  1. Now that has to be one of the most absurd statements I have ever read on this forum... I had a futile discussion with someone on another forum who utterly denied that Bush linked Iraq to 911 and Al Qaeda. If you want to read absurd statements, I suggest you check out the 911 is an insider job thread... Heres my issue with the way the war is being fought. Instead of fighting to win it, were fighting not to lose it, and because of fighting with one hand tied around are male parts, we might not actually win it. Apparently those in charge have forgotten the way Vietnam was fought. Had we gone into Iraq in overwhelming numbers and just blitzkrieg the country we would have had far less guerrilla warfare. I also believe it would have caused less damage to Iraqi infrastructure and civilians. If any of you ever end up being Canadian Generals (absurd, but hey you never know) when you go to war do so with overwhelming force. In other words when you need to hammer a nail down, dont do anything fancy just hit the sun of a bitch hard.
  2. Certaintly we have had to put up with the fleeing Cubans over the decades. A paradise they are running from. I just want the Cuban cigars, any Canadians wanna smuggle some back for me?! yeah but then i gotta get em back across the border >.<
  3. No matter what your political beliefs are, anytime secret information about HUMIT assets gets out it is incredible dangerous to not only the operatives but also there families. Republican/Democrat or anything else, we should be appalled at this breach of security. Real people die over these things.
  4. HAHA, funny post, I think i remember something similar to this about the year Flordia had several hurricanes blow through. It was a map of Flordia by county, color coded red or blue by voting district. The storms paths cut through all the red districts, the joke was gods wrath at Floridians voting republican.

  6. http://washingtontimes.com/national/200703...10514-4800r.htm In this situation, based on the testimony of the sky marshal, I believe they acted on the side of caution. But everyone will have a different opinion on this. Which is why i post it here to read you alls thoughts! Personally when i fly, if i see an Arab person get up to use the restroom closest to the cabin, i get up as well and patiently wait for him to exit the bathroom so i can "use" it as well. Yeah I'm paranoid, but id rather be paranoid then dead.
  7. The reason i hold Israel to a higher standard is because in my mind they are a fully functional state, do i fault them for not appeasing the Arab world, not a damn bit. I expect less out of Syria or Lebanon then I do out of Israel. The Arabs, in my opinion, have brought a lot of there anguish involving the Jews onto themselves. Therefore my sympathy is limited. But you are right in pointing out that media coverage is skewed toward whatever the news media wants to express.
  8. Does everything in Canada start and end with America hatred? Yeah i never bought into this whole Feel good stuff, maybe it was my upbringing. but to quote the famous Steve Stiffler from American pie series. "Im special, your special, were all a bunch of special fuckers!" I just happen to watch this the other day, and this post made me think of it
  9. when im think Marx, i think a recipe for Mass democide. Just on the off chance that someone does not know what that is; its the Mass murder of a people by its own government. I hate it when people tell me that theres never been a communist state and the reason why is Every state That has attempted a communist society has failed at it, and the cost has made the Nazi's look like alter boys. Marxism theory has failed in practice.
  10. god finally, i dont mind the extra weight, well unless i drive my car off a bridge Kennedy style. I hate machines that take dollar bills, if you have them the least bit crumpled its a pain in the rear. Especially at those automated grocery stores now.
  11. Funny, the economists I talk to - real ones say the ones you are learning from are lying. So how do banks really operate ? Its a scientific fact that 911 was an inside job but I bet you don't believe that. You think buildings look like they are being blown apart while they are collapsing ? You think they collapse straight down into their own footprint by themselves and melt at the bottom ? actually i posted a site that addressed most of the "scientific facts" that you posted and refuted a good deal of it. I also posted the 13 or so experts who fielded the study, but you ignored the post, actually, i believe you posted in response to it indirectly by saying the NIST report was a lie. But the post you gave me was so completley biased and I couldnt turn up a single name of the people who did the "studies". I have great news for you, when the secret police in the US start kicking down doors, until then im gonna have to go ahead and label this as wishful thinking.
  12. The people that i am a fan of are.... John Mccain, even though he has toed the party line on the war in Iraq, he has shown himself to be an old time acutal CONSERVATIVE. As far as i know, hes much less religious then most conservative candidates which to me is a good thing. That old seperations of church and state thing... Mayor Juliani, Im really curious about this man, he preformed brilliantly around 9/11, so we know he can handle a crisis on a large scale, but id be intrested to hear his thoughts on the war, and what direction he would take it. On the liberal side, I think Hilary Clinton is really doing the right thing in sticking to her guns on the war. If shes anything like her husband, she will be fiscally conservative and socially liberal. If you look at Bill clintons spending record, he actually surrounded himself with people who improved the economy. As for Baraka, i really cant speak intelligently on him, the only thing i heard of him is he had ties with chicago black panther. I dont know how true that is, so dont take that to heart. Anyways, post away your opinions, if you would like to see someone else run, by all means, post a name.
  13. If you mean the ancient captvities in Egypt and Babylon then it's not accurate to call them Arab cultures. why is it not accurate to call them arab cultures? they are part of the Arabian Peninsula (well except the egyptians) It would be inaccurate to call them Islamic. Recheck your geography. Mesopotamia (i.e. Babylon, Akkadia, etc.) is to the north of the Arabian peninsula. It wasn't until Mohammed led the wars of Islamic conquest that Arabs and Arabian culture was noticeably felt anywhere outside the Peninsula. so it is your perception that the Persian empire contained no arabs? even tho it stretched from India to Eastern Europe? I dare say the Arabic culture effected alot more than just that area. Remember that the capital city of Persia was located in present day Iran. And yes i know Persians arent exactly Arabs, its kind like saying English people are not related to Americans.
  14. And now you know why I used the term "almost always". I was not trying to be persnickety . The majority have not suffered in any way. Lets be honest, suffer is a poor word to use to describe this action. The Christians did not suffer because a tree was removed from a public place. The powers that be must have realized that instead of allowing all religious icons to be displayed, they decided rightfully to shut down ANY icons being displayed. I am willing to bet (uh oh here comes trouble) that if 95% of your town is Christian, that the suffering might occur if the Muslims were allowed to set up a Mohammed statue (not that they can Muhammed cant be reproduced) or the two Jews in town wanted a menorrah prominently displayed in the same town square. But you dop contradict yourself when you post that you "wont lose sleep over it either way" , yet then go on to say that you dont care if you are intolerant. Dont you find that at least a bit strnage? i think what i need here is a better example, In Dearborn Michigan, residents are complaining about the call to prayer chants that are played over the microphones every day. Im not sure what time the last prayer is but in a predomently NON-Islamic country i could see how this would be aggrivating. I personally, wouldnt want to have to listen to it as I sit down to dinner (my intolerance showing) You are probably on to something when you say that public buildings should probably display NO religious symbols of any kind, thats probably the simplest solution. However, I think the main opposition to taking these things down is not a desire to harm other people from other cultures, but because people enjoy seeing christmas trees and etc. Now i know i can speak for everyone but there wouldnt be a public outcry about it if nobody cared. As far as me saying i wouldnt lose sleep over it, i guess what i mean is im indifferent towards it either way, however if i had it my way the christmas things would stay simply because i appreciate them. When it comes to trivial things like this, to me its something i think about with a passing curosity where my own opinion is basically based on my own beliefs. On larger issues, i put more thought into them. (ex war, politics, economics, etc.) Hope that helps you understand what i mean.
  15. gonna make this short and sweet Two states Palastine Israel Forget going back to pre-xxxx borders, lets just move on, give them gaza and the west bank as it is now, and move on. Is this going to happen when Countries leaders in the region want to wipe Israel out No, but hey if you really wanna take a true stab at stability and peace follow the dictum of:KISS. which means keep it simple, stupid. Do i expect the Arabs to ever stop attacking the Jews, nope. Likewise i dont expect the Jews to stop retaliating for being attacked. And whats more i even understand it. If my neighbor attacked my family, id give him the most savage beating of his life. Sorry hate it for you buddy, stay away from my family. Some of you wanna make it to this great complex thing, its really not. Its as simple old fashion, lay a hand on me and im gonna put two in your chest and one in your head. And it goes both ways.
  16. I prefer Freedon From religion. Christian holidays are not being restricted. Patently false. No one anywhere has restricted your ability to celebrate Easter or Christmas. What has been done is the removal in public spaces of Christian icons , public spaces paid for by all americans, jewish, muslim, Sikh etc etc..... Maybe, just maybe , that Hindu family wanted Kolams or dung to be shown in the same space during Pongal? Were they told no? You said.."This may mean im intolerant but i feel the same rules should apply to everyone. " That is what is called a double standard. What is it you want , the same rules or intolerance? Town squares are normal places to hold religious celebrations open to all , and open to all to hold one. This is no different than the Pope holding his world youth days celebration in a large public meeting place (town square) to the Muslim wanting a large place to pray for a special holiday to the Chinese wanting to hold a large gathering for New Years. Sorry moderateamericain , but sentiments like yours almost always come across as intolerant rants disguised as "they" wanting more than "us". The only issue i have with what you say is calling it a rant, in order for it to be a rant, id have to passionate or angry about it, the truth of the matter is that i wont lose one wink of sleep over it either way. However, I dont believe that the majority in this particular situation should have to suffer for the want of a very few. Public place or not. So if that makes me Intolerant about religious issues, heres the real skinny. I can live with that.
  17. If you mean the ancient captvities in Egypt and Babylon then it's not accurate to call them Arab cultures. why is it not accurate to call them arab cultures? they are part of the Arabian Peninsula (well except the egyptians) It would be inaccurate to call them Islamic.
  18. YEAH ABOUT Those nuclear signatures that someone was talking about. What if Putin sells the nukes to Hamas or Hezbollah? Or say Iran develops the technology to enrich them and buys the plutonium from another nation what then?
  19. Why is that the better question? What we're trying to establish is whether nation states have a right to exist in the same way individuals are (in western thought, at least) regarded as having certain rights. Israel just happens to be pretty much the only state that is said to have a "right to exist." I see what your saying, the obvious reason most people say that is "look at the suffering they have to go through" Now i dont buy into that reasoning. And i see where your coming from. My point is by what standard do we determine who palastine belongs too? Its a complicated mess to say the least. Do arabs deserve to live there? cetainly. But do the Jews deserve to not? If your neighbor wanted to wipe out your family would you defend it? Of course you would. I will say this, if arabs say palastien belongs to them based on the Muslim religion they are SORELY mistaken, the Jewish religion was around far before the Muslim religion took hold in the early 600's. And lets not forget the Jews were forced into slavery a few times by Arab cultures.
  20. Way to think LOOONNGG and hard about that one Andrew... You don't think that they would be giving a mini-one to Hezbollah to sneak into Israel to blow one up at the first opportunity? Give your head a shake. i also disagree with giving or allowing Iran to develop nuclear technology, imagine that going off in the US or god forbid Canada?!
  21. Why does Israel have a "right to exist?" Do other nations have the same right (for example, Lebanon)? A better question for you black dog, is why DONT they have a right to exsist? Now im not saying your for the annihalation of the Jews but by why basis do we decide whos land that belongs to? Its been conquered and reconqured through history more times then i can remember. If anyone has a good understanding on conquest throughout history it may be worth while post and intresting to boot. So by what standard do we judge legitimacy? If i recall correctly the Jewish people were the original inhabitants of that area and lived peacefully with muslims. When the modern state of Palestine was created by the british government. Why did the Arab population decide to up and leave? And make no mistake about it folks, the Arab governments for this reason want to see it wiped clean. If you dont believe that your livining in a dream world. I believe appeasment can work in certain cases but the hatred between Arabs and Jews runs so deep that i doubt that any consessions by Israel will ever be enough to placate the Arabs. Anyways, thats my 2cents on the issue.
  22. They have told you what happened not explained how it happened (collapses). No one has done this. Anyone curious about the scientific aspects of 911 should look at Hoffmans site. He explains the technical misinformation and exposes the technical lies. alright poly, i try to look at a situation as unbiased as i possibly can but im going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on the collapse of the WTC buildings. However in the spirit of looking at all options the best site i found which argues in your favor is http://www.journalof911studies.org/volume/...elyCollapse.pdf however if you go to asce and read the nist report http://wtc.nist.gov/pubs/factsheets/faqs_8_2006.htm a list of memebers of asce who followed up this study http://www.asce.org/responds/wtc_team.cfm
  23. The NIST report DOES NOT explain the collapses. It only explains the events leading up to the collapse. Their explanation as to how the buildings collapsed is based on pure hypothesis only. actually ive seen several documentaries backed up with testimony by civil engineers and demolitian experts via the history channel that explain the collapse. im inclined to believe them personally. However assuming you are correct, and i dont wanna go through 100 pages to find the information, could you please link me a site that explains the correct way it should have collapsed in your opinion. Thanks
  24. Here is my issue with this whole thing, Christians are finding their hollidays more and more restricted by minority groups who dont wanna see there religious symbols in public places. For example, in a small town ive seen in the news that a hindu family forced the city council to take down the christmas tree in front of the government office because it was insensitive to their beliefs, i believe the town was something like 95 percent christian believing. My issue here is that minorties cry foul with anything that doesnt toe the line with their beliefs but expect to be able to practice religion anywhere, anytime? This may mean im intolerant but i feel the same rules should apply to everyone. I dont have a problem with a mosque being built, but i do have a problem with being a part of a community and being told that i cant express the religion that almost 100 percent of the people around me practice. Religious freedom should be the same for all.
  25. First off, this topic really got way out of hand, quite a few flames here. I know you are all passonate about what your talking about but tone it down guys/gals haha. Theres discussion and theres throwing insults. I cannot speak intelligently about whether or not Iranian commandos are training seperatist in bomb making and supplying them. But lets think about the logic of this for a minute. If canada and mexico entered into a treaty to attack the United States. (assuming it would be possible) Do you not think the US would send commandos into Both countries to organize resistance? Iran feels total threatened by the United States, and while we are not shooting yet we most definetly have them in the cross hairs. If the United states wanted to bomb Iran back into the stone age we could do it easily and without breaking a sweat, the Steath bombers/fighters could destroy every military compound in Iran in 48 hours. This is beyond contestation. However, to take and hold Iran would be the worse political/military mistake in US history. And very well could be the downfall to our superpower status in the world finacially. If president Bush is really hell bent on attacking Iran do so in the way Bush Sr. attacked Iraq in gulf war 1. Bomb the piss out of it, and take the border area to create a demilitarize zone. I do not advocate any type of shooting war with Iran, but we are crashing towards it like a tidal wave. The American people are helpless to stop it, outside of outright revolution, which isnt happening. What I can speak intelligently about, has been relayed to me by my brother, He is currently stationed in RAWAA iraq a village, on the border of Syria. His check points have been catching Syrian nationals smuggling in bomb making materials into Iraq. Now if anyone doubts the validity of that, i expect you know someone who is on the ground in iraq right now who can refute that statment. otherwise i dont care what some website says. I also want to comment on something somebody said earlier on overwhelming force and just smash Iran with the hammer. If i recall Colonel Powell advocated something similar to that and had it smashed down. The truth of the matter is this in my opinion. If you are trully left with no choice but to invade a country and remove its government. the following rules should be applied 1. overwhelming force, dont do anything fancy just over run them as quick as possible 2. REMOVE YOUR TROOPS, democracy cant be built at the end of the gun 3. financially support whatever type of government is set up until stabilization occurs. Does it really matter if it becomes a communits government? Communist are too busy killing there own people to worry about us. 4. Recgonize the state. Doing so will give it legitimacy, in doing so you look more like a liberator and less like a conquerer.
