Army Guy Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I spent alot of time reading up on WWI those guys must have had stones the size of boulders, to get up run across no mans land and watch most of their company get mowed down by MG fire...I thought we had it bad during OP mudusa, when the A-10 straffed us, and took out half the company in 3 passes....me and god had serveral conversations that day let me tell you...but nothing what those guys faced day to day in the trenches... Quote We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.
Army Guy Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I think when you propose that politicians should have no say in how much taxpayers spend on you and that taxpayers in turn should have no say in what missions the politicians send you on deeply undermines whatever case you're trying to make. That was not my piont, i was trying to say, the politicians should control the funding, thats it, and as long as the equipment was not stratigic in nature IE nuc missle, Air craft Carriers, those sort of things then what equipment is purchased would controled by the amount of funding released...In this way the military when funds are approved would be able to purchase the equipment it wants...it is a win win..elected officals still maintain control over tax payers funds, and the military gets the equipment they need... Tax payers don't have a say in much of anything until after the fact and only by controlling the vote, or some sort of massive protest....or media event Quote We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

PIK Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 anada has been/is involved in wars, regardless of how the current government terms them. http://en.wikipedia....story_of_Canada Vietnam ( although Canadian citizens took part in this war it was not a Canadian venture) Korea ( Korea was deeed a conflict not a war,it was the UN's first and only conflict) Bosnia ( Bosnina was a peace keeping/ peace making operation for Canada) Somalia ( Same as above) Afghanistan [/color] A buddy of mine was a canadian sniper for canadian intelligence farmed out the the 2nd commando unit, in laos.Best shot was 1040 yrds. PIK Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) By all means get Mr Harper to explain why we need to fear a Chinese invasion of Baffin Island and Russians landing on Ellsmere. Please, I'm just dying to hear this officially put into context. Harper knows the china threat, they are already here but more is coming. Look at africa, the chinese are building roads and ports getting ready to clean her out. China is buying the world with it's walmart dollars and the idiot canadian comsumer has no idea what is going on. Funny thing that maruice strong who is all for one world goverment lives in the only place close to a one world goverment, china. But before the idiots figure it out, it will be to late. Our OWN companies would never trie to poison us with asbestos, benzene, toluene, or zylene either! Seriously though... poisoning consumers and the environment is an area where we have a lot of common ground with the Chinese! Everybody loves doing that Quote I question things because I am human. eyeball Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Tax payers don't have a say in much of anything until after the fact and only by controlling the vote, or some sort of massive protest....or media event You say that like it was a good thing. The only thing I can hope for is that the revelation of the insane costs of doing the same thing over and over and over again sinks a little deeper into our collective consciousness and moves us towards a different path. I think that expanding anything and everything in our Charter that further limits and constrains the power of the state, and above all else it's secrecy, is the best way to go. My certainty of that is buoyed up by the fact that the militaristic government currently in power clearly fear and loath the Charter. It's proving to be the only real hedge Canadians have against the government having everything it's way. What's even more indicative of this being the best path to follow is that our Charter and Constitution has emerged as the template that other people in world are moving towards and following. That's what I call playing a serious role on the world's stage. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
dre Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Moving to China soon then? Figures you'd defend one of the biggest human rights violators on the globe. Not defending them... they are doing exactly what we taught them to do, and they are doing it with money invested by our corporations, and money spent by our consumers. If Western consumers are going to bend over and apply lube, whey shouldnt China get in on the gang bang! Quote I question things because I am human. I'm still waiting for GH's info on China's bid to do the F-35's electronics. It would be an American based company that gets a facility in China to make them. Or are you not aware that that happens.
