Considering the other stuff the party has let slide, they must anticipate this getting pretty bad if they kicked her out of the caucus.

She should've resigned as soon as the incident happened. I have no idea why they waited so long. I'm sure the PM called her and asked her to resign before parliament resumed. Time for some PR I guess and I'm sure Harper will make some announcement to try to divert public attention away from this.

Personally, I think Harper knows somethings we don't if he's called in the RCMP to investigate. Just my opinion of coarse.

How was your time away from the board ?

It's the weekend now so I have a little time. I never said I was leaving completely just that I would have less time to post then I previously had.

Do me a favor and try to comment on the content of my post. I cannot be that interesting that you must discuss me a every opportunity, surely.

I wonder what the new allegations are.

Whatever they are, I'll speculate they will involve Jaffer's illegal actions.

Being married to loser Rahim Jaffer it's likely some of the slime rubbed off which prompted her to abandon her ethical standards in a bid to assist him in some way. On some level, this pair was acting together. How remains to be seen.

There's also the matter that her 2008 campaign expenses are under review by Elections Canada.

An Ottawa Citizen review of her election return shows three receipts were submitted from the clothing discounter Winners in Barrie, Ont., for items classified as dresses/suits, knit/sweaters and two $29.99 items identified on the receipt only as "career."

One bill from Winners also shows an item listed on the receipt as "handbags" with a cost of $249.99.

An Elections Canada handbook says while there are specific limits on reasonable expenses for travel, living and childcare, the chief electoral officer has capped allowable expenses in the "other" category at $200.

The guide cites dry-cleaning or personal grooming as allowable other expenses, but cautions they must be something that the candidate would not normally incur had there not been an election.

She's getting everything she asked for and deserves.

She's responsible for her own actions. Her mistakes aren't PM Harpers fault, she and she alone is responsible for them. If she has done wrong then I hope she is made accountable. Other then that I agree completely with you capricorn.

Exactly, but we know that the opposition will spin this as much as they can, they are allready foaming at the mouth crying for blood. LOL Harper has done what was necessary, he doesn't need to say any more or answer to anyone, Jaffer was not an MP and as such the party is not responsible for his actions.

I am going to wait and see but I wont jump on Harper for doing what is right. I never have when I have had a problem with him was when he made the wrong choices. This is not a wrong choice.

Agreed. The PM has booted her not only from her cabinet but right out of the caucus and contacted the RCMP to do a inquiry into her actions.

That's pretty petty stuff. I'm pretty sure that anyone in the public eye gets to write off the cost of the sorts of outfits they have to wear because of it, and shopping at Winners (aka Losers) is not exactly the sign of a high flying wastral living it up high on the taxpayer's ticket.

There are questions about the loan she got for her house but I haven't heard of anything substantial about her.

It's a good thing Jaffer was caught with Drugs, Drunk and Speeding. Without that, none of this would have come to light and there is little doubt that he had direct access to the PMOs office.

Its a bad stink and the only option the Prime Minister had was to wipe the dogcrap off his foot and hope the smell fades away.

The cats out of the bag.

Why are you spinning Jaffer when the story is

CONSERVATIVE Mp Resigns!!!

and

CONSERVATIVES Remove CONSERVATIVE MP From Caucus.

Small world on the hill.

Oh, just make certain you don't work as a staffer for a CPC MP , like in letter writing or posting on forums.. LOL.

I knew Rahim back in the Reform days and I thought he was a nice young fella. He seems to have gone off the rails and he is hurting anyone associated with him. Sad story for sure. Harper has done the right thing in asking for resignation. I will not blame her for the actions of her husband. But poop splatters.

Gosh, golly gee. Aw shucks...

And that little radio gig that went sour, and a few other silly things... what a great guy.

He seems to have gone off the rails and he is hurting anyone associated with him. Sad story for sure.

Yes, Conservatives will always bleed blue for one of their own. Its a sad sad story. Its so sad a story it makes me feel like a bleeding heart liberal.

So many people out there getting off of Drunk Driving charges, Cocaine Rap. He was not even able to serve a mandaTORY minimum sentence. How sad is that. Denied the opportunity to meet a friend in the pen.

The Prime Minister had little choice. Kill the bad news and do it on Friday. Isn't that traditional politics.

Gosh I feel bad for Jaffer and Helena and the Conservative Party. It is so sad a story. :P

The socialists will make political hay out of anything at all no matter how small. They do it to deflect the reality of them not having any plan of their own. Not only that but when you're at the top someone always wants to knock you down. It's the way of things. If on Monday the opposition uses this to attack the Tories it is going to look bad on them. The PM will likely say 'lets tend to the countries business' something along those lines. The PM will paint the opposition as being hyper partisan and not interested in going to work for Canada but instead only wishes to ensure non co operation.

I think Harper has established a reputation of standing beside his caucus members through good times as well as bad. This means that Harper enjoys loyalty from them all; they know that he won't walk away from them if they fall afoul of some bad press.

At the same time, it appears that Guergis has not acted in good faith. I suspect that Harper's decision to disown her is related to the caucus' perception that she is a special case.

I'm also intrigued by the RCMP investigation angle.

a former member of the government is a drug user and hangs out with shady characters promising them contact to the inner circle of the present government through his contacts and likely his wife a Cabinet Minister whose office he is using to conduct his business...

in what world is this a small matter??? are you using the same drugs as he is?

and it's more than likely she knew he was using cocaine if he casually carries it in his pocket, possibly she uses it as well...and this from the party that's tough on crime...
