Has there ever been a vice-presidential nominee who has inspired as much hatred, fear, and outright sexism as Sarah Palin has in such a short period of time? Keep in mind that quotes about Sarah Palin and her family you are about to read -- many of which are from members of the mainstream media -- have been generated in a mere 3 weeks time. If I missed any, forgive me. I'm not entirely sure it's possible for any one human being to keep up with the amount of bile that's being spewed at Sarah Palin and her family right now by the netroots, liberal celebs, and the mainstream media.

Obama has two young daughters. Has anyone asked whether he should go back to work while they are so young?

The most obnoxious quote by far is "Palin Derangement Syndrome." Seriously. Any time I see that moronic reference to people who don't support Palin in the future, I will not read the thread/stop reading the post. We could just as easily refer to anyone who doesn't support Obama as having "Obama Derangement Syndrome," but then we'd come across just as juvenile and lacking in brain matter as the "Bush Derangement/Palin Derangement" crowd does, and then we couldn'tl respect ourselves. <_<

As for your "most obnoxious quotes," I could match each and every quote posted here with an equal or worse quote directed at the democratic/liberal candidates, but I can't think of a bigger waste of time.

Dr. Laura's quotation is great one. After all, here we have a RIGHT-WING commentator who sticks to her view that women with young children should stay home, instead of making an exemption for Sarah Palin, as many social conservatives are doing after years and years of saying that the place of any woman is in the home.

So yes, so comments directed at Sarah Palin have been disgraceful. But Denounciations of it coming from the social conservative ranks are a bit hypocritical. And no, a comment about Palin views is not sexist just because she is a woman.

PS: If Barack Obama was a woman, there would be no shortage of comments about how "her" being a woman is enough of a disqualification, children or no children, and in terms far worse than what has been directed at Palin.

You wouldn't even have to go looking for quotes directed at democratic/liberal candidates... hateful comments from people who "loves America" but hate most Americans in it would suffice, and even just that would not be a match, it would be a flood.

Palin Derangement Syndrome is a poorly disguised example of Republicans attempting to do blame-shifting on everyone who has noticed that this woman is a ticking timebomb that's almost set to blow up in the face of desperate Republicans attempting to find a way to win an electiion after creating domestic and foreign policy disasters.

There are so many absurd things about selecting Palin for high office that the extreme right wants to write it all off as persecution. There are so many crazy things about Sarah Palin's story that some interesting subtopics that should be discussed - such as her membership in a separatist party, are being crowded out by Troopergate, declared willingness to go to war with Russia over Georgia and Ukraine, linking Bin Laden to the Iraq War, lying about the bridge to nowhere and selling the plane on EBAY, believing in creationism, taking a redeye flight home to Alaska after her water broke prematurely, banning library books, opposing abortion even in cases of rape and incest, and likely many more I can't recall at the moment.

The people who aren't shocked and abhorred by the prospect of having her serve as Vice President, and being a heartbeat away from the top job, are the ones who are deranged!

Sorry that just does not compare to the eleven people who were friends of the clintons who have been murdered in the past 20 years. Call me crazy if you must. But how many people do you actually know that are friends of yours that have been murdered. I know this isn't mutually exclusive to Sarah Palin but after all that. Do you think I'm really all that phased about a bridge and a lady that opposes abortion?

I have nothing against Palin being a woman VP, I question her ability to be PRESIDENT!! McCain has had cancer and at 72 the possibility of him having a stroke or heart or even the cancer coming back especially under the stress of running for President is a REAL possibility Palin could become President. I think she not a full time mom is because she can't deal with the stress of being a full-time mom and so how she going to deal with 15 Trillion debt, terrorists, 2 wars and everything that goes along with it. I really don't think she knows what she in for, especially if she has to take over as President. If McCain wanted a woman VP why didn't get someone more experience in politics?

You have answered your own question....how has all that "experience" worked out so far for previous US presidents? And why do sexist optics only apply to Republican females?

So much for "progressive" Canada!

You mean like GW? He was a governor longer than Palin and look it the mess he created!!I don't care if the VP is a female, its the experience in politics especially at the Federal level. She didn't know what Bush's Doctrine was. Is McCain saying she was the only woman candidate qualified??? NO, he took her because of the family she young family and hoped it would appeal to the women voters. Whose going to keep those women safer, Palin or Obama as president?

That was the point...your criteria for political experience does not pass the test of time for many presidents.

We've already covered this....President Woodrow Wilson had less experience than Governor Palin when he took office. Senator Obama is a father of young childen as well. No matter how you twist it, you are penalizing Gov. Palin because of her gender and parental status.

If Senator McCain wins the election due in part to his VP choice, then it will have been a very wise move. Obama has no credibility for national security, and even he knows that.

Good for you. If you think it's a complete waste of time, don't do it. However, others may feel differently.

PS: If Barack Obama was a woman, there would be no shortage of comments about how "her" being a woman is enough of a disqualification, children or no children, and in terms far worse than what has been directed at Palin.

That's brilliant. And if McCain was black, there'd be no shortage of comments regarding his race. But he's not black, and Obama's not female. He just talks like he is.

I have nothing against Palin being a woman VP, I question her ability to be PRESIDENT!!

That's legitimate. She almost has less experience than Obama. Some of us question his ability to be President too.

I agree. And the posters who use it for their hyperpartisan support of Palin should give it a rest.

No, you should hust not choose to read it, or post in it. You're not the arbiter of how people should spend their time. There's already multiple Palin-hating threads. If someone wants to start the opposite, they have every reason to do so.

Ahh so you admit again to trolling. Breaking forum rules again I see.

I derive other entertainment value as well.....so it's not just trolling. I think it is hard to hide a nation the size of Canada behind "forum rules".

I recall Ron Brown's plane crash and the questions about Vince Foster's suicide, but to categorize them as murders would call for extraordinary evidence beyond anecdotes of conspiracy theorists. 9/11 and JFK conspiracy theorists have taken snippets of eyewitness accounts and incompetence of government officials to weave elaborate conspiracy theories, so how do we know that Clinton conspiracy theorists aren't following the same pattern of carefully crafting the evidence to fit the theory they want?

And, on a large scale, how many deaths have Bush and Cheney been responsible for, considering the evidence that they lied even to Republican members of Congress like Dick Armey, to carry out the Iraq Invasion? It would certainly be more than 11. And Sarah Palin is starting to show the patterns of a typical, corrupt small town politician-control freak; how much damage could she cause in the Whitehouse that is presently beyond her reach in the Alaska Governor's Office?

A bit lose with a few facts, aren't we? Sarah Palin was never a member of the Alaska Independence Party, not as she banned any library books (although she has raised the issue as an hypothetical question when she was mayor, and btw some of the books appearing on a list of titles she allegedly banned had not even been written yet at that time).

I don't claim it is. But it is based on years of being bombarded by the rhetoric of social conservatives claiming that a woman's place is at home... unless of course she is a social conservative politician.

Your post and indeed this entire thread merely gives credence to the idea of "Palin Derangement Syndrome".

There's something about Palin and Bush Jr that drives some Leftists around the bend. Ronald Reagan had a similar effect. Maybe it's the Left's perception that these people are "stoopid" and yet they are successful in politics. It leads to the Left's major tactical error: they play the man not the ball. It's like watching Lucy and Charlie Brown.

The Right never makes a similar error with Leftist leaders. The Right may fustigate Leftist leaders but the Right never falls on to the floor writhing in frustration because a Leftist won an election.

Something else. We don't really have the equivalent in Canada (although Toronto leftists sometimes look down on Albertan politicians). All in all, US leftists are a culture unto themselves.

Then how do you explain Palin's approval rating taking a 10-point drop in the last week and her disapproval rating taking a 10 point jump?

The right never falls on the floor and then quickly gets up and claims voter fraud (denial) and conspiracy (more denial). It's puzzling to me. Palin is attacked for not having enough experience by the party whose nomination has arguably less, and he's running for president ( Sorry, I know this is not exactly a new revelation).

She's attacked for not staying at home with her children by the party who's been pushing abortion on demand and daycare so moms can enter the workforce faster. They're freaked out about her abortion and religious stands when after 8 years with Bush, Roe v Wade is just fine thank you. Oh, and she's not RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

She's attacked for being the mayor of a small town by the party whose nomination's experience includes community organizer, and then they get hot under the collar when they're asked just what in the Sam hill does a community organizer do.

Palin Derangement Syndrome exists, why else would otherwise reasonable people on the left behave as above? And now a web site is displaying emails from her personal email account, obtained illegally. These senseless attacks will only help her nomination.

That's because they're too busy whining that the corporate MSM doesn't love them enough.
