Boges Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Why is he evil? I'm paraphrasing the feelings of a lot of people. I don't think he's evil. He's crude and socially awkward. But the people that voted for him knew that before the election. Quote

Topaz Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 I wonder if there any connection for the Ford bros. and the mob? Drugs and guns coming in Ontario, good for the mob to have a friend in high places, one never knows now a days. Of course, not saying they do. Quote

I'm sure, now that you've wondered that, you can be used as a source by the media. "Source claims the Fords have a mob connection" Quote
Black Dog Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Sort of like saying, do you have any evidence that God doesn't exist. Very hard to prove a negative. The lack of a video showing up over a month since the story broke is pretty compelling. Given the circumstances, not really. We knew from the get go when the people in possession of the video were asking for six figures that it might not see the light of day. Quote

We knew from the get go when the people in possession of the video were asking for six figures that it might not see the light of day. The money was raised though. Now Gawker is asking how that money should be spent. Quote
g_bambino Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Mr. Bambino I respect you a way too much to make a false claim about you and you know that... Nothing you said was false and I never said that. Making a false claim about someone does not mean asserting that someone made a false claim. It is attributing to that person something they neither did nor said. You intimated that I was making illogical arguments about proving truth. I did not. Quote
Black Dog Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 The money was raised though. Now Gawker is asking how that money should be spent. Uh huh. It took a couple of weeks, in which time the story blew up into a major international story which made it less likely, not more, that these guys would come forward. I'd say that it will leak out in time, but I'm pretty sure the cops or RoFo have it. Quote
g_bambino Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 [Y]ou still think there's actually a video. Why wouldn't he, when Toronto police have recorded conversations between people involved with the video talking about said video and three people later, on separate occasions, witnessed it? Quote
GostHacked Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Why wouldn't he, when Toronto police have recorded conversations between people involved with the video talking about said video and three people later, on separate occasions, witnessed it? Seems to be enough circumstantial evidence to prove the video exists. But this now looks nothing more than an attempt at extortion. Possibly a set up by Fords opponents as some have claimed here. If they were simply out to expose Ford, the video would have already been released online. The extortion failed. Quote

Possibly a set up by Fords opponents as some have claimed here. If they were simply out to expose Ford, the video would have already been released online. The extortion failed. That sounds an awful lot like you're considering the possibility that this is a conspiracy. If so, who orchestrated it? The so-called drug dealers alone? Them with The Star and Gawker? Them with The Star, Gawker, and the Toronto police? Only the first seems most likely; but, to ponder on the possibility of that brings us back to the question of the ability of such people to create a fake video of Ford smoking crack and making politically incorrect comments so well it convinced three people, two of whom watched it three times, that it was real. Further, the only person that could be extorted is Ford. Yet, those who possessed the video went to the media. If some media outlet had bought the video, there'd exist no more way to extort Ford. I strongly suspect they merely were out to make a lot of money from what really could be a very valuable video. (Perhaps, hence, the break-ins and shootings and people falling from balconies that all revolve around this story.) Quote
workingclasshero Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 You know how this will end. Let's wait a couple of years and they'll make a movie about it with Philip Seymour Hoffman in the leading role. Quote

Pssh...they already have. Dumb and dumber , ROb is Harry and Lloyd is Doug The one in a million line is a euphumysm for the liklihood the video is a fake. Quote

I heard that there might be a connection to Jack Layton and the mob involving the prostitute incident. Not saying there was, but you never know. Quote
GostHacked Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 That sounds an awful lot like you're considering the possibility that this is a conspiracy. If you and I get together to do something to undermine someone else, yes it is a conspiracy. That is how it is defined. But the term has been associated with nutters in tinfoil, so when real conspiracies happen, people will most likely ignore them. If so, who orchestrated it? Anyone who has a grudge with Ford? I mean, that is just a guess as Ford has managed to make quite a few political enemies for his time in office. This is not the first time Ford has been in the spotlight for alleged questionable behavior. Quote

GostHacked Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 /facepalm Nope, it's exactly how I spelled it. Look it up. You typed illusive. Wake me up when the magically illusive non-existent video appears. Otherwise, it's just Rob Ford birtherism. Now this is before you go make a spelling correction on that post. e·lu·sive /iˈlo͞osiv/ Adjective Difficult to find, catch, or achieve. Difficult to remember or recall. Synonyms evasive - elusory http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/illusive Do not confuse elusive with illusive. Elusive means 'hard to find, catch, or achieve' (what I was looking for proved elusive), whereas illusive means 'not real, although seeming to be' (the illusive nature of the material world). So by what Shady used, in that context it means that there is no video. Quote
Shady Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 Exactly GH. There is no video, hence illusive. At least somebody gets it. Quote

Shady Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 I'm sure you used that word on purpose too :-D Actually I did. Illusive, as in illusion. As in non-existent video that I prefaced illusive with each and every time. Quote
