How about proclaiming a winning season before it even starts? How did that turn out for you?

Kinda like your prediction that the Jets would beat the Leafs in the playoffs a couple of years ago. The Leafs were there. Didn't see the Jets though.

Yes, I sure would have felt stupid if I then went and called people idiotic for engaging in such speculation.

I suggest that being a fan and supporter of a particular team allows and expects you be very, very optimistic as to future games. What makes watching a game an enjoyable experience is the prejudicial way in which you view the action. The experience is even better if you are watching the game in the company of another fan, supporting the same team or supporting the opposition.

I leave it to the bookies, statisticians, general managers, coaches et al to objectively analyze the teams and predict the outcome or the spread. It is particularly enjoyable when "your" team is considered the underdog but manages to win.

Leafs for the Stanley Cup! :)

It was 'you cannot make this shit up' laughoutloud material when the Leafs played the Bruins this week. The Toronto networks like Sportsnet and TSN had it hyped like it was Game 7.

The wounds of the Bruins breaking the Leafs backs a couple years ago have obviously not healed.

DaFuq is with the Leafs in Buffalo? It's pretty much a Home Game. Real Leafs fans that don't want the fake experience at the ACC go to Buffalo in droves. Sabre fans pay for their Season's tickets by selling their Leaf tickets to Leaf fans.

Yet the Leafs crap the bed everytime they play there even though this Sabres team is an AHL squad.

No idea what station you tuned in for that to be heard, but I heard them talking about the embaraassment earlier in the year against Boston at ACC. Since then they turned it around and the talking heads wondered if they could keep it going and beat them this time. Most said they didnt think it would happen and yet it did.

Nor should they, keep that fresh as a reminder of what happens when you grip the stick too tight

It was the lead story on both TSN and Sportsnet for the day before the game and game day.

Not coincidentally, both are based in Toronto.

They weren't talking about this year, the hilarity centred around the horrible, soul destroying loss in 7 games a couple years ago.

For the ROC, it was a highlight of the playoffs.

Then switch the feed you are watching, SN leads w the team in that region, unless no one else but the Leafs are on the sched.

Kind of silly, watch the S Ont feed and hear about the Leafs...shocker isnt it?

Glad the country tuned in. Leaf fans dominate the landscape.

Not only did the Leafs concede a Safety last night, the Preds also tacked on a Converted Touchdown.

2 pretty sad results in a row for the Leafs. Thank God for the Raptors.

Yup !

I have to think there will be huge changes coming. All management brass were at the practice this morning.

My uneducated guess is....Khdri, Gardner and one of either Kessel or Lupul will be on the move. Trading for a goaltender and a defenceman

As for me....my cable was out last night, so I was saved the anger of watching. Worked on the boiler heating system instead, good thing too, I got it all working !

Wow, watched that blowout. How can a team look like Cup contenders one night and then look completely inept (in ALL areas) the other. Is it the job of coaches or captains or who to get these guys up for a game?

On the other hand, Nashville is a changed team. They have a new coach and a few guys that can score, for the first time in many years.

Their defencemen are really good, led by Shea Weber.

They have a world class goalie in Rinne, finally healthy.

They play a high speed hard checking style.

They will do well I think.

When one gets to that level it is everyones own job to be prepared and ready to go.

No one expects every night their play is awesome, sometimes ( like all of us) it just isnt there for whatever reason. Thats when a teammate steps up and fills the void.

When no one steps up....you look at the clock and see its 8-0.

I loved that the fans gave Vince a standing ovation during his video tribute last night and then booed him when he subbed into the game. That was awesome! Edited by Mighty AC

I'm of the opinion that Vince quit on the team and was a soft player.

That being said, the success of Basketball in Canada can be directly linked to his prominence as a legit star in Toronto.

It was pretty creepy that Vince Carters mother travels with the team.

She doesn't always travel with them does she? I assumed it was just because Vince was being honoured in Toronto. Edited by Mighty AC

I think the Leafs refusing to salute the crowd after the last win was a major mistake. I also think that we will hear more about this, a question about the captain and his roll and some real fan reaction before, during and after their next home loss.

That really was a dumb thing for those blue jersey millionaires to do!

Leafs won in Toronto tonight and "returned" to their salute to their fans. It appears that nobody believed the tap dancing by the captain and other spokespersons when asked about their snub. I also understand that Phaneuf was called to a meeting with the money guys and was asked to review his obligation as captain and if he wanted to keep the job. He decided he did and everything is back to like it was before the team gave the finger to the fans.

Didn't Phaneuf win the award for most overrated player in the league, as voted on by the players?

I know he was loathed by his team mates in Calgary and in Red Deer as a junior.

Well now that they comfortably beat the Lightning and Red Wings they've gone from worst team in the league to best team ever. GO LEAFS!!!!

My Facebook feed is telling my Pat Quinn died. That sucks.
