Guest American Woman Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 (edited) Mind the rules: How is his observation against the rules? When considering if it's safe to travel to the U.S., wouldn't the statistics regarding Canadians who do travel here - more than the other way around - be something to think about? Obviously they aren't afraid, they aren't being murdered, so it just could be something to think about, no? At any rate, as guyser has already pointed out, the number of mass shootings in the U.S. has gone down since the peak in 1929. Of course some years have been worse than others since then, it was more prominent in the 80's and 90's, but since 2000 it's gone down. As has also been pointed out, most gun deaths are committed by someone the victim knows. So really, all of this talk about the U.S culture going to hell in a hand basket - and the idea that it just might not be safe to travel here any more - is just an uninformed, heat-of-the-moment reaction. If one is truly that afraid for their life, one must be sure to avoid thunder storms. Edited December 16, 2012 by American Woman Quote
betsy Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 (edited) Are we being smug just because we haven't got a repeat of the Ecole Polytech in a long while? Or the Pig Farm? Considering the population of the USA compared to us....do we really have anything to be smug about? How many serial killers have we had compared to the USA? How many serial murders being tracked at this very moment? We've got our own share of loonies! Safe place? You walking to do your grocery in BC and you suddenly get knifed.... by a naked man to boot! What about the shootings in Toronto? Montreal? What about in Alberta(?) - people getting shot while they're in their homes? A child died, remember? Wanna do a reverse poll on specific places in Canada? Ask Canadians what city in Canada they'd want to avoid. Edited December 16, 2012 by betsy Quote
betsy Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 (edited) Mind the rules: What trolling are you talking about? Bush Cheney got a valid point! Address it, or ignore it - but don't censor him! You've got no place in a forum if you can't deal with arguments you don't know how to answer....and all you can muster is scream, "TROLLING!" Do not post inflammatory remarks just to annoy people. If you are not bringing anything new to the argument, then do not say anything at all. Some messages are not so much offensive as simply nuisance value. I find your attempt at censureship annoying, and that you didn't even squeak anything to address the point that Cheney brought to the argument. You got me wasting my time lecturing to you because of the nuisance value of that post you made. Guess who's the troll! Deal with the message....not the messenger. That's another rule. betsy Posted December 16, 2012 Report Posted December 16, 2012 With all the lunatics in the world, I'd feel a whole lot safer travelling to the USA, to tell you the truth. If you happen to get caught in any violent situations in the US - being at the wrong place at the wrong time - then you've got something in common with those who got hit by lightning. Quote

Also interesting you'll reply to me about this but you'll ignore a large number of my replies to your posts challening you on your religious claims (about homosexuals and whatnot). Because your replies are just a repeated rehash of the same nonsense - that's why! Anyway, we're here in another section! So get with the game and stop bringing an out-of-topic subject here. That's another rule! Golly....you're breaking rules left and right! and center, with impunity! Of course I'll reply to this since I don't particularly like the way you're trying to censor what I read on this forum! Cheney's reply is not solely for you alone, you know. Now back to the topic. Adrress Cheney's argument....or zip it! Edited December 16, 2012 by betsy Quote

Isn't Cheney a pagan???? I thought he said he is a pagan? Well....if he is a God-believer, I obviously misunderstood him. A lot of people here don't challenge my theism! There's only a handful of you who challenge and gravitate around me like a rotten halo and you all suck with your dysfunctional reasonings. Just look at you now. Anyway, I'm defending everyone's right. Just because you don't know how to answer Cheney's argument, you want to button him up. Like I said....you're stepping on my rights as well. You're controlling what I read. Why should we bow down to your censorship? Especially when it comes from someone who has nothing substantial to say....often times. You're notoriously hit-and-run. You avoid direct rebutts. Your method is usually duck-and-hide....and with Cheney here, you cry 'Trolling!" Another ducking procedure. I should call you Donald.
