sharkman Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 Yes, now that starvation and food/water issues have been largely tamed, children need to be children and play. Quote
Guest American Woman Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 I think fun is a necessity of life. A lot of sick children choose a trip to a Disney parks when granted their wish by such organizations as "make a wish foundation." These organizations aren't looking at the negatives in life, like how many children do die, how many families have staggering medical bills, etc., they are looking at the need for fun, and providing it. Anyone who doesn't think fun is an essential part of life most likely never had to find out what it's like not to have any fun in life. I can't imagine it, myself. Many time it's what keeps us going; we all look forward to 'getting away from the real world' for awhile. Obviously this park is being built 'for profit,' but hopefully it will be possible for a great many families/children to enjoy it. I notice that the comments about the park are from people outside of Iraq. Perhaps someone should find out how Iraqis feel about being able to give their children some fun time; an escape from 'the real world.,' if only for awhile. I wonder how these parents would feel about the negative comments, which in effect say their kids should go without this kind of fun. Quote

Guest American Woman Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 or jobs for their parents to actually pay for it , cause the theme park is not free. No theme parks are free anywhere. I can't understand what your objection to this park would be. It's not the U.S. goverment doing it, it's a private developer; same as anywhere else. Children do need to be children, as Sharkman said. Do you disagree with that? But even as you bring up the fact that the park isn't free, you were also critical of the kids being given skateboards and safety equipment for free. just what a starving Iraqi kid needs , a free skateboard from American, wow! You could say 'just what a sick kid whose parents have huge medical bills needs, a free trip to Disney World' about a critically ill child who was just granted a wish by the 'make a wish foundation,' too. But I bet you don't. Quote
Regulus de Leo Posted April 30, 2008 Report Posted April 30, 2008 The reason why the Left hates this is that they hate America and theme park is an American concept. I will see if I can find the link that shows the downtown homes for sale. Houses like in Rosedale , the georgian mansions ...?....going for $10,000 . Truly stunning. So you're wrong on that point. And the Iraqi's can approve or disapprove of this development through their participation. If no one attends the theme park, it won't be open long, and can go back to being a parking lot, or whatever the land is used for now. Also, you're forgetting about the jobs this development will create. There will probably be construction jobs as a result, as well as the fact that people have to be hired to run the park when it's completed. So, jobs for Iraqi's. except the starvation and water issues have not been tamed, nor has the exodus of Iraqi refugees. If the prerequisite to theme parks in a city or country was the taming of hunger, water, and security, then there wouldn't be theme parks anywhere in the world. The big picture is that Iraq is going to enjoy some foreign investment. If more investment in other industries follows, then the lives of Iraqi's can improve dramatically. Quote
