As citizens of this northern part of North America, we have so much to be grateful for.Whether native born, or immigrants, whether our ancestors came here several thousand years ago, or you and your family arrived last month, we can enjoy this great land of space and freedom. But please. Obey the laws, and pay your parking tickets. Edited June 30, 2010 by August1991 Quote

bjre Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 (edited) Canada's proud history. Make sure you watch the entire 11 parts. Watched. Astonished because from that I found the following: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+7&version=KJV Deuteronomy 7 (King James Version) 1When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; 2And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: 3Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. 4For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly. 5But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire. 6For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. Who has the idea if this is against law? I decided to skip this Canadian day because I am not sure if there is any protest today due to G20. I don't like to join those unhappy protest although I like to watch to happy ones. The happy ones are available each year that I can join next year. You enjoy it. Topaz Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Yes, happy July 1st to every Canadian and the weather is good for the Queen in Ottawa. At a 143 years Canada is still so young a country and this will probably be the last time we see the Queen over here being 84 and Phillip 89 but they look fit. Quote
nicky10013 Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Indeed, enjoy Canada Day! For those hockey fans out there, could free agency day really be on any other day? I plan to watch a bit then maybe go out to the town park for a beer and some music! Enjoy! Quote
Topaz Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Speaking about the parties going on, I watched the celebration from Ottawa this morning,I, personally, found the entertainment a bit of a bored. Too many French singers, for a country that speaks more english than french. Johnny Reed was the only one I found very good. The bear-naked ladies song wasn't that good and I wonder if the Heritage minister was the one to pick out the entertainment, which would explain alot. I'm sure there's Canadians that will think they got their moneys worth. Quote
ZenOps Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Happy "Glad I'm not living in a province that has their tax rate increased today!" Had to say it. But otherwise, enjoy the nice weather. Quote

Keepitsimple Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Meanwhile, tens upon tens of thousands of people celebrate Canada Day in Ottawa in peace and fun with nary a protest.....and no visible presence of police. What a contrast to the spoiled bunch of brats that could find nothing to do but complain. The harmonious gathering on Parliament Hill reaffirmed my faith in the goodwill of its people and the hopeful future of our country. Quote Back to Basics
Smallc Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Well, to be fair, there were over 500 RCMP officers on the Hill. According to one of the guys in red, that was double the normal number, just in case. Quote

madmax Posted July 6, 2010 Report Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) Have a very happy canada/ hst day tommorrow, forget about the politics for the day and enjoy yourself. Now that I have enjoyed my Canada Day Holiday. I will comment on the "Politic" you just tossed in for good measure. Have a very Happy Canada Day Would have been Non Political on its own. Its a great message for all of us and a great country we live in. So Kudos to Canada. However.... you just couldn't help yourself with tossing in the Politically Motivated HST. The HARPER SALES TAX came in on July 1st and the Conservatives did a great job of Ramming this down our throats back in December 2009 in 3 short days. Since You wish us a Happy Canada Day and HST Day... You can thank STEPHEN HARPER and the CONSERVATIVE government for this Tax shift. Edited July 6, 2010 by madmax Quote
