Since Iraq and Saddam were not responsible for the attack on the WTC ; that was Osama and al qaeda; they should have finished that job and not gone off on a tangent for oil. Iraq/ Saddam WERE cooperating with the weapons inspectors and did destroy some borderline illegal weapons. The "evidence" that Bush/ Blair claimed to have; proved to be forged and/ or fraudulent or lacking substance PRIOR to the invasion. Since Iraq did NOT pose a threat to any other nation; nor had it attacked any other nation; Thr coalition attack was an illegal attack. It was and is NOT a war. None was declared and lest we forget Bush did announce an end to the hostilities or some such nonsense. Saddam was a "friend" of the USA prior to the first Gulf War. The USA vetoed an UN security council resolution against Saddam/Iraq for using poison gases against Iraq. The USA War College, also, claimed that the Kurds that were poisoned; were accidently poisoned when Iraq and Iran were trying to poison each other and that the symptoms the Kurds experienced indicated they were vicitims of Iran attacks not Iraq. Now they claim that Saddam purposely poisoned his own Kurdish countrymen (genocide) referring to the same incident>??????

Canadians surveyed about Middle East
caesar replied to The Terrible Sweal's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No it means not condoning the illegal actions of EITHER side. We Canadians should not support any government or organization that knowingly kills civillians, women and especially children. Israel is as guilty and with a much higher head count than the Palestinians. Israel has a country to call home; allow the Palestinians to have a home and country to call their own. It means not supporting human right violations by any country or organziation. We should not support any side just because the look or act more like us. -
Another former friend of the USA; and family friend of the Bush's (at least the rest of his family is) Just like Saddam. Maybe one should not befriend the USA government especially if they want you to help them out with their enemies hmmmm. Sooner or later they will turn on you. Pakistan better be prepared.

Horrific Crash On Trans Canada Highway
caesar replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Truck drivers are well known for helping others when they are in an accident. More than I can say for many car drivers. People driving cars need to learn to give large truck more room. Don't cut in front of them and then slow down; they cannot stop as quickly as a car. All drivers need to use a little common sense. -
Liquour Licence Act Reform
caesar replied to HybridConservative's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Yes, we don't need to lower the drinking age; raise the age of when you can marry. 25 should be right. As for bring your own booze into a restaurant; what's in it for the restaurant if they have to supply the glasses??? Is this restaurants that have a liquor license?? In my day< many many years ago, I worked in a restaurant; we would lose our liquor license if we knowing allowed anyone to bring booze in the restaurant. We had to be 21 to drink "legally" Actually when you reached the legal age; the fun went out of drinking. -
Why should we continue to be stuck in our old prejudices forever. This is not really a sexual issue; it is one of respect and tolerance. Why should they not have the choice of making their partnership legal and binding. They take nothing away from anyone else. Marriage is not that sacred anyhow; look at the large percentage of divorces. To become melodramatic and claims that it would lead to accepting other forms of non traditonal marriages is nonsense. I think a lot of controversy could have been avoided by giving their partnerships a different name but giving them the same rights of benefits that we enjoy and suffer.

What we need is a course in where to put new topics. Mapleleaf seems to start a bunch of topics but they are not in the right category. It becomes a proliferation of complete off topics burying any real discussions in the category. What has microsoft to do with Federal politics or Dutch government acts to do with our federal politics. Cannot these topics be put in the correct sections.

Dutch Consider Forced Use Of Dutch in Religious
caesar replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why????? Are you pro active denouncing the extremists in the Christianity religion. Many have done great harm in the name of Christianity. Protestants and Catholics in Ireland are both Christians; remember how they have been trying to kill each other off for years with terroristic tactics. There are radicals and extremists in all religions and other institutions. We would be apologizing for everyone and everything. -
Why would you sympathize with a leader that sent his countries soldiers into an invasion that was not necessary or wise; nor was it approved by the people. He made his bed now he should face the music. Democracy should be year round not one day every four years. Politicians must listen to the wishes of the people,

Politician's Home Searched In Election Investigati
caesar replied to maplesyrup's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
This is a FEDERAL issue; not provincial. So far it involves one riding and may be hanky panky done by a relative not the candidate. Why not wait until you get some real information instead of jumping to conclusions and dramatizing the situation. This is how false rumours get started; jumping to conclusions before the facts are out. -
Horrific Crash On Trans Canada Highway

Accidents happen; trains kill people too. If you called for more safety inspections< I could understand but trains and trucks are NOT interchangeable. When trains de rail the carnage is even greater. -

Horrific Crash On Trans Canada Highway
caesar replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You can blame Mulroney for many things, with my blessing. But how do you get a logging truck accident being his fault due to not using trains???? Logging truck have always been used to take logs to the mill or trains. The large number of cars on the road is due to population increasing and transit cannot satisfy much of our transportation needs, -
You seem to have a low opinion of Canadians. I don't think we are at all like that.
-
That sounds like a good type of religion. I don't think this is the beliefs of the "religious right" that voted for Bush. Religion should guide; not control, Religion seeks peace not pre emptive strikes nor sending off young people to die,

Why should anyone be free to move where they wish; would you like terrorists moving here to Canada. Hopefully, these Americans will stay in their own country and turn around its policies. The USA is not doomed. Bush has put a large dent in their credibility and trustworthiness but it can still be redeemed. American people are generally good people. Moving into another country is not a"right" It is our right to accept only those people who can contribute to Canada. Americans who want a free world should stay and fix their own country.

Although I was only 3 1/2 when the war ended; I remmeber much about the war. My father was not allowed to join the army overseas as he had only one eye but he trained young soldiers in first aid and the morse code. He sent off many brave young men who never came back. e was very angry and upset with god for allowing all these good young men to die; he never set foot in a church again. Radio broadcasts can be even more frightening than tv as your imagination can run wild. My older brother was terrified whenever a plane flew overhead and would hide under a tree. I remember seeing one dropping flyers ( leaflets) out of a plane one time; we thought they were bombs. The Japanese had kamikazee pilots in WW!! which are not much different that the Palestinian terrorist bombers. I realize that the Japanses targetted military targets. The Palestinian terrorists just blow up anyone civillians included but then so does Israel only on a much larger scale with more sophisticated weapons. The Palestinians are fighting for their right to be free to live and rule themselves the same as our young men were.

US A Hated Nation, Thanks To Bush
caesar replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I am strongly anit Bush and his leader Cheney. I am not too impressed with the American people who re-elected this dangerous cold hearted arrogant @$#$$ back into office. Either they are dumb or just plain vicious and arrogant themselves. Fortunately, I live on the west coast and the Americans on the west coast did not vote him in. They are the ones I will see most of the time. I will treat every American I meet as if they did not return that turkey to office. -
You are the one who is not making ANY sense at all. Give your own head a shake; get some sleep; wake up in the morning and make sense. I am not the one criticizing a man's lack of an organized death????? Do you not speak English or what is your problem????

Dutch Consider Forced Use Of Dutch in Religious
caesar replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What is the world are you talking about???? Maple and I are not even on the same side in this issue. Wghat difference does it make that you have travelled to France and Italy. Who gives a darn about anything B Mulroney claimed.?????????? -
The tensions are not there, Maple leaf. The Palestinians are quite satisfied with the arrangements they are making. Perhaps Arafat would not be satisfied but it is all political propaganda nonsense. Israel has tried to make some arrangements to ward off serious problems. I think all these arrangements did need to be done and negotiated but I think it should have been done without the media. Whatever he was to anyone else; he has a young daughter that will be facing a sad loss and should not have to hear all this squabbling and funeral arrangements discussed before the man is even dead. The "wife" can hold her own but the daughter is just a child.
-
Do you really think he is "most people" Even the money hidden all around was done as a necessity to keep Israel from seizing it. We do not know if there is a will. This would probably be entrusted to someone that would not give it to the media or to Israel. How you jump to conclusions with all the misinformation out in the media simply guessing because they are not in "the loop" We may never know. I don't think it is incumbent on the Palestinians or his wife and daughter to inform you. If we do get informed it will only be because his organization and wife will battle it out in public.
