Morals and religion, my butt. Bush does not represent any decent morals nor the teachings of any church I attended. Religion does not advocate killing innocent victims nor does it expect you to treat those who are different than the majority as outcasts. Nor does it advocate everyone packing a gun. The Christianity I learned was: Love they brother. Turn the other cheek. As for abortions; I would refer that people used proper methods to avoid unwanted pregnancies but do we want young scared girls back running to backyard illegal abortionist or attempting to do the abortion themselves as they did before. That is why they were legalized in the first place.

I should state that the information I have showing bad faith on the part of the USA in dealing with the Israel Palestinian disputes started well before Bush JR at least as far back as Bush Sr. He just took it up a few notches and was very pushy and arrogant throughout. Bush Jr didn't disappoint me as I never did like him but he did shock and anger me. Besides all the "collateral" damage (thousands of dead Iraqis) he has sent young men and women to die fighting a battle that had no just cause and did not involve protecting American soil or Americans. How many young people on both sides are dying needlessly.

I am not saying if Arafat is good or bad; I am sure there is a bit of both in him. I understand more where the Palestinians anger is coming from. I don't think Bush or Sharon gave him an honest chance to reign in the "terrorists"., That would not be as easy as it would be for an organized army. Not all of the "terrorist" organizations recognize his leadership. In fact, he may be guilty of ripping off the Palestinians; hard to really know what to believe anymore. Heavy propaganda and wild speculative rumours coming from both sides.

It is not too much Arafat's actions that have made me take a second look at things. It is the aggressive uncalled for actions of Bush that has got my attention. I then came to understand how the USA has been unfairly protecting Israel from taking responsibility for and to be strongly encouraged to end the vast list of human rights violations from that country. The invasion of Iraq was a big mistake and based on fraudulent information which was exposed PRIOR to the invasion whilst Iraq was still cooperating with the weapons inspectors. I think it was Ramsey Clark, former attorney general of the USA; and his views of the first Gulf War that really opened my eyes and got me searching. Then the incident of Pakistan pardoning its scientist for selling nuclear technologies and parts to :rogue nations" without out a peep from the USA that really shocked me. In fact, a few short weeks later; the USA made Pakistan a favoured ally and allowed to purchase modern weapons from the USA??????????

Brian w would be talking out of the other side of his mouth if the Conservatives had won even a minority government. At least in Canada the leader of the second place party has an important role as leader of the opposition. In the USA that leader is usually quickly forgotten and discarded.
-
yes, like when he claimed he did not want Canada to join the Iraq invasion; of course he had been earlier whining that we should very emphatically.
-
Not really. American, obviously over 50% think he is a hero; the rest of the majority of the world does not approve of his actions (including many many Americans). He is believed to be committing war crimes by many. It all depends on where you are and what information you get and where your sympathy lies. Whether his actions are fighting terrorism or promoting terrorist recruitment.

Terrorist/ gueriila fighter or freedom fighter. It is all in the eye of the beholder. Even different arms of the USA government do not agree.

If you believe that Bush is not killing thousands of innocent people without just cause. Prove it. Just from different countries and Bush has more prolific weapons.
-
That is the same thing. It is political involvement. informing / campaigning where is the line??
-
Some feel the same about Bush. ll depends of where you live and what you read.

USA outperforming Canada
caesar replied to CdnRepublican's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Bush can cut taxes all he wants; the USA deficit is growing rapidly; someone will have to pay, someday; your children or grandchildren? Or perhaps O bin laden will win and bankrupt the USA which is one of his stated plans. Just as he bankrupted the USSR, -
It would be helpful for many of us to have a spell check added to correct spelling and typing errors. Would this be easily done?

This is an interesting story on Arafat's and Palestinian money that may be too closely intertwined.

I hope he shocks everyone and revivies. I think he has mellowed in his later years and was willing to work for peace. His death would not be attributable to the Israelis; so I see no reason for rioting. I understand that he is very very wealthy and there could be much infighting between his advisors and family over his money. I understand Israel is attempting to make arrangements to allow him to be buried in the gaza strip and that other Palestinian leaders could be bussed through Israel. One of my customers was visibly upset when she saw his pictures and the headlines and thought he had died; she is a Jewish lady. If the Palestinians are smart; they will come up with one strong leader; then Israel and the USA will no longer have any excuses to not work out a settlement with that leader.

Why does the US support Israel?
caesar replied to mopek's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
We all support Israel's right to exist; many of us support the right of Palestinians to exist, also. The USA has supported Israel even when it has crossed the line and committed illegal and humanitarian abuses against Palestinian citizens. Israel has ignored even those UN regulations that are allowed to pass against them. The USA often is the sole veto protecting Israel from taking responsibilities for its actions when it crosses the line. -

What do you think we are paying all those taxes for? Education and health not just fancy expensive highways to hold a risky extravaganza like the Olympics. Because they provide affordable services for the tax paying public and also contribute heavily to the public purse. Why kill the goose that is laying the golden eggs. -

This could explain why suddenly the USA has such low unemployment rates eh -
US Citizens Are Coming, US Citizens Are Coming
caesar replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't hold anything against someone who feels they need to seek work in another country. Many Canadians have many friends and relatives in the USA. I just do not like the present leader and find it hard to comprehend how he could ever get re-elected. Do these people who voted for him really believe that he is making them safer. I really think it is the opposite. He has angered much of the world and has really shown a disregard for any Muslims. He has made the world a much more dangerous place with countries scurrying to arm themselves with nuclear power. He has shown a complete disregard for Geneva Conventions unless the victim is an American. -
Why does the US support Israel?
caesar replied to mopek's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The USA supports Israel with their veto even when Israel is 100 % wrong -
yeah right; ask Harper
-
Big blue; when you have been on the earth a little longer you will become a little more discerning. Harper is extreme right wing and that is a fact that i doubt even he would dispute.

whatever work you decide to do should be based on whether you enjoy doing that type of work; not just the monetary rewards. A lot of your life will be spent working; try to find something that you enjoy doing as long as it pays well enough to enjoy the non working portion of your life. -
Nope, unfortunately, I don't. I wasn't too crazy about Paul Martin but I despise Harper and his ideas and attitude.
