So? How come there was no outcry over Sanchez and Thomas? Anyone who agrees with their firing and not William's is a blatant hypocrite.

The Williams incident is comparable to the Sherrod incident. In that, the whole of what they were saying was exactly the opposite of what they were accused of. Sanchez and Thomas are the exact opposite. So your assertion is complete nonsense.

No it isn't they were all offensive comments. I thought all three of them should've been fired. Either way, with saying they should be fired and Williams not, you are still saying there, somewhere, is a limit on freedom of speech. Yet, we have all these right wingers on saying how Liberals don't want to hear what they don't like and are censoring and hate freedom of speech despite being guilty of the exact same thing with Sanchez and Thomas. So please, spare me the righteous indignation.

If we want to have a discussion of where the limit of freedom of speech is, that's great, let's do it. However, don't come here and feign outrage to score some cheap political shot at people you don't like which ironically the exact same thing that you're accusing NPR of. What unadulterated hypocrisy.

Exactly. Because it's a mouthpiece of the left, funded through tax payer money. That needs to end, and it needs to end now. Let George Soros pay for that crap, not the American tax payer. And it seems as though he's more than willing to do so, judging from his recent million dollar donations.

The part of my post that you clipped and chose to quote was part of a question to scribblet’s statement that NPR was losing subscribers. I asked for a link, as I was curious who these subscribers might be, knowing well that they were not teabaggers or the radical right, I wondered what Democrats or liberals were pulling their support/dollars from NPR.

Of course Democrats aren't pulling their support for NPR. It's a mouthpiece for their politics. Democrats, liberals, and the rest of the handjobbers out there (who want governments hand in everything) love the tax payer funded NPR and PBS.

I think we have already established where the limit is...in Canada (hate speech laws). The Williams' dust up is not a freedom of speech issue per se.

So, you and I agree that the rights or the lefts are not the ones scribblet was referencing, I guess we will just have to wait until she gives us a link for her comment. And, yes we Democrats do love NPR and PBS; excellence in broadcasting is becoming very hard to find on our dials and NPR and PBS rarely disappoint.

Yes, if by excellent broadcasting you mean broadcasting that reflects and regurgitates your politics. With other people's taxes.

LOLOLOL.. He gets nevervous about people with muslim garb getting on board. The hijackers were dressed like any other typical american. So his fear there is irrational, and I would have fired him for being an idiot for not knowing that.

Because this surveilance tape which shows Atta and another one of the hijackers in plain every day clothes. Nothing muslim looking about it. Williams is a joke, no wonder Fox hired him on the spot.

The rest of his rant can be ignored. Looks like he's been taking many talking points from Bill. He is going to fit into the Fox mentality quite well.

I get nervous too...especially when it's the flight crew dressed that way!

You mean the highjackers were actually Amish?

Yeah...working for ten years at NPR was just a fluke!

Exactly. Which he went on to say. What is wrong with people in this forum? Are you purposely being obtuse?

Do you have any specifics that they only broadcast liberal views? If you listen to NPR, you should be able to provide me with these specifics.

If what you are suggesting is reality instead of right-wing rhetoric, I think both would have shuttered by the FCC, especially under the leadership of Michael Powell with a Republican administration, Congress and Supreme Court.

No media outlet broadcasts only one view or the other. It's a matter of proportion. And NPR leans strongly left. There's no doubt about it. You're denying the undeniable. Just look at their content, and the people that comprise the organization. Also, just look at who their big contributors are. George Soros.

Really? He says he gets nervous about people dressing like Muslims when they get onto planes because of 9/11. But the 9/11 hijackers were in plain clothes like most other Americans. Nothing Muslim about them in dress at all. He got fired for matking that statement when his fear about muslim garb is completely irrational. He's buying into the whole 'muslims attacked us' regardless of what he says now on Fox. This incident proves that.

But on Fox he goes against that? He's not making much sense. Seems like a lot of damage control for such a dumb statement.

He will do well at fox like I said .... Hell Bill O let him do Bill's show. Fox is capitolizing on this to the max, they will milk williams then ditch him when this 'crisis' blows over.

Something is wrong with all our media, because this is a side show with a really minor incident that is trying to be a big story. I now understand the appeal of this story to someone like you Shady.

I find it difficult to discuss vague assertions, without the names that “comprise the organization” or programs that offend. Shadow boxing is not my thing :)

NPR’s books are open, if there is any conflict with contributions from George Soros, I feel certain they could be unearthed and aired.

Ahem...it's not your media. You don't have to watch or listen...but you will anyway.

Anyone with a brain about them does not watch Fox. This much I understand. And I've stopped listening to most of them, because it's mostly garbage with nothing of value in them at all. This is te sad state of 'news' these days. It's all hypocritical, it's all A vrs B. Them, us. A divide.

Quality and unbiased reporting is almost non existant. I've had my TV off for about 2 weeks now. It's nice to not get bombarded with utter nonesense.

Nonsense...Fox is a huge broadcast and cable media source for sports, movies, television, and news. It's American...so I guess we have no brains.

Yes..it is much different that state sponsored media like the CBC and government cultural barriers erected by the likes of the CRTC.

Yeah...better to just smoke dope.

Now there I agree with you, it must be nice to not have talking heads telling you what to think about everything.

This Williams thing is not what some people are assuming. Williams is a left wing guy. His books and his day job prove this. I watch Fox, and whenever I've seen him he's always rooting for Obama and or the left and I really have no use for him since the facts are something he doesn't bother with when it comes to how Democrats are doing in the run up to the election.

NPR apparently has talked to him about his association with Fox as they don't like it. But what they fired him over is ridiculous and everybody knows it, even Whoopi. I never thought I'd agree with that leftwing wind bag, but this incident is so outrageous it has media people on opposite sides of the spectrum agreeing with each other.

This firing is a blow to free speech and Williams could win a wrongful dismissal suit in any court, it would be a slam dunk. I'm waiting for the announcement.

No...the leading shareholder (Rupert Murdoch) became an American citizen in 1987, expedited during the Reagan administration. You see, Australians....like some Canadians...know where opportunity exists.

There is a difference between Fox Broadcasting, which is over the airways and offers traditional broadcasting fare. What most reference is Fox News, which is their 24-hour cable news program that many thought, was an arm of the Republican Party but recently think the roles have been reversed. :)
