GostHacked Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 You think shouting down a politician in public is something just some average guy would do? You ever watch any Parliament sessions? They shout each other down all the time. Rob Ford has done that in city council sessions, so I say have at him in public. If he was not such a buffoon, he would not be famous for any reason. I'd do it. Might be the only way to really have your voice heard. And well, it's a free country right? Quote
Boges Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Four months is a very long time to stay sober. Be shocked if we didn't end up with another episode before election day. Sure it'll be interesting to see if he can stay sober. Everyone loves a comeback story though. He's finally admitted it. Again I think the guy is a trainwreck, but we'll see. Quote
WWWTT Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 You show enough people swearing and yelling at Ford and it turns him into a persecuted underdog which I believe is the game plan. They are now trying to repackage him as a victim with remorse. It does get a sympathy vote. People do feel for the underdog. Will it get him elected who knows. I do not under-estimate the sympathy I've no skin in this Dog and Pony Show, but I agree, the nastiness applied to Ford by his opponents, right or wrong, could very well get him re-elected..........I would think the best game plan for both Chow and Tory is to ignore him. Good luck with those game plans! WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! WWWTT Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 The more people attempt to publicly dress down RoFo the more he can portray himself as a victim in public. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Black Dog Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Ford scales back comeback media blitz Turns out it’ll be two media outlets. Rob Ford conducted interviews on Wednesday with CBC, which challenged him on his dishonesty and racist slurs, and with CP24. He also cancelled at least three other planned appearances, two with television journalists and one a rare session with a newspaper reporter. An hour before the CBC interview, he called off an interview with CTV. Later in the day, he abandoned interviews scheduled for Thursday with CityNews and the Toronto Sun. His comeback blitz appears to be over. “We feel the mayor has said everything,” Sun reporter Don Peat, on Twitter, quoted an unnamed member of the mayor’s staff as saying. "We didn't realize these assholes were going to be asking questions!" continued the staffer. Quote
Mighty AC Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Rather than feeding the sympathy that may sway some very delusional voters mayoral candidates should just challenge RoFo to stay clean and sober for a full 4 year term before asking for the keys to the city again. Something along the lines of "Mr. Mayor, considering the embarrassment your dishonest and illegal actions have caused the city, your family and supporters, don't you think it wise that you prove you can stay clean and sober for a full term before running for the top seat again?" guyser Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 With these cancellations of interviews the stress must be building and causing the Ford Bro's some concern. As a person I hope he succeeds in getting clean and sober. As my Mayor I hope he slips back and crashes and burns. It appears the only way for us to be rid of him. Quote
Big Guy Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Approximately 90% of alcoholics experience at least one relapse in the four years following treatment. Similar relapse rates occur for recovering smokers and heroin addicts, suggesting that many addictive behaviors may share the same behavioral, biochemical, and cognitive components. http://www.alcoholmd.com/alcoholrelapse.htm The following are causes of relapse following rehab; * The individual was not serious about changing their life. They may have entered rehab in order to please other people or get themselves out of trouble. * The person was not adequately prepared for the transition from rehab to home. The move from a protected environment to familiar temptations can be overwhelming if the individual is not ready for it. * Some people leave rehab with the idea that their work is done, and that their success is now guaranteed. Their failure to appreciate that the real work only begins after rehab means that they do not make it through early recovery. * If people continue to have contact with their drinking or drug using peers they can be tempted back into substance abuse. * Those individuals who do not have adequate support following rehab are most at risk of relapse. The level of support required does vary from person to person, but most people will need at least some type of support network. * When people become sober they will suddenly have a great deal of free time on their hands. Boredom is a common relapse trigger and this will arise unless people find meaningful ways to make use of their free time. * A significant number of substance abusers have a dual diagnosis – this means that they are dealing with another mental health problem alongside their addiction. Until this other issue is dealt with the individual will be unable to find comfort in recovery and so their risk of relapse will be high. * Those people who do not make use of any type of aftercare following rehab are the most likely to return to substance abuse. * Those individuals who have unrealistically high expectations for early recovery are likely to become disappointed, and this may give them a justification to return to substance abuse. This is because it takes time and effort to build a successful recovery. * The early months of recovery are full of changes and challenges. The individual has to be willing to face these if they are to succeed. If people in recovery engage in new maladaptive behaviors it will increase their risk of relapse. Those who become caught up in workaholism or exercise addiction are trying to avoid dealing with their real issues, and this approach will later backfire on them.http://alcoholrehab.com/addiction-recovery/recidivism-after-rehab/ Knowing Rob Fords history, family and friends, does anybody really believe that this guy can stay off booze and/or drugs? GostHacked Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 He won't stay clean for a month. And I bet he was not completely clean during his 'rehab'. Quote
cybercoma Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 Ford scales back comeback media blitz "We didn't realize these assholes were going to be asking questions!" continued the staffer. It certainly looks that way. He wanted to come out and control the message, as though going to rehab would absolve him of answering for the shit show that happened just before he went into hiding. BubberMiley Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 You're seriously offended by someone questioning your precious crackhead mayor? I would think that's a good lesson in citizenship for his students. Perhaps your private sector employer could learn a lesson in freedom from him too. Rob is going to get her elected. The halfwit vote he manages to garner will come from someone like Tory, not Chow. WWWTT Posted July 4, 2014 Author Report Posted July 4, 2014 But a poll came out last week having him back in 2nd. If he can stay clean, a lot of pundits have said he could actually win. Saw a poll today on OMNI news Cantonese version (my wife is fluent) that put Ford at 3rd with 26% Tory at 27 and Chow at 30 something. So much for the sympathy vote from Toronto crack heads and alcoholics. WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Boges Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) New Poll has Tory in the lead. So that's good right? Are people without shirts following RoFo around yelling "Resign! Resign! Resign!" going to be a thing now? Edited July 8, 2014 by Boges Quote
BubberMiley Posted July 8, 2014 Report Posted July 8, 2014 Maybe just until he does the honourable, responsible thing and resigns. I finally saw the video though. I'm not sure why Doug Ford and his minions are so offended by a teacher demonstrating how to be an engaged citizen. It was funny seeing Doug call him racist and then provide his definition of racism though. Apparently Rob Ford's racial slurs don't count but yelling at Rob Ford does. Not talking about that, this morning RoFo had a presser about some proposal about reducing a major street from 5 lanes to 2. The "Shirtless Posse" as they're being called came by and heckled him through the whole thing. Quote

I'm surprised more Toronto citizens aren't enraged that he still hasn't resigned. Maybe they're frightened of saying anything because they think their employers won't allow them to.
