  1. I think it's time for you to wake up and smell the coffee...all your rights and freedoms have limitations. All you've done since you have moved here to Canada is bitched and whined about how you where fooled into thinking Canada was better than mother China....And now spend every waking moment complaining and voicing that opinion....try that in China with out getting a vist from the government....] Besides i don't recall the protest being broken up with heavy armoured vehs and machine gun fire, can China say the same thing.... Strong words , but they lack any evidence, and yet the police quote this.... Shit even in most of the examples you quote from those mistreated people quote the same....the police asked them to leave....when they refused Bamm....look at that they arrested my ass.....so whats it take to get people to move on, to leave a written memo...a bull horn, a translator because perhaps they don't understand english.... The only charge that i can see that violated any rights is proabley this one if it can be proved.... This can only happen in exceptional cases, shit this even applies to us in combat...
  2. UN watch dog accuses the UN council of not doing it's job, having double standards towards some nations. Is this another sign of the UN beoming irrelevant, or to politcalized for it's own good.... http://www.torontosun.com/comment/columnists/peter_worthington/2010/06/25/14515926.html
  3. Wonder if this thing happened in BC and those same protestors trashed your boat...would you be singing the same tune....or calling for more police action....these so called violent protestors are punks, out for a good time on our dime....what they need is a good crack in the skull with a baton....in fact they are begging for it....i say crack em, give a couple of weeks in the hospital to think about just how retarded their actions where....
  4. I My linkhttp://thestar.blogs... Take a good look at the picture here , one you provided, and tell me what is in the hands of those civ's my guess would be batons....metal ones....tell me these guys are not violent..... My linkhttp://thestar.blogs... Try again, thats OPP, in an armoured police veh.... For the military to be called in to a riot things have to be very ,very bad...Police have full powers of arrest soldiers have very limited powers...we also carry auto matic rifles with baynots attached plsu great big armoured vehs.... ,No shields and no batons...the press would have a field day....Canadians would have heart attacks....the rioters would piss themselfs...Can't be having any of that....
  5. What you can't fart at a cock tail party, who makes up these rules anyways........ And here i thought it was an excellent way to get out of those conversations you don't want to be in....just fart blame the guy that you don't want to talk to and walk away in disgust .... As for the Civil war....well seeing how one of the most recent political discusions that rocked our Nation was should we change the lyrics to our national athem and get rid of OUR sons command....sounds like a war footing to me....As for the liberals and NDP gaining political control over the nation...come on one look at those party leaders, should say it all....
  6. Yes , but what is not included in that package of 60 mil per copy is things like, a parts package, munnitions package, training package for both pilot and ground crew, Simulator package, special tools and handling vehs package, and Canada does nothing without a 20 year maint package....and the list goes on, and the price will climb to well over double that 60 mil, to some where near 150 mil apiece.
  7. Hey did'nt you guys here, since the courts won't let security use the sound cannons, they've borrowed the earth quake machine of the US.....that was just a test....PROTESTERS BEWARE be prepared to be jiggled, then arrested....
  8. Atleast that is what the Russian Media is saying that the T-50 is as good or better than the F-22 which is really in a league all to it's own....so if this is all true yes the t-50 would outclass the F-35.... problem is how many will they produce and where will they be stationed.... Buying russian equipment has serveral challages to it....a large one it looks russian....And russian equpment is very popular with bad guys....we have enough problems with blue on blue engagements already, can you imigine not only having to worry about bad guys but good guys as well... Being part of NATO , i doubt very much that mother russia is going to sell it's state secrets while it's still in production...Russians are famous from having 2 copies of each piece one for them, and one for export....so even if we did some how get the T-50 ours would be a dumbed down version, Buying spares....Canada would have to have some very good ties with Russia, to ensure flow of spare parts, first time we decided to engage on of thier sat countires or allies, i think that supply line would be cut....then like Iran sitting with F-14's on the runway grounded because USA would not provide any more spares.... And like the man said in the commerical save your money, Russian export equipment is shit....lets stay with a country we know is going to be there in the long run....someone who is going to give us the real thing and not some export version....and the parts are going to flow....
  9. I think Jack hit it on the head , I mean what are we afraid of that he would be a better public speaker or debater than any of those that attended these speaches....I think we do need to allow these wing nuts in if for nothing else to allow them to hear our views on the subject... Or are we afraid that he may wipe up Canada's quite moderate muslim comunity....which as Argus pionted out invited this guy here in the first place , either to hear and debunk what this wing nut has to say, or this is the message they want to hear, in which we might have to reconsider our classfication of this moderate muslim group....and need to keep closer tabs on them....
  10. Now this makes you think...Why release this to the press now, is it to divert our attention else where, or are they about to take some action....i mean working for another foreign power while in office is or should be something that is very serious.... Which provinces , which ministers ? My linkwww.canada.com/news
  11. I don't think you fully understand what role aircraft play on the modern battlefield, keeping in mind that warfare is a huge book, with many chapters in it....Afghan or insurgent warfare is but one chapter...each piece of equipment used in these chapters have many different roles to play, IE in Afghan aircraft are more a support wpn sys....where as aircraft in High intense warfare aircraft form it's own wpns system and have their own plane of existance in which they fight... There are well over 15,000 combat aircraft world wide. And odds that nobody is going to use them anytime soon is just unrealistic, in fact they have played a major role in every conflict since their inception...North Korea is a world flash piont, and could once again drag in other large nations such as china, with one spark and could you say with certainity that Canada would not put another force into the mix....With well over 120 of these conflicts already raging world wide, and many more flash pionts....we can not count out mordern aircraft just yet.... Infact most modern countries with large standing armies are pumping trillions of dollars into research into the ultamate fighter aircraft knowing and understanding that they still have a major role to play in any future conflict. History has shown time upon time again that with out a modern fighter that there will be no sucessful ground campaign. with out dominating the skys your ground troops will take huge losses....
  12. A trillion dollars worth of minerals....WOW, last time it was OIL, then it was a pipe line, now it's minerals....And yet how do you explain the fact that we are pulling out of Afghan in 2011....did we already get our share of that trillion, are we hoping they will remember our sacrifice and cut us in later..... Or maybe just maybe there was a noble cause ....Nahh can't be ....
  13. Well then it's got to be true then, it's got the stamp of approval from both sides of the fence.....and while it is true it is not your job to determine if it's fitting , common sense would dictate that the Gaza situation does not even come close to warsaw ghetto conditions....You do have some common sense don't you... And yet you've explained all in a few words, Cosmetic appearance that they are traped...if 5 out 9 ships can make it into Gaza i'm assuming that 5 out 9 can make it out of Gaza, that and those famous tunnels....Trapped my ass....and while i agree that perhaps Omerts comments should have had him fired, the people in Gaza are not starving to death....unless you have some proof of that...but there is not so it is all a war on words and how each side twists them to get what they want..... Legality of blockaids.... My linken.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloc I know it's a wiki link, but within it it does provide the UN links. And while i do agree that collective punishment is illegal, and some Israelis ministers have said as much, that being said within inter national law a blockaid requires a list of forbidden products on that list a nation can put down what ever products it choses , those exceptions are listed in the link i gave you.... A declaration of war does not have to be declared , a block aid is an act of war in itself....however one does not have to be at war to have a blockaid, there is a conflict there...declared or not it is still war.... Spin cycle you say, what exactly does your report prove....it proves that there was close quater combat, that commando's faced a multi amount of attackers....it proves you assume that they were lined up and shot exicution style.....if so how do explain shots to the front and rear of the bodies....it means they had no control over the situation....if they had control one simple shot to the back of the head would have been enough...No control means everyone was moving about attacking and defending from attacks..try it have 3 buddies attack you from different angles ....and try only to get frontal shots from a distance....now add a melle attack from serveral groups like this and tell me if you had a chance to help another soldier out by shooting one of his attackers in the back of the head you would'nt do so....because it might look bad later.....
  14. Lets get the facts straight shall we. I did post about a 5 star restaurant in Gaza, it was not 2006 but 2008....and you've yet to prove that it does not exist, instead you explained it away as like any other city it has it's rich and poor, and they where using the tunnels to bring in their high priced menus items....now you dismiss it because the link is old....in which i explained there is over 36,000 web sites to chose from on goggle find a newer version..... i also posted about an olympic size pool, built with aid money that you've yet to explain....why a nation, that is starving, living in "conditions of a warsaw ghetto", with hospitals in ruins, severe water shortages ....decide above every else they are going to build a pool.... I have a grip Naomi, i know that conditions are not good in gaza, that war sucks, and people may not have all the food staples they need....but they are far from starving in the sense we have been conditioned, by the same NGO's that dealt with Somolia, and other Africa nations, whose people were actually starving, and dying....having shortages and starving are two different things.....Aid is getting thru in fact as listed by your own team of experts 5 out of 9 ships are making it to gaza....thats some blockaid.... perhaps it time to take a step back, your very good at filtering the Israelis BS, you suck at the PA BS....
  15. What she has posted is true in ref our countries back door response is correct.... Try looking under Operation Apollo, plus other various missions, said to have been in support of Terrorist operations, Sure call it what you want, our Navy was operating under a US naval battle group...in the Arabian Gulf and the Arabian Sea..at the time of the build up and when the conflict started.... Also supported by maritime patrol aircraft, Higher HQ, A comms Unit, a Sea king helo det, and some transport aircraft... Just a piont of note those personal that are exchange missions, are not authorized to follow exchange units into combat without expressed permission from you guessed it Ottawa....Our military pers do not go to war because they are on exchange with any country....it must be authorized...by the PM ....
  16. And this is not an example of drinking Pro Palistinian koolaid, come on....Comparing Gaza situation to Warsaw ghetto's i mean lets get some sort of reality into the debate here.... IDF piracy of ships in inter national waters....this has already been explained, over and over again...why don't you just read up on inter national law, Subsequent execution style slayings....is that what really happen here they lined them up on their hands and knees and shot them in the back of the head... The blockaid is failing to catch 5 out of 9 ships sailing to gaza , inter national aid into the region last year was over 2.1 Bil in cash alone also a 4.5 bil package signed for reconstruction....this year those numbers have already been surpassed....and thats not what is being smuggled in thru the tunnels.... And while the entire reason for the blockaid may be a farce it does not negate the piont that arms shipments have been siezed at sea.....rockets still fly over the walls.... I think it's time we all sat down and just sprouted the truth nobody in this region wants peace....thats both sides....WTF would they do if there was peace....Hamas would actually have to govern the state....Israel would have bils to spend on what ever instead of defense....
  17. Training both the army and police involves training and mentoring, which translates into a combat role....the mentoring portion requires actual presence of armed Canadian soldiers in the field with them.... Why the sudden turn around in liberal thinking, I thought and maybe i'm wrong here but was it not the liberals that demanded our presence in Afghan end in 2011 or sooner....i mean Afghan was a UN sanctioned mission was it not...so explain to me how these new proposed missions are any different than our current mission in Afghan...The wording he uses don't seem to suggest anything different... Pretty strong words that suggest that we won't be there handing out candies and blankets..."HIGHLY SKILLED ABD BATTLE HARDENED military capacity, experienced in modern combat" Very strong words from a party that gutted that capacity....I wonder how that is going to rebuild our image on the global stage ...when Afghan has not... Yes we did purchase some used equipment, at fire sale prices, which will be upgraded and brought up to new standards. In the case of the Chinnoks we did purchase used as Smallc pionted out as an interm measure they did however get a contract for new Chinnoks, also new C-130J transport aircraft, New hvy transport trucks, also new counter IED and Mine vehs, addtional RG31 vehs, new UAV's, new small arms upgrades, also have started the contract process on new Armoured patrol vehs, new CCV's, new fighters, and now that the ship building plan is approved over 30 bil in ship contracts....I'm sure i'm missing dozens of projects that have been started or gone to contract... piont is the Cons have far exceeded any liberal progress in regards to our military....
  18. I will agree with you, Voters have limited say in any decisions taken by the government, other than their vote , or their voice...Most Canadians underestamate the power of the voice...a recent example of that is that Univisty of Ottawa prof and his alligations of POW's being abused....one man got his voice heard and drove our government into action...i think a massive rally would also send a clear and powerful message...so there is a way to be heard...all Canadians have to do is use it.... Thats the problem with Combat, your plan is what you are going to do when you hit the ground....that all changes when the bad guys have their own plan....So it is next to impossiable to predict the outcome...or a cost analysis...
  19. The Afghan mission was not hard to Negotiate, in fact the scenes from 9/11 was motivation enough....most of Canada could not wait until our "troops to go over and kick some ASS.." I remember heading of on my first tour, and seeing signs from the crowds that lined the streets....reading GET SOME, or kill em all let god sort them out....today the signs read a whole lot different like torturers, bullies, killers....not many but they are out there... Voters must own that decision to send our troops anywhere, it's not just our hands that have blood on them it's every Canadian who shared in that decision....it's a commitment that needs to be seen through start to finish.....if you stand there pushing us on to a plane, then you need to stand behind us the entire trip...if they don't have the stomach to see it thru then Stay the F*** home or change your sign.......Our military for the most part does not hand out candies and blankets like most believe....we are sent to make peace and rebuild a nation via the use of force...
  20. Yes, provided there was caveats in place, and the voters took thier decisions seriously....Afghanistan is not a very good example, keep in mind that the Majority of Canadians signed off on that mission....and although today the majority does not support the mission, and will say so on some forum or poll thats all they are willing to do....hence why there needs to be caveats in place, Caveats that protect soldiers lifes.... That being said Canadians can't get off thier asses to vote in regular elections, other than making it law, or inventing a more user friendly voting system it's not going to work... Ordinary Canadians have given up , for the most part and as long as our foreign affairs don't interfer with Hockey Pogy checks and beer prices they don't care....
  21. NO, Your assuming that the people have no control over these nation states or associations, what do you think would happen if millions of people flocked to Ottawa in say protest of the Afghan war...Our politicians can't fart in public with out a poll being done...we need to take advantage of thier weakest piont, the sole objective of our politicians is to get re elected.... But both can be tied together...National interests , should be what is best for the nation, or the majority of the people....not tied to one party, group, or interest...
  22. I'm not fearful of letting them decide on whether which fight they send us, in fact i depend on it....it is having them decide on what equipment i bring to the fight that i have a problem with.... one bad apple does not mean the whole bucket is bad, most soldiers have no asperation of becoming a hero, they just want to serve, believe or not some Canadians think it is an honor to give back something to our nation, that has given them so much, and has so much to offer others...Most hero's i know do not want the attention....in the military most wanna be hero's are weeded out quickly....
  23. Until they get the bill then there is alot of "buts" or you don't need that, That is where i'm very sceptical about the whole process....2 newfies in a row boat is not my idea of a navy.... would you say feeing millions starving to death is a bad thing, or doing it by military force is a bad thing.... I find it hard to believe that our morals and values that most of us have, would allow us to sleep at night after filling our bellies with beer and our local fast food jiont when millions across the globe are dieing and it is within our power as a G-8 nation to do something about it...even if it was done with a big stick....
  24. " I'm curious just how much inter national aid in dollar value is being sent to the Gaza strip....and how is it being spent, and on whom.... 2008 -2009 it was alot...2.1 bil...whats the population figure again...whats that per person i wonder... My linken.wikipedia.org/wiki/
  25. Once Canadians decide what thier defense needs should be who holds thier feet to the fire to ensure the troops get equipped properly.... And while i agree with you there should be a massive dialogue on what our defense needs should be, i think all that needs to be approved on a regular basis is HOW much our military can spend on the army ,Navy, Airforce...Let the military decide what it is going to spend it on.....of course there will be exceptions, guidelines and rules....but at the end of the day, politics and outside iterferance should not come into play, as we have seen in the past with other purchases , LSVW,G wagon, Griffon helos, comes to mind, purchases that have cost soldiers lives or effected the mission, so some politician could win some votes...
