Rob Ford, mayor of Toronto UPDATES

WWWTT

Recommended Posts

Never heard of the mayor of the city of where an event was being held to be "asked to leave" before! (or any politician or notable for that matter)

Ford must have done something very serious to be asked to leave!

WWWTT

Apparently there are other sources that say he was fine. Just like with the Sarah Thompson thing it's all about hearsay.

Agreed,we''ll see what unfolds from this.

Keep in mind, that if the Toronto Star is misleading or fabricating,Ford can successfully sue them.

But he may want to avoid going under a stronger microscope.

Thanks for posting the link.

In it Tory does say that Ford should sue the Star if the story is not true, but once again failure to do so is almost like(or can be perceived to be an) an admission of guilt.

Right The Star had never made up stuff about the mayor before. Wait they do!

Heard Douglas Holloway on the radio regarding this issue. He was pretty pissed. Apparently there are only "unnamed sources" that verify these. claims of alcoholism.

If the Star is lying about all this stuff, Ford can sue. They have the resources for a legal fight.

So if you don't count the drunk driving thing, the time he verbally abused a couple while in the bag at a Leafs game, the 9-11 call around Christmas time when his Mother-in-law reported he was loaded, the multiple pictures of him around town looking like completely shittered Tommy Boy or buying cheap mickeys at the LCBO, why, he's practically a teetotaler!

Sort of like how Sarah Thompson should have had him charged with sexual assault.

Just heard Ford on the radio and he called then liars and challenged them to sue him.

Oh man that's freekin funny!!!

Ford is challenging the Star to sue him for him calling the Star liars!

Sounds like something someone who is drunk would say.

So much for Ford's lawsuit against the Star.

It sounds like Ford has slandered the Star in calling them "liars" and is challenging the Star to sue him for doing so.

It's actually funny and somewhat immature to say something like this?

As well it's apparent that Ford has now slipped down to a point where it will be very difficult for him to pull out of.

I was thinking the same sentiments about the Toronto Star, particularly after the display they put on yesterday at the ceremony honouring George Cheuvalo.

http://www.nowtoronto.com/news/story.cfm?content=191768

Instead of honoring a boxing legend, the Star turned the ceremony into a circus. Instead of talking about his boxing career, Chuvalo stood at the podium and talked about his support for Ford and vouch for his character. This ongoing display by the Star is pathetic and unprofessional.

We have a city councillor who was at the event who confirms the Stars' version of events. We have three members of council publicly acknowledging that Ford's drinking is a well-known issue in the corridors of City hall. On top of that we have his history. But sure, the Star is just making stuff up out of whole cloth.

I think that you should have to prove to us that you don't have a substance problem. How do we know you don't?

Questioning and harassing a boxing legend about unrelated garbage during an award presentation intended to honor him does not fit the description of sound journalistic practice in my opinion. It's disrespectful and sad, and it only serves to make the Star look bad.

All in all, it is tacky that the Star use that time to Q his Honour.

However, his Honour brings this on himself by refusing to speak to the Star.

Well, and all the other crap he gets up to that distracts from the business of running the city. At this point, though, you almost feel like the scandals are being cultivated by Team Ford to deflect attention from how rudderless and idealess his administration is.

It does seem like these scandals are being cultivated, but not sure by whom.

I dunno why Ford's fanboys seem to continue to avoid the uncomfortable reality that the scandals he's been involved in would be easily avoided by all but the most slow-witted politician. Does he get a kick out of running risks? Or is he just too dumb to know any better?

Then their sales will take a hit?No?

Either way,Ford brought this on himself.
