North Korea has agreed to release two American journalists who have been imprisoned in the country for months, state-run media says.

The move comes after former U.S. president Bill Clinton arrived in the country in an attempt to secure the release of 32-year-old Laura Ling and 36-year-old Euna Lee, the two American journalists who were arrested along the North Korean-Chinese border in March.

I was wondering if Clinton would have success getting the two journalists out.

All around, good work.

Gee, I wonder if Clinton will rescue me after I commit some crimes in Canada?

Hope they get their Pulitzers for all the trouble.....

Obama is keeping its distance from the Clinton initiative as well they should given how provocative Korea has become.

Still, no one can be unhappy that he was able to bring the two women home.

I believe it was once a specialty of his. Not an impossible feat by no means...A lot more difficult when you are married. Hillary I sure was pleased ...this time.

The two women were accused of sneaking into North Korea and committing "hostile acts." They had been reporting on women and children who had defected into China from North Korea at the time of their arrest.

The only crime here is that they just counted women and children. No men are crossing the border?

Apart from spies, Taipeh revolutionaries, Chinese who miss the motherland and Maoists frozen in time, when someone defects to CHINA things have to be real real bad where they came from. That it happens is an indictment of the North Korean regime.

N K has no choice - all the nukes in the world will not welcome this nation into the family-- even the supposed insane are aware of this - North Korea is a huge blistering mistake of a place.. In reality they are crying out like a fatherless child - it's a nation of orphans - including the leadership - the fact that B Clinton did a fatherly visit and got the two journalists released proves this..... Hillary said that he did not appologize - Of course he did - he had to pander to them - and he knew it. North Korea will come around as soon as China stops lusting over the orphan and as soon as the west shows a bit of love.

One item was clear, they couldn't say anything negative about N. Korea and they didn't . What about the 3 hikers, not sure but, could they be CIA, of course not, they are hikers, that Iran has taken, now who do they sent to get them? Any Repbilicans? Bush, he'd probably start the WW3, this one is going to be a lot harder.

Good work? Caving to North Korea's demand for Bill Clinton? Rewarding bad behavior? Providing a great photo-op for Kim Jong Ill?

Yeah, great work.

It doesn't look like it cost the present administration and since you already don't like Clinton, it just gives you further reason to dislike him.

Maybe Obama shoud adopt M.Dancer's suggestion for Khadr's case, "the governemnt should send a strongly worded letter demanding the prisoners be sent back and then never raise the matter again", and let two Americans rot in the jail to cater right-wing's political-correctness.

The crucial difference is, who in their right mind wants the scum bag terrorist back?

The point is that he is Canadian and shouldn't be subjected to torture and whatever other crap the U.S. military does in Gitmo. If Khadr is guilty of the accused crimes, bring him back and let him rot in our jails amidst some basic human rights.

Even better....let the afghans put him on trial.

As it stands, there accusations he has been tortured using a very loose definition of what torture is....
