Did Trudeau Fail His Country On Covid-19
Queenmandy85 replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canada must be doing something right. The US has twice as many cases per capita as Canada. This is mainly due to Trudeau's government listening to people who actually know what they are talking about. Note to self: Never play poker with the officials standing behind President Trump at the press conference yesterday. When he said he had a feeling that the malaria treatment would be effective and that he was smart, not one of them cracked a smile or gave any perceptible facial reaction. -
The real good old days are about to start in a few months from now when we start the recovery. Good old days are what you are prepared to make them. When the all clear sounds, lets get out and rebuild and celebrate. Leave the negative garbage in the past.

The Poles, Czechs, East Germans, Romanians, Bulgarians, Hungarians etc. will be so happy to hear that.

Our grandparents also allied with a tyranny led by most terrible murdering tyrant in history, Stalin. It was Soviet blood and American taxpayers' dollars that beat Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo. That is a great plan. I plan to do "something" about getting a million dollars.

Hitler did not have nuclear weapons. If you want to halt Xi's foreign policy, would you be willing to go to war? What would be your alternative?

Warning to All MLW Members - Fear and the Cronavirus
Queenmandy85 replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The epidemic appears to follow a consistant pattern. It crests about 2 weeks after it takes hold in an area and declines for another 2 weeks as people recover. Italy has the most per capita cases at about 450 cases per million( Canada currently is 11.7). In other words, most people will not get it. Of those who do, most cases are mild and few people die from it. Canada has the advantage of seeing the experience of other countries and we can act accordingly. If we make the effort / sacrifice to stay home as much as possible, and wash our hands thoughly and fequently, we can minimize the impact and we will be in full recovery a month from now. The website below makes interesting reading. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ -
We have to keep a grip on perspective. This is more serious than the flu but it is not the Black Death. I am going out for supper with my son on Saturday. The question arises is it safe to go to a restaurant? In a city of 260,000, we have one case of covid-19 and possibly 3 we don't know about yet. The chances of coming in contact with the virus on Saturday night are almost nil. OTOH, even if you do catch it, either you don't get sick, you get sick for a couple of unpleasant weeks or, in rare cases, you need hospitalization. Almost nobody dies. Thank you Rue for your insight and Taxme for the comic relief.

Will it be the virus that takes Trump down?
Queenmandy85 replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I love President Bush's comment after the 2016 election. " I guess I',m not looking so bad now." -
The only changes I would make to the Constitution is to replace the position of the Prime Minister with direct rule and the prohibit any further changes. Eliminating the PM is easy because it is hardly mentioned in the Constitution.

I wonder if we would be in this situation if Prime Minister Harper had not reneged on the Kelowna Accord.

America under President Trump
Queenmandy85 replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Everyone seems to be missing an important point. What do the American voters want? From perusing a couple of American political forums, it appears a large segment are worried about gun rights and immigration. Since the voter is always right, it would be wise for a politician to listen to what voters actually want and address their concerns rather than telling them what they should think. -
Pipeline protestors need to be jailed
Queenmandy85 replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The rape of Nanking, the enslavement of large numbers of Sinixt by the Shushwap, the forced removal of the Kootenai from Southern Alberta by the Blackfeet, the genocide of the original first nations in the eastern arctic by the Inuit, the massacre of the inhabitants of Jerusalem by the European allies in the First Crusade, the Rwandan genocide, the mass execution of 4500 Saxon prisoners by Charlemagne at Verden, the Cultural Revolution in China, the Holocaust, the murder of tens of millions by Stalin. There are many more examples. My point was that the protesters in this instance, should be aware that the actions they accuse others of doing have also been done by some First Nations to others. -

No, it means people are all the same. We all have the same virtues and vices. The solution is to not repeat the same atrocities our ancestors committed. Patience, respect and conversation works. -

Queenmandy85 replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
While I generally understand and respect First nations, I would like to ask this tiny minority where are their protests in support of the Kootenai first nation who have never ceeded their traditional homeland in South-Western Alberta they were forcibly removed from by the Blackfeet? What about the Sinixt nation who were enslaved and forced from their traditional lands in the northern west Kootenay by the Shushwap, or the genocide of the first nation in the eastern arctic at the hands of the Inuit? Slavery, colonialism, and genocide are not activities confined to Europeans. -
There are two problems with ideology. Ideology is the fallacy that there is one overall philosophy that will solve all problems. It also says that any other philosophy is wrong. It is human nature to disagree over political views but the discussion must always be respectful and friendly because the odds are overwhelmingly certain that both sides are wrong. Governments operate best on a pragmatic basis without reference to ideology. Good topic, SkyHigh.

Federal Conservative Leader
Queenmandy85 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So, how many votes did the Peoples Party of Canada get? Compared to the votes the CPC and Grits get? -

Queenmandy85 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So why would anyone run on a platform of your " real and true conservatism?" It is a recipe for oblivion. It smacks of ideology. It smells like defeat. It is the government's role to do what the voters want. Politicians who tell voters what they should want are arrogant. Politicians who listen to what voters want are winners. -

America under President Trump

Just to reinforce Bush- Cheney's astute obsevation of Canadians' interest in the politics of the United States, we have 1815 more days to be interested in President Trump's administration. -
Screening for terrorists – interviews

Citizen's questionaire won't do anything to stop the IRA, the GRU, or any number of neo nazis from Europe or the US. I really wonder how some of these worry warts manage to overcome their fear to get out of bed in the morning. -

It is important that after the votes are counted, Conservatives come together and not waste time festering over the defeat of a favoured candidate. I spent years wasted in anger over the defeat of John Diefenbaker. I found politics is too much fun to carry grudges. People we disagree with are not our enemies (note to self). Especially our fellow party members. After reading the silly remarks I made yesterday, I've had to swallow a bitter lesson. -

First I wish to apologize for my over the top comments yesterday. My dislike of the Social Credit Party should never over shadow the fact that is is just politics. It comes from the childhood trauma of living under Bennett and Gaglardi. I worry that the Conservative Party has drifted from loyalty to the Crown to a more American style republicanism . That being said, I have decided to support Erin O'Toole. He appears to be an honourable man, and as Minister of Vetrans Affairs, he is said to have worked hard on the vetrans behalf. -

Wall was an old member of Reform (and thus particpated in destroying the Conservative Party) and he is tainted by the GTH scandal. Not my choice. -

Reform / Alliance were the creation of Manning whose father was an acolyte of Bible Bill Aberhart and Wacky Cec Bennett. Bennett stole BC Electric from its shareholders in a move that would have done Lenin and Trotsky proud. Preston Manning was the antithesis of a conservative. His favourite politician was Lincoln, not MacDonald. MacKay made a promise to the Conservative Party to never have anything to do with the Alliance (Socialist Credit) He lied to our faces. I have no use for Orchard either but the WRITTEN promise was made to all Conservatives to have no truck nor trade with the Manning abomination. He destroyed the Conservative Party.
