ReeferMadness Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 Well, just checking a little bit of world war history, it would seem that "batshit crazy" is/was not a requirement. God Save the Queen and all that jazz ! No....you are confused. Neither Bachmann or Ellison can "bring about the rapture", whatever that means in your mind. They both can vote to raise taxes, but Bachmann is far less likely to support a tax increase of any kind. If it makes you feel any better, the "apocalypse" will be initiated by "mainstream" elected representatives and their confirmed appointees. They will use nuclear weapons developed from enriched, weapons grade uranium that originally came from.....wait for it...CANADA !! Again, you're dancing around the topic and avoiding the question. Are you still saying it's crazier to raise taxes than bring about the apocalypse? bush_cheney2004 Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 Again, you're dancing around the topic and avoiding the question. Are you still saying it's crazier to raise taxes than bring about the apocalypse? Politically...yes. Remember George Bush Sr. ? "Read my lips: No More Taxes". This probably cost him the election. There is no "apocolypse" or "rapture", so stop worrying about it. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

There is no "apocolypse" or "rapture", so stop worrying about it. Oh, you meant "politically" crazier. Because you don't think there's going to be an apocalypse. Because you have confidence that the less crazy elements in Washington will continue to outnumber the batshit-crazies like Bachmann? Is that your thesis? So you didn't really mean that it's crazier to hope for new taxes than hope for the apocalypse. That was just your way of being rhetorical and trying to divert attention from the fact that your favorite party includes lunatics who probably should be institutionalized. THERE IS NO "APOCALYPSE" !! Do Canadians like you wake up each day worried about a U.S. initiated "APOCALYPSE" ? Now that is irrational ! So you didn't really mean that it's crazier to hope for new taxes than hope for the apocalypse. That was just your way of being rhetorical and trying to divert attention from the fact that your favorite party includes lunatics who probably should be institutionalized. No, as explained several times now, there is no "APOCALYPSE". Taxes, jobs, economy, health care, defense...these are political currency, not the "APOCALYPSE". Has nothing to do with hope either. Strange...... Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Why don't you look at the thread title and reconsider that question. This all came up because you guys are chock-a-block with nuclear weapons and right-wing fundamentalist types, many of whom happen to be politicians. Bad mix. Guess who is the USA's 'little buddy' with lots more uranium to sell ? It is irrational to worry about an "APOCALYPSE" because of the religious beliefs of elected members of the U.S. Congress. Do you think nuclear weapons are blessed with 'holy water' ? If and when the U.S. (and friends) decide to "end the world", it will be for far more practical reasons ! Guest American Woman Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 Can you see her with someone telling her Iran is acting up? "GET ME THE NUKULAR CODES! PRAISE JESUS! iT'S THE END OF TIMES! I'M GOING TO YOU LORD! Since I'm sure she has been told that "Iran is acting up," do you have any proof that this was her reaction? Do you have any proof that anything close to this has been her political reaction regarding anything? As I've pointed out, the quotes in the OP are from a Christian Radio show, ie: not the House floor. Not a political setting. If you have any proof that any of her political decisions have been based on what you claim above, I'd be very interested in links to your sources. And what do you think Bachmann was ever able to do for her constituents politically? Do you have a list of bills she passed? What positive influence did she have on the lives of her constituents? You'd have to ask her constituents that. There are 435 Representatives and 100 Senators. I don't have a list of the bills that all of them had passed nor knowledge of what positive influence they've all had on the lives of their constituents. It's why districts vote for their Representatives. Her political stands are those of a shrill, angry person full of hate for anyone who doesn't completely agree with her. She is the voice of utter intolerance, of total corporate freedom to do whatever they want, and no assistance whatsoever for the sick, the poor or the old. You're saying that lots of Americans think that political stance is great? That just gets back to my question about why so many Americans are so extreme. That's your opinion of her which I have no desire to argue or refute, but I'm saying no such thing. She doesn't represent "Americans" et al, she represents the Americans in her Congressional District at best. Furthermore, people can like some aspects of a politician's stance while not liking others. I know I sure don't agree with all of the stances of the politicians that I vote for. Last but not least, as I've pointed out, she received just over 179,000 votes, which any way you look at it, is not evidence at all that "so many Americans are so extreme." That's 179,000 out of 312,000,000. She in no way represents and/or speaks for "America" any more than any of the other 535 members of Congress singularly represent and/or speak for America. Perhaps that vast of a population is difficult for some to comprehend and put into perspective. Quote

Shady Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 I see that some of you are still distracted by shiny objects. I don't understand the focus on irrelevant issues, such as something said by a congresswoman who isn't even running for re-election. Try and actually focus on important things, instead of feigning some pathetic Canadian pseudo-superiority. It's ridiculous. Especially in the wake of the president of the United States lying to millions of Americans regarding their health insurance. Some of you people need to grow the eff up. Quote

Shady Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 Also, I would think that a website that has run 300% over budget and still doesn't work, which is necessary to work in order for people to enroll as to not get fined by the government is kind of a big deal. Quote

Shady Posted November 7, 2013 Report Posted November 7, 2013 Yep. I would say getting mesmerized by the topic of glitches of a new website is definitely focusing on a "shiny object". Get back when you find focus. Does running 300% over budget count as a glitch? How about, the latest count of 4 million people losing their health insurance because it can't be grandfathered in, like promised, because of a 2010 regulation that made it almost impossible for grandathering to even take place? Is that a glitch? How about 90% of most of the states enrollment into Obamacare is for medicaid, free government health care, so as a result, there aren't any young healthy people enrolling, which will make premiums for the people that are, sky high. Is that also a glitch? Quote

I know, I know--you only despise and ridicule something more than half the nation....... Yep, I'm obsessed. I guess because without a strong, growing American economy, our economy will always be stuck in slow growth at best. And when I see an economic illiterate as president, causing harm, and making strong economic growth impossible, I don't like it all that much. Because ultimately, it effects our pocketbook just as much. Perhaps you people should really learn that. Talby Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 I want to put a mildly different twist on the whole Bachmann thing. Consider this "Bachmann/Palin 2016" Now who can disagree to that? The agenda from hell as it was called, and so it was. What has he done? Continued to accumulate more debt? Obama is incompetent... which may be better than the alternative (crazy), but it's still nothing that deserves praise. Obamacare will become as much of a blessing to the US as our socialized health care system has been in Canada for over 50 years. How do you figure? Obamacare is a crappy patch on a broken healthcare system. All it does is force more people into the broken insurance market and let insurance companies raise premiums as high as they want since people are now required by law to purchase their products. It's just a giant giveaway of public money to health insurance companies, much like the bailouts were a giveaway to Wall street. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 I flew medevac helicopters for a couple of years. I was advised during that time there was a new law that could hold me criminally responsible if I flew your broken body ,from let's say a car accident, over Brand A hospitsl that could treat you, to get to Brand B hospital which was where your health credit card worked, which was paying for the very aircraft you were riding in, even though you might spend maybe 20 minutes more without good care. Now I'm not a medic so one hospital is more or less the same to me. That's a sick system. I realize a lot of American's have this horrible fear of anything truly socialized, but that's their problem. But I'm only wondering if and why those who denounce Republicans--or perish the thought, both parties--are anti-American, while those concentrating their ire on the Democrats are not. It's not an issue for me; I'm curious is all. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave.
