More left wing nonsense I'm afraid.The Left and Conservatives differ in how to alleviate poverty.Put simply,the Left believes in hand outs and the Conservatives believe in giving a hand up. Given the fact that the Liberals have governed Canada for significantly more time than Conservatives,don't you think they should get some of the blame for poverty in this country in the first place?The fact is,we do have a "poverty industry"in this country.It seems they want to continue the cycle of "poverty"for their own benefit.Whether we care to admit it or not,there is quite a lot of abuse in government efforts to help poverty.Welfare fraud,people with good jobs living in subsidized housing,you name it.Like any fair minded citizen,I have no problem with my tax dollars going to help those TRULY in need,but I get angry when much of this money get's wasted.There is a distinction between those honestly trying to better themselves and those merely content to get a free ride.

Didn't Obama quadruple the debt since he took office? As for the Liberals doing better than the Conservatives as far as balancing budgets,there is more to the story.Consider a few things like the GST and free trade,both Conservative initiatives.And your beloved Liberals fought tooth and nail against both while in opposition.Once they were in power and realized just how much money was flowing into government coffers because of these Conservative policies,they got all of the credit for supposedly turning the finances around.I almost forgot to mention that it was your Liberals that also DRASTICALLY cut transfer payments to the provinces(health care spending!!)that enabled them to rake in huge amounts of money to squander. One more thing,a budget surplus and a balanced budget are not exactly the same thing. I can't wait for your unbelievable,distorted response.....

We can't build a wall to keep out the terrorists because the powerful immigration lobby would be up in arms.I think Canada is past the point of no return as far as fixing our open door immigration system is concerned.Besides,many Canadians want terrorists to come to Canada,like Omar Khadr.

I think you're wrong Jerry,there are apparently a lot of people that do care deeply for the plight of terrorists.I think many on the radical-left(or is it simply the "left"?) are deeply sympathetic with many terrorists and their use of violence as a means to an end.No doubt,the mere thought of a terrorist being detained under anything-but-Holiday Inn conditions surely brings tears to the eyes of sympathizers.I can't help wonder why those who scream bloody murder if terrorist prisoners are mistreated are the same one's who are apparently unmoved by something much more brutal,like a man being beheaded alive.....slowly.Where was the outrage from the left?!

I think Canada's immigration policy is a joke to say the least.Whatever tough standards that are in place seem to be rarely enforced.I believe the blame should lie with the former Mulroney government,they are the one's that drastically raised immigration levels regardless of the relative strength or weakness of our economy.Previously,it was the Liberals that had it right,if the economy was strong let more people in,if it was not,they let less people in.It made perfect sense.From a security standpoint,our immigration system is porous.How many times have you heard about skilled immigrants driving taxis or washing dishes?A reckless waste of talent that we do need.There are at least 30000 people in this country illegally and our government has no idea where they are.Only Quebec takes a reasonable approach to immigration,in that newcomers must adapt to the ways of Quebec,not the other way around.

The Liberal platform is very basic and simple.Anything they say during an election campaign can be dismissed outright.This party has a long record of lying to Canadians over the years.Remember the Red Book?You may find it in the fiction section if you look.The Liberal Party of Canada really stands for one thing and one thing only,the Liberal Party of Canada. As for the Tory attack ads,they are third rate compared to the lasting legacy of what is perhaps the most successful attack campaign of all time.And that would be the Liberal attacks against Harper,that mud certainly stuck like glue.How many times have you heard a voter say Harper is just too "scary"?Where the hell do you think this idiotic thinking comes from?At one time,the Liberals were going to run an ad telling Canadians that Harper would send troops into Quebec!Wasn't there an ad with a gun barrel pointing at tv viewers? This is one aspect that the Left must confront sooner or later,the gay rights/same sex marriage debate.They are merciless against Christian opponents of gay marriage and at the same time they defend Islamism.Perhaps they just aren't aware of it yet,but just about ALL Muslims are strongly opposed to gay marriage and the homosexual lifestyle to say the least.It's like a giant elephant coming into the room.There will be a big conflict looming on the horizon,the Left vs. Islam.

I don't see this as a black or white issue at all.This has everything to do with a President that is perhaps the most left leaning in history.The United States has always been a beacon for the rest of the world,for those seeking a better life in the land of opportunity.Like everyone else in these forums,I'm just kind of an armchair politician/general stating an opinion that counts for little.I don't think that Obama's first 100 days have been good for the country since he is taking Americans sharply to the left.He shouldn't be badmouthing his own country in the first place.Who knows how things will be in the States at the end of his first term?I can't dismiss the fact that he is a product of the Illinois political arena,apparently one of the most politically corrupt states in the country or his association with unrepentant terrorist William Ayers.

Could you enlighten us and explain just how Omar Khadr came to hate Canada in the first place?He lived here for some time in what would be rightfully considered to be the lap of luxury along with his family.They had at their disposal more than most people have in other parts of the world,things like the right to vote and a health care system which apparently even takes care of terrorists who want to tear the whole thing apart.They have been welcome to build mosques all over the country and promote their faith without hindrance.Canadians have bent over backwards for people like the Khadr's and yet it's not enough.Be specific and tell us exactly what it was about living in Canada that made the Khadr family hate us(that includes you my friend) so intensely. And if or when Khadr returns to Canada,he will certainly be released almost immediately given that we have an extremely Liberal justice system.Guess what he will devote himself to?
