  1. Russia-Ukraine Conflict - Russia Declares Military Action in Ukraine (popularmechanics.com) A Russo-Ukrainian War Could Come Down to Air Defenses. Here's How the Two Countries Stack Up. (popularmechanics.com) Why Russian Forces Seized Chernobyl (popularmechanics.com) I learn a lot from this how-to magazine.
  2. I do think that's possible but I hate the fact that it may come to this here in 2022 with what will mean huge losses in lives. Things have changed in Russia in that there are actually some protests against the invasion of Ukraine. The Russian military is probably better equipped than it's ever been but if they are taking heavy casualties it reminds me of their war with Nazi Germany. The Red Army always seemed to take huge casualties no matter if they were in retreat or advancing. Back then the leadership simply didn't care about the lives of their own soldiers, only defeat of the enemy at any cost. Is the Russian military mindset still like that today? There are some contributors in here well versed in military matters, what do you guys think?
  3. In the last few days I've heard many different takes on the sanctions. One pundit suggested really going after certain oligarchs that actually hold Putin's billions which would hit Putin where it hurts him personally. Putin doesn't care in the least about anyone, even his own citizens. Another suggestion, probably more realistic is that the West really cares more about being seen to push back against Russia more than actual severe sanctions. More like a bluff. A FOX news contributor said that so far, the fighting more or less stops at night because the Russian military doesn't have the ability to fight at night. I find this hard to believe as they seem pretty well equipped. I'm not sure about Russian losses so far but I've heard some fair numbers which may or may not be true.
  4. The above certainly sounds like one world government run by the elites. Well kind of the same thing that's happening now but just with powerful elites that don't uniformly agree on everything. The Great Reset agenda would have three main components. The first would steer the market toward fairer outcomes. To this end, governments should improve co-ordination (for example, in tax, regulatory and fiscal policy), upgrade trade arrangements and create the conditions for a “stakeholder economy.” At a time of diminishing tax bases and soaring public debt, governments have a powerful incentive to pursue such action. Moreover, governments should implement long-overdue reforms that promote more equitable outcomes. Depending on the country, these may include changes to wealth taxes, the withdrawal of fossil-fuel subsidies and new rules governing intellectual property, trade and competition. The second component of a Great Reset agenda would ensure that investments advance shared goals, such as equality and sustainability. Here, the large-scale spending programs that many governments are implementing represent a major opportunity for progress. The European Commission, for one, has unveiled plans for a €750-billion (C$1.14-trillion) recovery fund. The U.S., China and Japan also have ambitious economic-stimulus plans. There you have it, fairer outcomes, more equitable outcomes etc. Not equal opportunity, equal outcomes. Sounds like the Green New Deal to me. It seems like we're already seeing the kind of results from this line of thinking, soaring inflation which is hurting the most vulnerable, the poor and middle class. I don't know why anyone would think this is wonderful. Michelle should have sent that email to the spam folder.
  5. Opinion: It’s time for a massive reset of capitalism - The Globe and Mail So the actual founder in his own words wants a "massive reset of capitalism" and it's time for the "great reset". To achieve a better outcome, the world must act jointly and swiftly to revamp all aspects of our societies and economies, from education to social contracts and working conditions. Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed. In short, we need a “Great Reset” of capitalism.
  6. So overrepresentation means something to you and so does underrepresentation. Would it be some kind of woke utopia if every identifiable ethnic group was perfectly represented in leadership position, but no more or no less? That seems kind of idiotic. How about just putting the best qualified people in positions of power, regardless of race? Slavery was one of the worst things ever to happen in the history of mankind and we can't undo the past. You're also likely unaware that blacks were not the only one's ever to be enslaved. Research Suggests White Slavery Was Much More Common (osu.edu) HISTORY OF WHITE SLAVERY IN AMERICA | Rayfield Review News (therayfield.com) White slavery - Wikipedia Yeah there really was white slavery too .
  7. I wish I could be more optimistic about getting rid of Trudeau but I'm not. Even with a dismal record he still wins a minority and nothing sticks to the guy. The Liberals are going full on socialist and woke and not enough people seem to care.
  8. I know I'm dreaming but how about just human history? History of countries, warts and all. In the US it seems they only want to teach the bad things that happened in that country and there were too many blemishes. On the other side, the positive things don't seem to get the same exposure. The US did have slavery at one time, but the US also ended slavery and that change came from within. History can't be forgotten but life does go on. Why are asians doing even better than whites in many respects? I'm a white guy and when I hear that statistic I don't feel oppressed . Culture plays a big role in this in my opinion. 9. Trucker protesters in action! Freedom protesters rescue CBC journalists from icy ditch | The Post Millennial I wonder if anyone at the CBC will mention this.?
  10. In a stunning admission for a government official, Canadian Justice Minister David Lametti admitted the political motivations for seizing bank accounts during a television appearance today. Minister Lametti told CTV News today, citizens identified as supporting President Donald Trump are subject to “de-banking” as part of the Canadian government’s official target identification process. During the segment, Justice Minister Lametti hedged and dodged questioning about what terms and conditions the Canadian government is using to instruct the RCMP and financial institutions. However, after equating the Trudeau order to the same principles around terrorism, the ‘Justice Minister’ finally said: ...”If you are a member of a pro Trump movement who is donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to this kind of thing, then you ought to be worried.”
  11. This civil disobedience, which did go too far in some ways, is now the Liberals version of January 6th. We are going to be continually reminded of it for a long time to come. The whole thing likely could have been resolved much sooner if we had a Prime Minister that is willing to listen. He is not willing to listen, only lecture from his ivory tower. He want's this as part of his legacy as in replicating Pierre's " go on and bleed" comment. And he's calling out Putin for being authoritarian.
  12. I just emailed my Liberal MP to ask about it. Whether it applies to everyone that donated or not. Is there a limit on the amount of money donated that will be targeted . In his last response to me he or one of his army of staffers stated that his office is totally swamped with inquiries at this time. Usually I get a response in about a week or so, last time it took almost a month.
  13. Financial institutions have started freezing protesters’ bank accounts based on RCMP information, Chrystia Freeland says - The Globe and Mail It's right there in the headline, freezing protesters bank accounts, Chrystia Freeland says. That's from two Liberal sources, the Globe and Mail and Chrystia Freeland. If you don't believe it even when Freeland herself says it then it's impossible to prove it to you. How many it has happened to so far I have no idea yet.
  14. Banks begin to freeze accounts as Trudeau continues crackdown on freedom protesters | The Post Millennial BREAKING: Canadian Civil Liberties Association condemns Trudeau's use of Emergencies Act to target freedom protesters | The Post Millennial It seems to be real from what I've read. Chrystia Freeland is bragging about it. What else to they have in store for anyone that opposes them?
  15. WATCH: Trudeau's Deputy PM mocks freedom protesters with frozen bank accounts | The Post Millennial Yesterday, interim Ottawa Police Chief Steve Bell said that those who attended the weeks-long peaceful Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa could face charges and financial sanctions, even if they have since retreated, and that these investigations could continue for "months to come." "The simple answer is yes, if you are involved in this protest, we will actively look to identify you and follow up with financial sanctions and criminal charges," said Bell at the weekend press briefing. "Absolutely." "This investigation will go on for months to come. It has many, many different streams, both from a federal financial level, from a provincial licensing level, from a criminal code level, from a municipal breach of court order, breach of court injunction level," said Bell.
  16. Okayyyyy so you say you'll be cheering if any western province votes to leave. There is an old saying about biting the hand that feeds you. The topic at hand is the overreaction of Trudeau and it's hard to imagine even his most ardent fans supporting the financial penalties imposed on anyone or everyone that donated to the trucker protest in good faith.
  17. Just out of curiosity where might you be from Jack? I'm near Ottawa.
  18. How so? Specific examples?
  19. Well, elderly might be subjective to some but the woman in the photo above is apparently the one that was using the walker. Some articles refer to her as elderly. If she is using a walker she must have limited mobility to begin with. The point is that a woman using a walker get's knocked over by an officer on horseback.
  20. Some people still don't believe anyone was injured by officers on horseback in spite of video and photos. Woman trampled by Trudeau's forces during freedom protest identified as Indigenous elder | The Post Millennial It's being turned around as usual in that the story is now about right wing news falsely reporting a death. From what I understand one FOX reporter said at the time there MAY have been a fatality. Apparently she did not state categorically that there was a death. The Post Millennial names the woman trampled but the CBC website does not mention her name.
  21. BREAKING: NDP will 'reluctantly support' Emergencies Act vote | The Post Millennial Reluctant my ass!
  22. Ok here you go again?. AOC is duly elected to office so I'll give her that. But being duly elected is by no means a guarantee that someone is really smart. So just that everyone knows where your standards are for politicians, you are saying unequivocally that you believe AOC is "plenty smart". Ok got ya.? (I would agree with you in that I think Justin Trudeau is every bit as smart as AOC).?
  23. I actually do not even hate Justin Trudeau. Hate is a really strong word and emotion. A political leader I really truly hate is Xi Jinping but that's another story. Justin Trudeau is clearly out of his depth as Prime Minister and we all know he got there because of his last name. I've listened to him since he got elected in 2015 and frankly he does not come across as very intelligent . I would describe Justin Trudeau as the Canadian version of AOC except he holds the reigns of power.
  24. Can you name one? And I would point out that a good speech by a politician would/should inspire even supporters of other political parties. Trudeau can easily rouse his own fan base but that's not saying much. Speaking in front of adoring naive teenagers at a WE event is not too hard for Trudeau. I've seen enough of Trudeau's speaking style and I'm not impressed. I wasn't impressed by O'Toole either.
  25. Ok now I know you're pulling our collective leg here. Trudeau has NEVER given a good speech. He's an actor, he's a drama queen. His speeches aren't rousing in any way. He is very contrived and when he does speak without a script he sounds foolish. He should venture outside of his bubble more often. He is like Canadian royalty but I don't mean that as a compliment. He reminds me of Prince Charles, a spoiled rotten man-child that's never done an honest days work in his life but feels he is above the rest of us.
