The Folly of Ignoring Climate Change
ironstone replied to Rebound's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You seriously see no hypocrisy in people like this? There are countless examples of the do as I say not as I do types out there. The point of this thread is "the folly of ignoring climate change". Most of the people lecturing us must not actually buy the theory that climate change is mainly driven by man-made activity or else they wouldn't keep up their high-carbon footprint lifestyle. Right? -

I introduce you to Izzy Cook, 16-year-old climate change activist. She is discussing the necessity of air travel. Another Greta Thunberg type, I guess. Teen eco-warrior Izzy Cook goes viral after admitting to Fiji trip (nypost.com) She is about as committed as Al Gore or John Kerry as it turns out.? -
If you are making a comparison between Kushner and Hunter while Trump was president and while Joe was president, how do their respective accomplishments stack up? What do you think of the personal behavior of those two during that time? Yes, Hunter is making tons of money and he apparently has no expertise in anything beyond heavy drug use and partying. Can you name Hunter's biggest accomplishment as the president's son? Biden's Hateful Screed

Who knew that Bin Laden was actually a fan of Joe Biden and wanted to ensure he was never harmed? Bin Laden warned in 2010 letter that Biden would 'lead US into crisis' (nypost.com) Turns out Bin Laden was 100% correct about Joe Biden's ability to run things. -

That's a strange part of the debate. One side is not against immigration, but mass illegal immigration is a different thing. The other side wants mass immigration from other cultures that typically have very high birth rates. So, there will be way more people in developed nations which presumably will grow the carbon footprint in those nations.? -

So, was this person wrong? This is AOC! She is a full-time social media influencer which makes her a celebrity. She is also a member of congress but that's really just part time gig for her. She could be considered the face of the modern Democratic party and could very well be a future presidential candidate. She is not a climate scientist to the best of my knowledge but of course she has a right to express her opinion. Is she stating fact? Fearmongering? She was very specific in her claim. -

I'm a Canadian citizen and not a member of the Republican party. You point out that John Robson has a degree in history and that's correct. But there are tons of prominent people out there that are not climate scientists that are lecturing and fearmongering. Many celebrities and politicians and Youtube influencers alike. Most of these people have lifestyles that run 100% counter to what they are telling us, and you buy into it. They cannot be concerned about climate change otherwise they would actually be changing their lifestyles. The “science" makes a lot of different claims based on a lot of different lines of evidence. You can't "believe" all of it because it's full of inconsistencies. Do you believe the scientific data that shows less warming than predicted by climate models? Or the science that shows hurricanes aren't more frequent or more severe? I certainly don't believe alarmist interpretations of the science that cherry-pick computer simulations and try to frighten us with implausible worst-case scenarios. A better question is whether you mainly believe the models or the data, because in a lot of key areas they disagree with each other. -

Where does affordable energy fit into the equation? Reliability is important too and proponents of wind and solar don't bring this up too much. The US has been doing pretty well with lowering emissions in the last number of years thanks in large part to the use of natural gas. -
FOX is rather different from CNN, MSNBC,CBS,NBC,ABC etc in that they often cover stories that the rest will not touch. I have mentioned on here a number of times the vast disparity in the number of violent riots between the left and right. There was violence on Jan 6 but by and large the majority of those protesting were doing so in a peaceful manner. Those that engaged in violence are facing the full weight of the law. Even many who were simply there but acted peacefully are being charged. This is basically opposite to how the extremely numerous and far more violent riots were treated on the Democratic side. The Democrats also make no secret about the fact that they want these leftist violent protesters to not face justice at all and if they do, they want them back on the street ASAP. He claims that the young man THAT HE DELIBERATELY RAN OVER was a MAGA Republican so that is going to be the cornerstone of his defense strategy. This is utterly disgusting to put it as mildly as I can and you know damn well that most MSM outlets chose not to cover it because it does not fit their narrative. Biden Cites Hate-Fueled Violence and Beats the Cultural War Drum - Liberty Nation If this guy did get into an argument with the victim, he responded in the usual leftist way, resorting to violence. Lefties can't win arguments with logic and reason so it's usually jumping to plan B.

The Pandemic Is OVER!
ironstone replied to Nationalist's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yes 4 press secretaries in 4 years and Biden is on the same pace. Any objective person would have to admit that Trump's secretaries were on the whole, much better and more forthcoming than Biden's. Karine Jean-Pierre is clearly at the bottom, followed closely by Jen "circle back" Psaki. -

I keep hearing the "cleanup on aisle 4" saying that describes how Biden's Press Secretary, past and present have to continually walk back and/or correct things he says. That kind of analogy is 100% accurate in this case. -

I can be fair and equally critical to both parties and both sides. Bill Clinton had a very strong economy and he deserves a lot of credit for that. In todays times he might be considered to be way too right wing and extremist,at least by the new ultra-woke Democratic party supporters. You failed to notice that I also said both parties have engaged in overspending and deserve to be criticized for it. Your point about a lower deficit is basically like being proud of the fact that one has overspent and borrowed slightly less than the previous year. I would suggest that while Trump spent way too much as well, that borrowed money wasn't spent as stupidly as Biden's handlers are spending it. If you disagree with the content of the video links and the causes of inflation as stated you're just wrong. Are you going to argue with Ben Shapiro?? These guys can articulate their point much better than I can. -

This video says it all, bad government brings bad inflation. Currently the US has a really bad government as we do in Canada. Both sides on the political spectrum do it to different degrees unfortunately. -

When governments get in the habit of printing more money it makes it worth less and makes it more expensive to buy things. Don't forget about reckless government spending either, both the major parties engage in it but the Dems seem to be worse under Biden. -

You declare it's mostly fiction but you admit you refuse to watch the film. You assert that many of those were just ordinary delivery services doing other kinds of deliveries. Strange deliveries that happened to occur in the wee hours of the morning and just happened near a minimum of ten drop boxes. They just happened to be wearing gloves. They just happened to take selfies while dropping off boxes. Seems extremely suspicious to put it mildly. -
I just don't like how far left Trudeau is taking the country. History won't be kind to him if it's honest.

Do you believe that person is a real woman?? I see a guy that is dressed up in a completely outrageous way. In a conversation with some friends a couple of days ago one of them stated that he was sure that this teacher had in fact been written up by the school some years ago for "toxic masculinity" so I'm not 100% certain that he's a total nutjob. Perhaps there is a chance this guy has been wildly successful at trolling. Whether it was his intention or not he certainly made the Halton school board look really stupid. Who knew that there are no dress codes whatsoever for teachers?

Climate change alarmists want the rest of us to pay through the nose for oil and gas AND they want us to pay for subsidies to purchase their virtue signalling ev's. Can anyone explain why 99.99% of the politicians and uber wealthy celebrities make no effort to lower their own carbon footprint? We are constantly lectured by these fools about climate change. -

Is that a constant statistic for Denmark? This link states that the numbers are kind of sketchy since other more reliable sources of energy are often greatly lowered in order for wind to be able to produce more. A great wind, or not? - Climate Discussion Nexus Even the piece in North American Windpower, which is an industry advocate that greets readers with such gems as “DOE’s Equity Action Plan Includes Clean Energy Program Investments”, concedes that “The average capacity factor of U.S. wind generators (35% in 2021) is lower than the average capacity factor of nuclear generators (93% in 2021), which are designed to run at or near full output, which they typically do…. In the United States, wind speeds, and correspondingly, wind-powered electricity generation, often peak during spring…. Because electricity demand tends to be lowest in the spring and fall months, some generators – including both nuclear and coal – reduce their output or schedule maintenance during these months. Also, on days when weather patterns lead to more wind generation, competing coal-fired and natural gas-fired generators often are called upon to reduce their output so that overall electricity supply matches demand.” The last sentence is the giveaway. The reason wind outpowered other sources is that they were turned down on purpose to let wind prevail because it is so inflexible as well as expensive. Frankly just about anybody can outsell their competitors if their competitors are ordered by the government to sell less so they can sell more. But what is to become of the consumer, the power grid and even government finances if it turns out that people cannot build wind turbines unless their operators are allowed to charge much higher prices than other types of energy need to?
