  1. I do not hate Jews just because I do not like the actions of Israel and America. Harper backs these governments and their actions by his words. Believe me; many Jews and Americans , also, disagree with the aggressive actions of both these governments which are endangering us all with their action and inflaming middle easterner Muslims and Arabs. Harper would have had Canada blindly follow America into that governments unwise aggressive actions. If you cannot separate the two; that is your problem. No governments should be exempt from obeying international laws; including America and Israel. America's non action against Pakistan after its top scientist was discovered to be selling nuclear technologie and parts to rogue nations (America's top enemies). The Pakistan even allowed this scientist to keep his ill gotten gains and escape any punishment. So the USA rewards them by making them a favoured nation and thereby allowed to buy new weapon technologie from the USA. Gaddafi went overtime from Public Enemy Number one to ally overnight. The USA now arms these questionable countries (much as it did Iraq in the past). A few years down the road, will these nations turn these American supplied weapons on our western countries???? Harper's blind support of the USA present government could lead Canada down the wrong road if he is elected.
  2. Harper is a loud mouth twerp who would have had us follow Bush in his ill advised invasion of Iraq. We don't need more tax cuts for the wealthy; we need our health care system back working. We need a strong independent Canadian identity; We do not want to be the next USA state. Now he lies and claims to have supported Chretien's decision to keep Canada out of an unsanctioned invasion of Iraq. An invasion that was based on lies and greed. An invasion that took the focus off the War on Terrorism and has instead spread that terrorist threat and brought more recruits to the terrorists. The USA's unending support for Israel which has defied UN resolutions 7x more than Iraq had and which has escaped taking responsibility for its aggressive actions thanks to the USA's veto.
  3. Re; others using your debit or credit cards; Does it matter which one they use? YES, a debit card; they can only spend what you have in your account; a credit card they are spending money that you don't have.
  4. Who cares about our national debt?? I do and most responsible people. When the national debt gets high all our tax money just pays interest. Pay as we go or don't go. Why should our children and grandchildren pay for things we want and can't pay for. We can be friends and trade with the Americans when they are ready to trade fairly; we don't have to kowtow to their wishes as Bush would have us do and so would Harper. We must diversify trade and find more trading partners. Never put all your eggs in one basket. When America has a president that thinks he can make other countries do as he wishes by bribes and/or threats of economic retaliation; it is past time to go looking for trade elsewhere. I do not mean that we must stop all trade with America; but let's not become dependent on trade with any one country.
  5. August; that is an insult to Clinton. Just wait till you see Harper's tax cuts; I will bet only the wealthy end up with anything in their pockets. Harper would just finish off the job of selling Canada out to the American interests. His buddy Mulroney did enough of that already.
  6. The Green party is a wasted vote; at least here in BC. The NDP are increasing in popularity mainly due to G Campbell and his arrogant policies that make the rich richer and the middle class poor. Stephen Harper and his loud mouth support of Bush during the invasion of Iraq makes him a very undesireable leader and very unpopular here in BC. There are no good choices for the middle income working man or seniors but so far the NDP seems to be the least harmful. I would have voted for Chretien but do not trust Paul Martin He promised no more patronage appointments; then handed them out like candy. He has done nothing to bring the Liberal party together with his hand picked candidates and disrespect for long time elected members like Sheila Copps and many others; most were bought off with patronage appointments,
  7. Gordon Campbell is hurting both the Liberals and Conservatives out here in BC. He did hijack the Liberal party revived by Gordon Campbell but does talk the same type of talk as Harper. We have had extreme cuts for seniors, health care, children's ministries. Destruction of Unions; underage children allowed to work. Notices from the UN regarding this lowered rights for women and children. Tax cuts that only left money in the pockets of the rich while the rest of us face higher fees, gas taxes. prescriptions for seniors, etc Doctors, nurses, and management get huge raises 18 to 23%; while practical nurses, lab workers, dieticians and all other health workers either were layed of in favour of cheaper contract labour or had their wages reduced 14%. The rich get richer and the middle class goes broke.
  8. Telling the truth; that it is right to lie to get elected??? I am fed up with lying politicians from all parties. If they get elected on an issue and then do the opposite; they should be forced to resign. Democracy is supposed to be year round not just election day. The ruling government is supposed to listen to what the people want. Canadians need to get involved and quit accepting lies from politicians. Speak up and get involved.
  9. They did not get UN resolution on the invasion of Iraq. When they realized it would be vetoed they just went ahead and invaded Iraq.
  10. My anti Harper views have nothing to do with marijuana; they have to do with his screaming and yelling that we should have joined our "American Friends" in the invasion of Iraq. Now he tries to say he supported Chretien's decision. I do not want my Canada to become an American territory. I want Canada to be the great country it can be; not following the Americans blindly. American people are our friends and often our relatives but their present leadership is very dangerous and out of control
  11. I do believe that we have no real acceptable choices. I am worried most about Harper. He is too pro American and ready to let them lead us down the yellow brick road. Remember what his buddy Brian Mulroney did to Canada. I am hoping for a Liberal/NDP coalition government that will keep everything moderate. Perhaps next time around a viable candidate/party will come to the forefront,
  12. The only way the USA can regain high moral ground it to vote out the Bush administration. Muslims should NOT be the target only the terrorist. A new administration would not be able to just pull out of Iraq. The USA has done too much damage there now. The USA coalition is responsible for restoring order and the infrastructure in Iraq that they have destroyed. Now Bush is wanting the rest of the world to pay for the destruction wrought by the unnecessary and unwise unsanctioned invasion of Iraq. Most of Saddam's atrocities were committed while he was an American ally. The gassing of the Kurds that is now blamed on Saddam as a deliberate act; was said to be an accidental gassing while Iraq and Iran were gassing each other. According to the American War College; the gas that affected the Kurds was actually Iranian. They suffered symptoms that coincide with the gas being used by Iran. I am not attempting to defend Saddam but let's base our decisions on truth not fictional propaganda
  13. The real reason for keeping marijuana illegal probably comes from the big drug companies. Marijuana is a much cheaper safer substitute for many expensive prescription drugs.
  14. Sorry, I made an error; that should be: http://www.mapinc.org/letters/2004/04/lte99.html
  15. Argus; Here is a website that will confirm many merits of medical marijuana. Following post as I made an error and just found edit function
  16. I agtree, Maple syrup; Martin may of had us join in the Iraq invasion. He may now join with the USA in some of their dubious policies. I am not real confident in him. Harper was screaming and yelling that we should have been at the side of our American friends in the Iraq invasion. I have read recently that he now claims to have supported Chretien's decision not to join in. Geeesh. I was a little worried about Chretien, too. Financially, We may have been better off joining with the American and avoided some of the punishing trade issues from the Bush administration. However, I would see that as short term gain for long term pain. It would destroy and little independence we have left. I believe, Canadians should get busy and find more diversified trading partners and not keep all our eggs in one basket. I am not happy with ANY of our choices in the next federal election. A minority coalition government may be our best bet. I do not want to be paying for two working parents day care costs. I would like to see more parents encouraged and enabled to stay home and raise their own children. I think our country would be better served by children bonding more with their parents and learning more values than the almighty buck. This is not meant as a criticism of working parents; I do realize that this is now a necessity for many.
  17. You are wrong. Marijuana has been proven to be very helpful in treating many conditions. Glaucoma and even prevents seizures. The eye drops for glaucoma can be very dangerous for people with poor circulation. My husbands specialist prescribed the glaucoma drops for my husband (who does NOT have glaucoma) it was supposed to be for a short term but he made an error and had him using them for 5 months. His eyes got bulgy, feet were extemely swollen and the skin around the eyes dry and flaking. It is, also, very useful for cancer patients as it enhances their appetite and eases pain without zonking them out.
  18. America has lost any moral high ground; Using bribes and threats of economic retaliation rather than proving a war on Iraq was necessary; was the beginning of the end of any moral responsibility. The prisoners being illegally held in Quatanama without any Geneva Convention rights brought them down further. This torture and humiliation is widespread not just a few renegade soldiers. I believe that they are just following orders. I few will be persecuted as scapegoats to take the heat off the military. The USA used scapegoats to take the heat off American atrocities in the Vietnam war. Allowing Pakistan to become a favoured partner in obtaining new American war technology right after it was discovered that Pakistan top scientist were selling nuclear technologies and parts to rogue nations was unbelieveable.
  19. Marijuana is semi-legalized in BC where we can get it from the pharmacists. I don't believe you need a prescription; just convince the pharmacist that you need it for health reasons. (I don't believe it is being used much; street drug is better and cheaper) I have much more serious reservations regarding Harper; marijuana is not a big one just irrational not to legalize it when it can benefit many. Recreational users pose less risk to themselves and others than those using alcohol. Let it be taxed and support our health system. Let us not forget; Harper would have had us Canadians follow the USA into the unwise, unnecessary invasion of Iraq.
  20. What else would you expect from Harper; a Bush butt kisser. Our Health system is under attack. Marijuana is a cheap effective medication with much less serious side effects of prescription drugs. Stop wasting money chasing people who use pot and go after the more serious drug problems. In fact, I would even legalize prostitution. Get these people who are performing these "jobs" off our welfare rolls and on our tax paying rolls.
  21. Harper setting a good example?????? that's ridiculous. He has done nothing but rant and rave while in opposition, I read where he now claims to have supported Chretien"s decision to not join in on the invasion of Iraq. Yeah right. Harper would finish off the job his buddy Mulroney started and sell off whatever is left to American control. Did I say sell; I should say give away. NO NO NO to Harper. The other leaders do not thrill me but Harper would be disastrous to Canadian soveriegnty.
  22. What WMD; only ones in Iraq belong to the USA
  23. The "invasion" of Iraq was not only unjustified as UN weapons inspectors WERE still doing their job. It was a detour away from the war on the REAL terrorists. What this invasion has done is to create more recruits for the terrorist groups. It has spread these groups out where they will no longer be containable. The "invasion" was based on lies and deliberate misinformation that much of still prevails today. Saddam was a "smartass" but at that time; no longer dangerous. The invasion was about securing oil not "freeing the Iraqis" nor Iraq's supposed cache of WMD.
