kimmy Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 So apparently they're saying that when he turns around (at around 35 seconds into the video) the officer was justified in believing that Dillon was attempting to take a weapon out of his pocket, and therefore the shooting was self defense. huh. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

"Cop killing spree" is just drama, and not very good drama at that. Anybody with common sense should know that while it's okay to give cops permission to shoot people who draw guns on them it make little sense to give cops permission to shoot people who they think might possibly have a weapon and might possibly have the intent to draw on them at some point in time... Secondly, what with these people always getting in the cop's faces? That girl was told to leave a number of times and just kept pushing and pushing. For a race of people that claim to be afraid of police, they sure seem fine with calling them names and not listening. Third, if I had a bunch of youths surround me like that cop faced, I'd pull my weapon too. Bryan Posted June 9, 2015 Report Posted June 9, 2015 Talking about 2 different situations - my bad. The other one? The cop's behaviour is unacceptable too, just to a much lesser degree. If he gets fired, that would suffice for me. Quote
kimmy Posted July 30, 2015 Report Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) This incident is the latest flash-point: “It was a senseless, asinine shooting,” Mr. Deters said at a news conference, using stark terms to denounce the July 19 episode, Officer Tensing’s claims about it and the officer himself. “This office has probably reviewed upwards of 100 police shootings, and this is the first time we’ve thought, ‘This is without question a murder.’ ” -k Edited July 30, 2015 by kimmy Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

Black Dog Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 There's been some more trouble in Ferguson on the anniversary of the Michael Brown shooting. Cops shot a young man during a set of protests after he (police say) shot at them. The super SMRT police union also chose that day to declare "Darren Wilson Day". Then during the hubub a bunch of heavily-armed white dudes showed up at the protests to just....hang out? Which makes one wonder what would happen if a bunch of black dudes turned up openly carrying semi-automatic weapons and handguns. Just kidding! This is what happens when cops think black dudes are armed: On Monday night, a group of at least three black men who were standing by a car next to a hair salon on West Florissant Avenue were arrested after a phalanx of St Louis County police surged towards them, using pepper spray and batons. A spokesman for the police department told the Guardian by email on Tuesday that officers had received information “that the occupants or folks near that vehicle were possibly armed with handguns”. But the spokesman later confirmed that none of those arrested during the swoop were in possession of any weapons. Quote

kimmy Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Allegations that the Chicago cops destroyed evidence in the shooting of that guy: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-chicago-cop-shooting-laquan-mcdonald-met-20151127-story.html The officers stayed on the scene until almost midnight and even brought in their own information technology specialist when it appeared they were having trouble operating the system, Darshane said. The equipment had been in perfect working order for weeks before the shooting, Darshane said. But the next morning, Burger King discovered the 86-minute gap when investigators with the Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates police shootings, sought to make a DVD copy of the surveillance video. Missing was any footage from 9:13 p.m. to 10:39 p.m., Darshane said. When the video system kicked back on, it recorded two police officers in the Burger King office who appeared to be looking at something on the monitor over and over, according to Michael Robbins, an attorney representing McDonald's family. "It is curious," Robbins said. "If they got there and turned it on and found that there was no video, what were they looking at for two hours?" -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
