Naw, they just threaten that the borders will squeeze tighter and the economy will suffer, ya know, the legal stuff.

Just imagine what they would do if it weren't illegal to interfere in your campaigns within your country .......

Didn't Hamas endorse Obama back in April?

Couldn't say, but Abu Hafs al-Masri endorsed Bush in 2004. B)

Of course you don't care, because whomever is leader of another country doesn't affect you all that much (comparitively). If you lived in ANY other country in the world you'd be singing a different tune. Empathy is you friend. Give it a good hug & take it out for a cup of coffee.

I think not....there are plenty of other nationals who don't give a damn what happens in the US of A as well, but thanks for the Yankee worship. Empathy is far less valuable than an encouraging boot in the ass.

I get your point. Of course Americans, and Americans alone, should determine who the next President it. But just remember when you vote that your decision will greatly influence the lives of billions of the other people on this earth, thousands if not millions of whom will live or die based on the decisions of one man.

Wha? Are you serious? Maybe you have been talking directly with Barack Obama (he probably feels that way too). Did we get to vote for Osama bin Laden?

Maybe you don't care about the world's opinions, but the world certainly has every right & cause to care about who sits in the White House. So goes America, so goes the world.

Omigod...you are serious. Take two of these and call us on November 5th.

Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable.

I hate the Yankees. I'm a Cubs fan (seriously). Cubs World Series '08!!

C'mon man do you give a poop about anyone else in the universe who doesn't have an American citizenship? Maybe not, maybe you don't even give a poop about anyone else beyond your family and friends.

Evidently Harper thinks McCain is going to win. No surprise there.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Sunday that he was enthralled by the American race.

"I've been following it very closely," Harper said on his campaign plane.

When he was asked to make a prediction about its outcome, Harper eschewed the usual hesitation to comment on elections outside Canadian borders.

"I've always said it's the Democrats' to lose .... I still say it's the Democrats in a walk in Congress."

And then there's this:

Polls have repeatedly shown that Canadians are riveted by the drama of the U.S. vote. And more than a few of them are suffering election envy.

Election envy?

"I know there's an election in October, but I can't be bothered to learn any more about it, especially when it seems like the prime minister never wants to tell us anything," Tanya Escobar, a Toronto stay-at-home mother, said Sunday of the election call.

"But the American election is hard to tear myself away from. History is in the making no matter which way it goes. It just makes ours seem so meaningless and boring by comparison; just the same old, same old. I'd love it if we had some actual personalities with something to say trying to win the election."

American election making Canada's seem tedious by comparison

They did, actually. See link...

Goodness knows Hilldog probably scared their beards white...and no doubt the idea of McCain as President makes them need a change of robes.

True re: Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigade's (an al-Qaeda sub-group) endorsement of Bush...however it was for the opposite reason. Not sure, after 4 years of hammering on al-Qaeda, that their Bush endorsement has worked out that well for them.

:lol::lol:

Here's the infamous statement from '04.

The group appeared to boast it had the power to change governments.

"We change and destroy countries," the statement said. "We even influence the international economy, and this is God's blessing to us."

The statement tells American voters that Abu Hafs al-Masri supports the re-election campaign of President Bush: "We are very keen that Bush does not lose the upcoming elections."

The statement said Abu Hafs al-Masri needs what it called Bush's "idiocy and religious fanaticism" because they would "wake up" the Islamic world.

Yes. Can't blame them though, since Obama is less likely to drop bombs on their heads.

Please, like they care. That is not how it works. Put the reverse to the test. Do you really think any Canuck (if we were that powerful) would stop the pencil from making an X and say, Hmm...wonder what the guy in Rotorua thinks I should do?

Thats not exactly what i meant. I'm not saying Americans should factor into their decision who other countries want them to vote for. Im saying that Americans should take into consideration, at least in part, how their vote will impact other people besides themselves.

A decent portion of Americans, it seems clear, only give a hoot about how many U.S. casualties have occured in Iraq and mostly ignore the fact that over 100,000+ civilians have been killed as a result of the war. Thats not an anti-American rip, because the same thing can be said about a decent chunk of Canadians and their views on our role in Afghanistan.

Fat lot of good this effort of The Guardian accomplished. Bush Jnr won Ohio in 20004.

It's illegal for foreigners to contribute to a US presidential campaign but I think foreigners are also protected by the First Amendment. If I want to take out a full page ad in teh NYT describing John McCain as a senile old "pansy", who is going to stop me?

Not just that. He won the county that was targetted by an large swing of votes.

Another world poll!

http://www.newsmeat.com/news/meat.php?arti...m&buid=3281

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Seven years after the Sept. 11 attacks, there is no consensus outside the United States that Islamist militants from al Qaeda were responsible, according to an international poll published Wednesday.

The survey of 16,063 people in 17 nations found majorities in only nine countries believe al Qaeda was behind the attacks on New York and Washington that killed about 3,000 people in 2001.

CBS News Poll. March 15-18, 2008. N=1,067 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3 (for all adults).

"Do you think Saddam Hussein was personally involved in the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon?"

Yes 28% No 58% Unsure 14%

I'd say 42% of US voters are probably so crazy they're unqualified to have any say whatsoever in the selection of Presidents who just as often promptly start interfering in the selection of other other countries leaders.

Of course, because nearly 98% of perfectly sane Canadian voters will have absolutely no say at all.

They aren't crazy, just stupid. And to be fair, and stupid isn't just an American trait. There's plenty of morons in Canada too. The unfortunate thing about a free liberal democracy such as the U.S. & Canada is the eagerness of its citizens to exercise their freedom of ignorance.

The great irony in all this is that US presidents are answerable to a people who don't care about the outside world and don't even know where most of it is.

For foreigners, the US president is at worst a disinterested dictator.

But it is very flattering....most Americans don't know...don't care...and don't care that they don't know. Because when it comes to the rest of the world, don't call us....we'll call you. They still walk, swim, fly, and die trying to get into the place. America was built by immigrants who voted with their feet.

Funny - in order to have an empire that plunders the world in the most inhumane and cruel manner - the first thing you have to do with the populace is dummy them down to the point - where they percieve the rest of the world as non-existant - thus non- human - much like liberals in Toronto giving human rights to dogs - the more rights a dog gets the less we get! This is America - existing in institutionalized glib stupidity - This had to be done - in order to become rich - to rob those you don't know or understand is easier - and that is the spirit of American policy - the world is goyem....cattle! Meanwhile they get fat like old hamburger munching cows - stupidity is the doctrine that enables America to be cruel - because the rest of humanity simply is not human.
