Michael Hardner Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 whoopD! The guys been mostly at Harvard anyway these last years... now he got a full-time gig! Gee... weren't there any worthy Americans to fill the position? Yes, I'm trying to figure out why this is news. Seems like a typical Canadian success story... goes the US... makes a lot of money... and then BC posts about him ! Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
bush_cheney2004 Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 It's news because now it is all official like. The former leader of Canada's "natural" ruling party has gone back to the USA. Maybe he likes the lower gas prices. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Topaz Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 Hey the guy tried but failed, kinda hard to win when you have Pierre poutine is out there help other party/parties. Also the Libs came to him and he said he go back if they take him back. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 Mr. Ignatieff can now get his American "green card" without any fear of criticism "back home". More time to write books too. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Also the Libs came to him and he said he go back if they take him back. Yeah I'm still waiting to hear what comes out of that court case in Guelph. Might have been nice to hear the truth about robocalls while C 23 was still in the senate. Or does Harper now have control of provincial courts? Quote

Maybe he likes the lower gas prices. I'm sure he enjoys a prestigious position at Cambridge. I'm also sure he is embarrassed to be one of the biggest losers in Canadian politics. scribblet Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 and... 'Pierre Poutine' had nothing to do with that one. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
WWWTT Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 and... 'Pierre Poutine' had nothing to do with that one. Not sure if that fictional character had anything to do with it? Either way, our parliamentary system dictates that you win your constituents support to sit in parliament. Ignatief should have designated more resources and spent more time in his own riding. But his arrogance got the best of him and he was on a non stop Canada tour. Stupid so stupid so stupid! WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! jbg Posted June 27, 2014 Report Posted June 27, 2014 Gotta give him points for being honest at least. Also not sure why this is news. How "Canadian" a PM would he have been? Yes...but Mr. Ignatieff is consistent and congruent with respect to the United States (for the most part), unlike the the usual America bashers from Canada who still cross the border for personal interests and gain. cybercoma Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 bush_cheney2004, do you know anything about academic appointments? Quote
Big Guy Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) I do not know of any honoured academics who went on to successful political careers. I believe that the personalities required for success are very different as to honesty, integrity and management. I admire Michael Ignatieff for his work as a historian. He has held senior academic posts at the universities of Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and Toronto. He has also held positions in numerous other universities. I have been privy to attending a few of his lectures and was not disappointed. He is a winner of numerous prizes in publishing, TV and radio. I will not bother to detail all of his accomplishments, thay can be found on the Internet. I find it sad that there is an attempt to evaluate his success based only on his unsuccessful foray into politics. He is a distinguished Canadian who continues to bring fame to Canada and will be doing so in the future. To show that you are unable or unwilling to fight in the mud slinging sport of politics does not make you unsuccessful in life, it makes you ill prepared to be a politician. Edited June 28, 2014 by Big Guy Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
