Queering the Family Tree
moderateamericain replied to theloniusfleabag's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Bi-curious? No, my adoptive paretns aren't gay. Actually, they are as traditional as you can get. My dad is a WWII veteran, then he worked for gov't for the rest of his career. My mom stayed at home and raised seven kids, and only went to work because she wanted to, when I (the last of the seven) was in my teens. I dont really care if you put the child of a gay couple into the family tree or not. What the hell would that matter to me? say 2 gay men have a daugher via artifical means. and I and there daughter end up getting engaged, am i gonna break it off because you have "GAY" genes. PFFFTT NO! :lol -
I can count the times i was spanked on my hands, and i think i got the belt 4 times. The first time i got the belt i was 12 years old. I told a jewish girl that i was a german and i was gonna cook her. (/stupid) Funny thing was about 4 years later i ended up taking the girl out for one of those high school month long relationships (also /stupid) The 2nd time i got the belt was about 14, for swearing at a teacher. The third time was for lying to my father, and the last time was for Fighting my father (haha). All in all i turned about pretty well. When i did something that did not really warrant a spaking, my father would sit me in a chair. Hey wore glasses so he would look at me over the top of his glasses and in a calm rational voice would say "Do you know why we are here?" It wasnt so much punishment as interrogation. My father was excellent at making the punishment fit the crime. First time i came home tipsy he want and bought a bottle of Black velvet and made me drink the whole bottle straight up. Being all of 17 i threw it up. Learned my lesson on excessive drinking.

Cindy Sheehan: Endorsing Chavez?
moderateamericain replied to tml12's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I agree. I am not saying that Cindy Sheehan speaks for the American left, I am only saying that she needs to be careful people centrists don't start associating her with the leadership of the American left, as it could backfire on what you guys are trying to accomplish down there (I am taking you side here...) The mothers/wives/girlfriends/sisters/cousins/aunts of dead soldiers very rarely are friends of the military afterwards. Ive seen it many many times. -
Issues with 9-11
moderateamericain replied to GostHacked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Guess that would depend on the size of the trucks. Some flat bed military vehicles can carry 10,000lbs. Dump trucks (short box) can carry about 5000 to 8000 lbs. Some larger dump trucks can carry twice the above. Makes sense you would need about 15 to 20 trucks to carry all that gold out. So 9-11 was a bank robbery is the summarized theory? Not yet. it was just a response to your Q about what would be needed to haul it all off. not impossible, and it would be a priority to move that right after the first plane hit 'just in case' good luck proving your theory -

Perhaps the following will aid your determination to find out the truth. Two Interesting Pre-911 statements "We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nation will accept the New World Order." -- David Rockefeller, Chairman of Chase Manhattan Bank (now J.P. Morgan Chase bank) "The process of transformation.. is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor." -- PNAC (Neo-con Project for a New American Century) document sigh...The history channel had a show on specifically 9-11 and how and what caused the buildings to fall, including detail schematics on how they were built to drop down instead of tiping over. Theres no conspiracy as to how the buildings fell. No bombs planted in the building. I saw the footage as it happend, its clear that two planes hit the buildings. Now if the Arabs who were flying the ariplanes were hired by the CIA or NSA to commit suicide then by all means have your conspiracy theory. Even if you do not want to ask it, what if the CIA had knowledge of the event but did nothing about it. If you do not want to at least explore the possibility, we are done here. I am willing to explore other avenues, I know some roads I have taken will lead to dead ends. But this should not stop me from asking more questions. At first I was looking at suspicious things about the towers falling. Then I disregarded it for it does nothing to support the case I want to make. What brought the WTC buildings down is really irelevant at this point. The question you need to as is why they were brought down. They were brought down for meddling in islamic extremist affairs, from Iraq to Libya to Malayasia the US has stuck its nose in the business of Fudemental Islamic terrorist groups, and they struck back. And the catastrophe was convenient, I do believe they (the US Administration) were looking for one. I'm not sure they were calculating that it would happen on their own soil. Yes lets apply Occums to this line of thought. The US administration secrtley conducted an operation to stir up the American population into letting GWB launch and unfounded war on iraq based on false information, which by the way GERMANY, RUSSIAN, FRANCE, and England intellgience services believe to be true, Trained 12 islamic fundamentalist to fly planes, which by the way they started to learn to do in the Clinton administration, But that doesnt matter the election was bought by bigbusiness which paid WASP americans to vote republican and paid blacks and other ethnic minorites to not show up and vote for GWB twice. But why stop there, The CIA new about the planned attacks and did nothing about it, why? because George Bush told em hed like to see 500 people dead and over 1000 serverly injured. All because Daddy bush didnt finish his war. Does that sound about right? Or, the terrorist caught us with are pants down, hijacked 4 planes, flew 2 into the WTC, flew one into the pentagon, and lost the 4th over pennsylvania when the passengers hijacked the hijackers. -

Thank you, very well said: "THEY" agree. Bullshit. If anything killed the American spirit, which i do not believe is dead; simply dormant, it was "You cant sing christmas caroles in school, its discrimitory." The same people who piss and moan about what America is are the same ones for years that have been destroying is values. The United states of America wasnt founded by Islamics, or hindus, or buddhist, it was founded by Christans who set it up as a country UNDER GOD, which provided religious freedom to anyone who came here, i seriously doubt the founding founders thought "well lets take christianity out of are schools and replace it with morale decay. That is why more and more American parents are taking there kids out of public schools and placing them into private which in turn lowers funding for public schools, which in turn means low income families, who cannot afford to send kids to private schools, are getting less and less quality education. All because little muhammeds momma didnt think that the 98 percent christian school was violating her little boys rights. All the while daddy Muhammed who took the job of the guy he shot back in the ass in the first gulf war, because he will work for peanuts educates his kids then moves back to iraq. You want to know whats killing America, letting immigrants run it. -

Is everyone so racist in the US?
moderateamericain replied to baden's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Yeah, I mean, everyone understands that terror doesn't grow out of hatred. . . Heck, based on the SPLC's definition of hate groups, the Liberal Party of Canada could have been classified as a hate group based on its recent campaign commercials. But in terms of classifying groups, I wouldn't put al-Qaida and the KKK in the same category. I would put the Liberal Party in a hate group all itself though... Actually i do put Hate groups and terrorist into the same category. In alot of cases they work hand in hand. EX: 1960-1980's Ireland. -
Yessir. It doesn't stop them from holding whatever celebration they want to affirm their union. They can even have a marriage type ceremony with a justice of the peace. It doesn't change what we feel in our hearts. It just makes everything equal to everyone. We can still celebrate our union any way we please. Does that mean we could go bullfighting?

moderateamericain replied to baden's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Then that explains why I find it distasteful. I believe that was an answer to the original question. Call it whining if you want. I'm from the US - born here. I didn't say I wasn't from here, just not an immigrant to the US. Using your own logic. I disagree that most Americans are racist. -
Actually in my experience in business, 90 percent of my excuse makers are self proclaimed liberals/democrats/left leaning/etc. I find that most of these types can find reasons to justify any short comings in there business practices. Not that I overly care, there money spends the same. On the flip side, I know a Factory manager whos a classic democrat but is an absolute ass whipper in business. The guy is just a slave driver. Classic no bullshit individual. My point is the blame game or excuse game (really the same thing) is not limited to Conservative/republicans.
-
Thus the purpose of civil union. In the eyes of the government you would be married. I know it will never happen. Doesnt mean it shouldnt.
-
Ill say the same thing ive said to my American counter parts. Its none of the governments fucking business. The only thing i could possibly fathom as to why the Canadian (or US) government has anything to do with it is for Insurance reasons. So heres what you do Civil Unions for all. Let insurance companies charge astronimcal rates for gay HIV positive couples. And let religious leaders decided if they wanna marry people. Governments that govern least govern best.

Again, I think you need to look at it from both sides of the issue and not just "what do those damn Americans want now? Why don't they just f**k off?" Really if someone wants something from you then work out an agreement...don't just be hostile about it. If you have a grudge from the beginning, the end result will not be positive. I understand and agree, however the USA does not have a great record of honouring agreemnts when they don't get their way and that must be kept in mind while at the table. This can not be ignored, and it weakens our position considerably when you live next door to the bully that could roll over and crush us if we assert our sovereignty. I do not disagree. However, I always give people the benefit of the doubt. The U.S. wants to negotiate, then we negotiate. If they are being unfair, we retaliate. Of course past considerations should be kept in mind... If a president wanted to invade canada id be the first one to take a shot at him with my .308. Canada has nothing to fear militarly from the United States as long as we are still a democracy.

Conservatives are quick to blame their problems on others as well. Just look at their rhetoric on the media, immigration, gays, etc. if you want evidence of this. A true conservative wouldnt blame it on others, thats just pure irresponsability. IF i a lose an account like duke power do you think my boss gives a fuck if its something i did or not? Hell no. Wanna meet some true conservatives talk to B2B Sales people. Anyone who claims to be conserative and blames other people for fuck ups isnt a conservative. Even if its not a mistake you made, a true conservative would try and fix the issue rather than make excuses.

Hmm, intresting you brought that up, did you see the statistics for sexual orientation percentages vs all other hate related crimes? Very few *reported* gay crimes, ill call it that for lack of better word, i think the figure was 16 percent? Now i realize 1 percent is 1 to many but the fact that you had 3 is amazing considering the statistics of it. Did you report your attacks? -
Racism doesnt follow party lines, however it my personal opinion if a conservative is racist hes far less subtle about it then a liberal. A conservative believes "fix your own problems for yourself." Which is why we get the racist label most of the times because it appears we do not care about minorties because we dont bend over backwords for em. Liberals believe "you cant take care of yourself as well as i can take care of you." Which to me is more insidious; the reason i believe this is because a man in general will not thrive living off the hard work of others, *MOST* men would feel ashamed for living that way, thus liberal programs like welfare or affirmative action give minorities a belief that they got there because someone helped them get there. Not because the EARNED it. Things earned are always more meaningful then things given. I am in no way saying that minorties cannot earn there way some do and some are very sucsessful people. However in order to bring the standard up for your average minorty we have to stop treating them like 2nd class citizens and offering tons of extra add simply because of the color of their skin.

Yeah I'd like to know that too... Then we can have a debate about why TooInvolved think all Americans are racist. well if hes from neither there would be reason to debate with him. US hate crimes in 2003 *its believed that hate crimes are widely unreported.* http://hate-crime.website-works.com/hate-students.htm#STATS Race hate crimes according to those statistics make up 52.5 percent of all reported hate crimes in the US. (9100 victims) ill admit i didnt put a whole lot of effort in verifying my source so if anyone has a better qualified statistic by all means post it. Heres a great site on America crime. http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/ucr.htm -

Im confused about something, i have not seen a straight answer either way. Are you from either Canda or the United States? simple question. -
HAHAHA, i dunno what it is about you canucks, but i havent met an American yet who didnt love it when a canuck through out the aboot or the "eh". I wouldnt worry about it so much, down here in dixie we have words like aint and yonder that make no sense at all. They are just a part of the culture. What state do you live in? North Carolina. This is going to sound funny but I really like North Carolina...when I was a kid I used to be involved in tidal study and we'd go to the Maritimes in Canada and the Outer Banks down there...North Carolina State Police ticketed me for speeding last time I was there...I lied and said I forgot the mileage signs weren't in kilos... i have a cottage in Kill devil Hills (which is in the outer banks) Actually i should clarify that statment, my Family owns a cottage in KDH. I am not the sole-owner. Although ive done more work to it/clean up after hurricaines.

SO you live in America right? because if you dont you better spend more than 50 percent of you time there to make a bold statment like that.
