From what I have read Pat used the "F" word.

I guess if you are worried about an NDP surge then this would be justification for asking him to step down.

Good luck

No, Pat Martin should not step down. He was picked by his constituents on numerous occasions. They knew what they were getting.

Pat Martin has every right to run his mouth and make a fool out of himself. At least he doesn't give canned interviews!

Typical left-wing drones trying to hinder free speech.

The level of political correctness is astounding. Oh, the humanity...

This man is a raving nut case and there is no room for his BS.

Step down? Why? I don't believe there's any requirement that an MP must resign because he's tweeted juvenile rants. He'll face voters again in a few years' time.

However, I doubt this will affect his reelection at all. Martin's always been a buffoon; not because of the political views he chooses to hold, rather purely because he thinks everyone wants to hear his opinion but can only attract attention to himself by speaking in the most disrespectful, lowbrow manner possible. (Hence the euphemistic "outspoken" or "controversial" adjective that is invariably attached to his name in any media mention of him.) Perhaps he believes it appeals to who he thinks his supporters are: blue-collar labourers; it's all part of his class warfare shtick.

There is logic in Pats choice of words and approach.

His tactic appeals to many and will actually increase support.

The reform pretty much cornered the market on this "cowboy political" style.

If anything critisizing Pat could make the conservatives look like hypocrits.

Good on Pat Martin for calling it as it is.

NDP parliamentarian Pat Martin posted on his Twitter account Wednesday night: “This is a f—ing disgrace … closure again. And on the Budget! There’s not a democracy in the world that would tolerate this jackboot s—.”

An hour later a second post on the New Democrat’s account reads: “For gods sake. In these uncertain economic times, don’t you think our parliament should be debating our federal budget? Some due diligence?”

BRAVO Mr Martin, do not ever change. Canada needs more of you and less of these jackbooted Cons and their ilk.

“This is all about who you represent,” Mr. Dewar (NDP) said. “We’re (NDP) talking about representing the interests of working people and everyday Canadians and they [the Conservatives] are about representing the fund managers who come in and fleece our companies and our country.

Pat represents one of the poorest tidings in he province, and you are right that he will get more support from his constituents and ndp supporters, but independents don't like that style which is why the Tories, libs, and other ndp use canned interviews and such.

This is not just his belief, right? He actually wins election after election in a blue-collar riding, as far as I can tell?

Why should he step down? Because he used a couple of swear words??

Hey now hold on a second!

In the last election the NDP did get alot of support in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, over 30% I believe. They just didn`t get the seats out there to reflect this!

An extra few percentage points in their favour can completely turn the tables on the conservatives in these two provinces and as many as 20 seats can change hands!

I wouldn`t underestimate the potential the NDP have in uprooting the conservatives!

The liberals never had any real chance of doing this but the NDP are not bound as the liberals were.

In every rural farm oriented riding the ndp not only lost, they got destroyed. The ndp got a lot of support in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, and the extreme north. That's it.

Actually I errored slightly.

In Sas. the NDP received over 32% but 0 seats out of 14.

In Manitoba the NDP got 25.8% and only 2 out of 14 seats.

However I am still correct in saying that a slight shift in support can result in as many as 20 seats changing hands.

It's being amended into CPC contracts as we speak.

Hopefully one will land on the desk of Rob F***ing Ford.

I understand the frustration of Martin and all the opposition party members, one only has to watch goes on in the House and in committee meetings to know why he feels this why. This is NOT attacking the Tories because of being the government is about what this government is doing! Just yesterday, I watch a Lib member in committee, who agree with the government on Canadians and terrorism bill and all the Lib. wanted was to add amendments to secure more rights for Canadians and close up the loop holes and the Tories would have nothing to do with the amendments. The Lib. member explained over and over again how it would make things better for Canadians but The Tories didn't want to hear about. So when Canadians watch this, I'm sure they can understand why some members say what they do. Also, just read the comments of other Canadians at the end of the following article. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/ndp-mp-martin-not-hacked-not-sorry-following-144217138.html

It's pretty obvious that the NDP, like the Liberals, are a party only for city folk!

They both have a LOT of work to do if they hope to win any seats outside of city limits. That's because they consistently take positions that favour the whims of city folk and ignore the wishes of rural citizens.

Ever since the Liberals enacted their gun registry, every time a fox raided a chicken coop a farmer cursed the Liberals!

Pat Martin is wrong about how he communicated his frustration, but the frustration is justified. The Harper government has shutdown debate on many of the bills. That's not what I want to see in my government.

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always. Gandhi

The hypocrisy is among the chattering classes. On one hand, people seem to want to have independent MPs who speak their mind and are not trained seals. OTOH, as soon as an MP exercises their freedom, everyone jumps on them.

so cons want someone to step down cause he swore yet towes, bernier, clement among others who did WORSE did not

i need not point out how ridiculous this is

You're right, it is ridiculous when the liberals or NDP portray themselves as being better than the Conservatives.

This is a false statement!

The NDP are very rooted in rural Canada and now that Harper got rid of the gun registry their job will be much easier.

There are some rural regions in Canada that are exeptions, but hey Harper at one time had a real hard time in urban Canada.
