You mean the ones that survive; that are not maimed for life. Democracy is not the be all end all of anything. A good benevolent dictatorship could be more effective. At least you know where things stand instead of the constant flip flops changes we do here in Canada. Fortunately, our federal government is more stable than our provincial. Suddenly what you have planned for is down the drain as benefits are taken away, particularly for seniors; Democracy is a joke. We get to vote once every four years and in between; the politicians break all the promises and make changes without much public input. Sometimes it seems we just elect a different dictator every 4 years.

I doubt that 67% figure that beleives the USA is our best ally. That must have been taken over 4 years ago. No, might does NOT make right; it makes a bully. If the USA does this underhanded illegal deal with Canadian logging companies monies; it pretty well cancels NAFTA. They need our energy much more that we need to sell sutomotive whatever down there. We buy more American cars than anythging we sell them. Start making our cars ourselves. The only country we need defending from is the USA. Being allies with them would endanger us; not make us safer in any way.

They, also, want a presence int he middle east to control the middle east; Saudi Arabians are tiring of having an American military base on their soil. Our dollar is really not rising; the American dollar is in a freefall due to the quagmore in Iraq and their huge deficit. I don't remember but I had no problems with him. The charges against him were judged to be unwise but not illegal. He is a good guy and is now making Jimmy Pattison even richer.The NDP have stated that they would put a freeze on tuition. At least that is /Carole James idea. Until the election is called and the candidates picked; there will be no clear program other than we know their values will include taking better care of children in crisis. We do know what Campbell has done; anyone with half a brain will ignore the bones he is tossing out right now. If he is re=elected we will just get more of the same higher costs for less services. Neglecting the needs of children in crisis; bringing us down to the third world level by employing children 14 years old with no protection. We do have a large population from third world countries that are living on very scarce mean and could send their children to work where it may not be safe; schooling will be neglected; to produce uneducated minimum wage workers in the future. Don't be so impatient; they need to know the TRUE state of our economy before they make too many promises.

Most of the globe is still free. Why should they not charge for their services. Why do you expect everything free? At the present time; I am quite satisfied with the free product they are still giving away free.

What is that supposed to mean Blue; they were against any day care program. Only thing that I agreed on with them. I think it is a parent's responsibility and right to raise their own children. I do realize some parents must work but I don't think it is the best way to raise our nation's children. Let's enable those who would prefer to raise their children until at least grade one. Gives the children a better start in life than being raised by strangers. More consistency and better bonding with their parents.

I was actually referring to the national day care idea; but since we do heavily subsidized Quebec; yes we are. BC has been a "have not" province for a very short time which is now coming to an end. We have been subsidizing other provinces for years. Lots of our federal money over and above regular transfer payment ends up in Quebec. My daughter has stayed at home to raise her two children; they are both turning out very nicely. There was a national literacy test given to all grade 7 school children; she placed in the top 5% in Canada (at at least a grade 12 level)

I do, I am too old to change. I understand Celsius; it is a much better system but... too old to change. I still like to buy a pound of meat or potatoes not that kilogram stuff. I even like miles; I know without trying to convert how far it is.

Not the west; the USA. It is no secret that Bush discussed invading Iraq soon after taking office. Do some research. Expand your horizons. Don't be Cleopatra; Queen of denial. I found it hard to believe, at first; did a lot of research; came out that there are many many credible sources that show our good neighbours to the south are being lead by a government with a secret agenda. I didn't want to accept the truth but....... Facts are facts; it all falls into place.
