strasbourg, France, in 1518.
  13. He references this http://www.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?DocId=6508827&Language=E&Mode=1&Parl=41&Ses=2 http://www.canada.com/story_print.html?id=ea75bcfe-916d-4158-9cb6-bf0890ca9169 I guess if you believe Elections Canada, then you have to believe their robo call verdict right, or is E.C. only correct when you want it to be.
  14. What about Muslim countries with their State religion and sharia law which are theocracies, is that right for them or is it an exception too. Why should Britain have to make changes to accommodate atheists et al. No one is forced to be Anglican or believe in any religion and neither is Britain a theocracy so no one loses out, it's all part of their history based on the Magna Carta really. John, by the grace of God King of England, Lord of Ireland, Duke of Normandy and Aquitaine, and Count of Anjou, to his archbishops, bishops, abbots, earls, barons, justices, foresters, sheriffs, stewards, servants, and to all his officials and loyal subjects, greeting. Know that before God, for the health of our soul and those of our ancestors and heirs, to the honour of God, the exaltation of the holy Church, and the better ordering of our kingdom etc. etc. . http://www.bl.uk/treasures/magnacarta/translation/mc_trans.html
