Others have views that I don't share or I think are just outright crazy. But they are entitled to voice their opinions just as I am. Honest, respectful debate is the best way to go. And there are drag queens in public schools. It is a real thing. By all means, have nurses, doctors, cops, firefighters and the like come and talk to the children about their careers, but drag queens? You talk about hard-boiled right-wing conservatism? Wow, just look at how far beyond the fringe the left has gone! According to your side, boys can be girls, girls can be boys, dozens of new genders, everything is racist, communism is wonderful. Are you kidding me??

To be more accurate, it should be pointed out that the government that did sanction slavery back then was made up of Democrats. The Republican party fought against it. Jim Crow? Wasn't that primarily from Democrats? Democrats & Jim Crow: A Century of Racist History the Democratic Party Prefers You'd Forget | The Libertarian Institute Human history is filled with countless examples of mans inhumanity against his fellow man but we can't change the past. I feel no personal guilt about slavery or genocides that have occurred. Shocked by it? Yes of course, but I'm not responsible for any of it. Native Americans were treated badly by the white man but it wasn't exactly all peace and harmony among those tribes before the arrival of the white people. Natives often were slaughtering among themselves, just like other societies throughout the world. -

California, like every other place on the planet, is not perfect and has its own skeletons in the closet. Don't be too smug, California: The state has its own shameful history of racism and bigotry - Los Angeles Times (latimes.com) I wouldn't call California the most racist state in America but how about the most woke state? Woke ideology is quite racist in its own right. -

So are you admitting there is not a single law in the US that gives whites any kind of advantage over blacks? Are you going to stick with the "institutional racism" schtick? What jobs are available to whites but not blacks? I will concede that giving one race preference over another when it comes to hiring is racist. Are you aware of just how many levels of government are in fact giving preferential treatment to non-whites instead of simply hiring the best available candidate? It would be wrong if a white person gets hired only because he or she is white, but that should apply to all races. -
Pretty harsh. If I don't agree with you on everything I must be the devil right? I don't agree with throwing gays off buildings or whatever else they do in the Muslim world with that community. I also don't want the LGTB+++ stuff constantly shoved in my face. Nor do I think it's appropriate to force it on children in schools. How about concentrating on math, science and English instead? Diversity and inclusion which you guys always preach also includes other religious faiths that may not look upon the LGTB+++ lifestyle favourably. Or is your precious diversity and inclusion more intolerant than you want to admit?

I agree that there is plenty of anti-Asian racism in this country. I've seen too many horrific videos of Asians being attacked. But I also must point out that it seems that most of those attacks against Asians were perpetrated by African-Americans. And that doesn't really get mentioned much by the news media. Asians do well because they tend to work really hard at everything. They are great role models for the rest of us in that way. You didn't comment on the fact that throughout history, lots of whites were also enslaved in the past. It's safe to say that people of every race endured the horrors of slavery at one time or another. Thomas Sowell pointed out that slavery wasn't about a certain race being targeted so much as only people that happened to be vulnerable. -
When will we see an affordable electric car ?
ironstone replied to Cruze's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Maybe the question should be, when will we see an affordable electric car with comparable range to an ICE car and also can be recharged in the same amount of time it takes to fill up a gas tank? Pickup trucks are extremely popular but some of the comparisons I've seen so far on Youtube show that range is a massive issue, especially when towing. In this first video, there's a heartbreaking segment showing a child enduring abuse while mining for your electric car battery. There are still a lot of hurdles to overcome with EV's and most politicians don't want to talk about them. -

I think it's totally misguided to place blame for slavery and Jim Crow on white people, particularly when the vast majority of said people were not alive during the Jim Crow era and bear no responsibility for it. White people today are also not responsible for slavery. I should also point out to you that on the flip side, most blacks have not experienced Jim Crow firsthand and none have experienced slavery. You want to hold todays white population responsible for slavery that occurred many generations ago, but if you follow that kind of logic should you not be pointing the finger at the Democrat party? If you watch the link above, you will learn that blacks were not the only people that were enslaved. Not by a long shot. -

I'm not sure I can successfully argue against the victimhood tactic of so many blacks since it seems to be pretty effective in making most white people feel guilty for things they haven't done and are not responsible for. -

Nobody on the left has an answer as to why Asians do better than everyone else in many respects. Just silence and a blank stare. So I'll ask again, why are Asians doing better than whites economically? Hint, it's not institutional racism. -
You have to admit, prior to Musk taking over Twitter, their hate speech policies were most certainly not applied equally. They banned the Post, but Twitter didn't take these tweets down (nypost.com) To be perfectly accurate, Twitter didn't really have a hate speech policy that was intended to be fair, it was only about shutting down opposing views to the left. In the link I posted, there is the Ayatollah tweeting that he wants death for American politicians (Trump administration at the time). Apparently, that did not violate Twitters hate speech policy and it is still up. Most people on the left simply cannot distinguish free speech from actual hate speech.

More over reaction from the left? Wow, I never saw that coming. True North sums it up nicely once again.

On the other side of the coin, what does it mean to be left-wing? I think it's complete nonsense to suggest that it's the Republicans who are moving farther to the right when compared to how far to the left the Democrats have clearly moved. It is the Democrats that are constantly putting down their own country and it's history. It is the Democrats that are attacking the Constitution, particularly free speech and the right to bear arms. It is Democrats that invite drag queens into schools while denying parents rights. It is the Democrats that sit back while crime flourishes in their cities. Biden appointed a Socialist as one of his economic advisors (Bernie Sanders) ! There are more radical Democrats than there are radical Republicans.

I could have stated that much better. While not leaving, they are having a smaller presence in California, primarily because of the massive problem of theft. I believe California also has a very high level of taxation which doesn't help either. To be fair to California, I recently saw a disturbing video from someplace in British Columbia. Lots of homeless people on the street, open drug use. It was disgusting. So it can happen here in Canada too.

All is not perfect in California and the same can be said for many other places. But one must ask, why are people and businesses leaving California? Businesses Are Fleeing California Along With Its Residents, And President Biden Should Pay Attention (forbes.com) Why some tech companies and billionaires are leaving California (cnbc.com) I know there are lots of beautiful places in California and the weather must be amazing, but I've also seen some truly shocking images of the utter filth in the streets. Not to mention the soft on crime policy. Some big chain stores are leaving because of that. They cannot stay in business if it's practically legal to steal. Is there anyone here on the left side that truly believes that California is the model that the rest of the country should aspire to? The serious problems listed by reason10 are very real. The idea of reparations to blacks is a bad idea but it's not surprising that it may come to pass in a place like California.

I'm curious as to what some of your favourite news sources are. Can you share? And again, you talk about my "programming" but you clearly only watch news sources that you feel are agreeing with your narrative. We rely on different sources and often come to totally different conclusions. I do not think that the government should be funding news agencies that will be covering them. It's a waste of taxpayer dollars.
-
How does that not also apply to your favourite news sources like CTV, CBC or Global? The Social? True North is not on the public dime either.

True North is one of the best news sources in Canada and this is another shameless plug for them by me.

I don't see what the big deal is with this ASA. I do see Ottawa( the Liberals) using this as yet another example of not letting a crisis go to waste and demonizing Alberta yet again. And no, the ASA is not a crisis in any way, shape or form.

But you guys also hate natural gas too, don't you? I don't think anyone who disagrees with my points read a link I posted earlier. Three things Biden has done that increased gas prices | Washington Examiner Since taking office, Biden has taken too many steps to count to limit domestic production. These include halting federal permits for oil and gas drilling and leasing shortly after taking office and blocking drilling in a major oil-rich Alaskan region. To be clear, these decisions will mostly affect future production. But that does still significantly affect gas prices because companies factor in their expectations about the future into the decisions they make today. “Some say that new leases … would have taken time and would not yet be online, but even so, there is evidence that expectations of increased future supply has a beneficial impact on current prices and expectations of future supply drying up has a negative impact on current prices,” the Competitive Enterprise Institute’s Ben Lieberman said. “At a day-to-day level, I am hearing from drillers that they are having a very hard time getting all the approvals they need from [the Environmental Protection Agency] and other agencies in order to produce on existing wells, and of course, new federal leasing has come to a halt,” Lieberman added. It’s just basic economics that when the government throttles future supply in an industry, that will lead to higher prices both now and in the future. Biden was warned by many critics at the time that this would happen, but he proceeded anyway.

Why Biden energy policies have contributed to surging oil prices (nypost.com) How about these reasons? 25 Biden policies raising gas prices and other energy costs - Americans for Prosperity Three things Biden has done that increased gas prices | Washington Examiner When Biden says he will forbid drilling or any new leases that impacts the decisions oil companies make right now. There are reasons that oil prices skyrocketed when Biden took office, and also reasons why oil prices were much cheaper when Trump was running the show.
