I think a lot of members here will be watching the results on Tuesday night. Let's meet in the chat-room and discuss the results as they happen!

Word on the street is that the chat-room limit has been increased, so there will be room for everybody!

Oh oh oh! Great idea!

Count me in biggrin.png

I'll be able to get into the chat a little before CNN starts announcing voting result.

I traditionally get drunk with my wife every Canadian and American Federal election. Sort of to genuflect to old-school democratic practices. So I'll have to take a pass on the chat. But who wants a druken bleeding heart stumbling around an otherwise intelligent discussion, anyway? :)

Good times in the Maritimes! smile.png

Yep!

It'll be fun--similar to Canadian elections, we'll have some drinks, and root for the Centrist wing of the Business Party over the reactionary wing of the Business Party. :)

I'm in the chat!

I'm also playing a drinking game involving cups of sambuca (and water) and red and blue food colouring. When a D or a R wins a state, I take a sip from the proper cup! When one cup is empty, I win! :D

The election results. I don't know how much fun the chatroom will be.

And speaking of FUN -> try this interactive tool:

Chat rooms are excellent as the results roll in, as people can discuss their own conclusions as well as the conclusions drawn from the various media outlets they are watching.

Well, the election night chat is over. It was a lot of fun, and at one point we had as many as 17 people in the chat room. There were lots of laughs and some good discussion as well. Special recognition to Blueblood for sticking it out on what was not a good night for Republican supporters.

The only downside, aside from running out of cake early, was some extremely disappointing conduct from Mr Canada. The entire moderating team showed up to deal with the situation!

Here is actual footage of Mr Canada literally begging Greg to ban him:

Quite astounding, really.

Thanks to everyone who joined in, aside from Mr Canada.

There's another downside to the chat, imo - people who chose to be somewhere else other than the chat room miss out on the comments/discussion that otherwise would have been posted - it's a quiet morning on the board comment-wise following an election night.

Kimmy, I'm watching Fox and Friends....all I can say is...laugh.png

It's so funny to watch them act all indignant. How dare people still blame Bush over Obama for the economy....laugh.png

A lot of the chat was things that had little lasting relevance ("Obama leading Ohio!" "They called Ohio!" "Romney leading Ohio!?" "How can they call it for Obama when Romney is leading?!" "Obama leading Ohio again.". etc...) and a lot of it was banter.

It was fun for the people who were there at the time, but a lot of the discussion would be stuff that just wouldn't matter if you were reading it today. Blueblood and Bonam had a philosophical discussion about the role of government, and there was some discussion about how the Republicans need to change, but those will be ongoing topics.

Tears? Any tears yet? I'll look for highlights later.

What did Mr. C do?

Dropped N-bombs, advocated for the murder of President Obama, literally pleaded for the moderators to ban him... they happily obliged. It was pretty gross, actually.
