  1. Where do you think battery tech will be in 10 years? What do you think the limits will be? It's debatable if oil companies are dictating to governments now. Maybe they are, maybe not. But what big business entities are dictating to the governments now about EV's? I still think governments should not be forcing consumers into this. Engineering Explained on YouTube has a few interesting videos about this subject listing the pros and cons of each side.
  2. It's not that big of a stretch. If you will recall during the SNC Lavalin scandal, Wilson-Raybould was told by Katie Telford( Trudeau advisor) that she would promise to obtain positive media coverage to help the Liberals. PMO promised Wilson-Raybould positive media attention if she were to intervene in SNC-Lavalin case | The Post Millennial | thepostmillennial.com According to the transcript, Telford said that “if Jody is nervous, we would of course line up all kinds of people to write op eds saying that what she’s doing is proper.” It's not a ridiculous notion at all.
  3. A Democrat wins a border state with a huge illegal immigration problem. This Democrat oversaw the Arizona election process and refused to recuse herself. And no surprise, it took a very long time to tabulate the ballots. Yeah, nothing fishy about that. Arizona Sheriff on Illegal Immigration: ‘This Is the Worst We’ve Ever Seen It’ | CNSNews
  4. If Republicans don't want millions of people streaming across the border illegally they are called racists. When a Democrat tells those same people "do not come" there is mostly silence. Yes, a lot of those people are fleeing turmoil and poverty but often much of that is self inflicted. See Venezuela. Other countries are seemingly always mired in turmoil and poverty. Why? I don't have the answers. In the video above, Harris states that the US will continue to enforce the laws and secure the border. Nowhere close to that in reality, and that inaction heavily contributes to those people flooding to the border knowing full well they stand an excellent chance of jumping to the head of the line, easily ahead of those wanting to come to the US legally.
  5. There are going to be soooo many problems with this mandate. But governments always know best right? Someone made a silly point earlier that carrying 800km of gas makes me go to the gas station more often. For the sake of comparison, I'm carrying around about 75lbs which gets lighter as I drive. An EV battery is around 1000lbs of weight for half the range at best, and that weight is constant. That's for half the range...which declines annually. In the videos posted above, there are still major hurdles to overcome, some of which may defy the limits of physics. I've said repeatedly, I favor the all of the above approach. We will still have to pay those high taxes one way or another.
  6. Is it safe for me to assume that you only trust Canadian media sources now receive taxpayer funding? Are you also in favor of Bill C-11 and C-18 which amount to government censorship of the internet? I can't rely on CTV or CBC for honest, unbiased reporting.
  7. The answer to that question might be something we actually can agree on. The major news networks often cover stories in totally different fashions, as in the way that helps push their own narrative. It's also common that certain stories will either not get mentioned or perhaps dismissed altogether. Those major networks, including FOX, cater to their own audience for the most part(although I personally feel FOX is better than their competitors). You did mention the death rate being much higher for unvaccinated people but that seems very disputable given the stats cited in the first post of this thread. The media did exaggerate the death rate in a way by not clearly pointing out that the majority of those deaths were with people that had compromised immune systems, and were mainly elderly. CNN had a death counter running up until the time that Trump left office. The reason for that was purely political and in no way for the benefit of the population. I don't think anyone should be putting absolute trust in any major news network.
  8. In the Russell Brand video I posted were links to articles about the efficacy of those vaccines and the promises made by execs that they would not make much money of them either. I have nothing against profits but why did they make that promise in the first place? Pfizer’s CEO rapped by regulator for making ‘misleading’ statements about children’s vaccines (telegraph.co.uk) Behind every great fortune... - by Alex Berenson (substack.com) Pfizer forecasts $100B in sales, fueled by COVID-19 vaccine, pill | BioPharma Dive Drug Industry’s Chief Lobbying Group’s Revenue Surpassed $609 Million in 2021 - Truthout Brand does come across as a pretty intelligent guy as far as I'm concerned. I can't think of many other big name celebrities that can converse like that on so many different subjects. He's got quite a deep vocabulary, at least compared to most other celebrities that depend largely on script writers for their livelihood. Do you believe he's deliberately lying and/or making things up to his viewers?
  9. In this particular video he referenced a lot of actual news headlines that indicated that the reported efficacy of Covid vaccines has been dropping steadily over time. He often has very reputable guests on his show and they actually get to speak without interruption. There can't be too many cable news programs that go into this amount of detail as they put their commercial interests ahead of everything else. I didn't have a high opinion of Russell Brand before until I happened to watch his channel a couple of times. Yes, he infuses a lot of humor into whatever topic he happens to be covering but he does come across as a pretty intelligent guy. I do find that there are better sources out there than the usual suspects on cable news. Who would you suggest I listen to for information? Anderson Cooper? Joy Reid? One network in particular?
  10. That male shouldn't have been in the female washroom in the first place. And this sure sounds like a pretty nasty assault even though some here dismiss it as insignificant. You guys on the left are trying to turn the world on its head with your "science". Now violent criminals can greatly lessen the severity of their sentences by going the trans route. Male-To-Female Transgender Allowed To Serve Time In Women’s Prison. Then This Happens. | The Daily Wire Male Inmates in Women’s Prisons - WSJ Biological Male Transgender Paedophile Sent to Female Prison in England (breitbart.com)
  11. I wonder how many people in this forum have had Covid? If you did, were the symptoms bad or mild? I haven't had it yet, touch wood. Every other person at my place of employment has had it and it was company policy for us to get vaxxed.
  12. I'm not sure if I would lump them into the MSM category just yet, but they still cover some stories that the others don't like to touch. Yes, the Democrats still win even with FOX dominating the news but perhaps if they did not exist the Democrats would be almost unbeatable. Recently on the Munk debates program, Matt Taibbi made a great point at the beginning when he pointed out that all of the major networks cater to their targeted demographic and basically only tell them what they want to hear. This is true and that includes FOX as well. I personally think their overall coverage is still superior to the rest but there's always room for improvement. I would suggest that anyone interested in this topic check out the actual debate itself as it was really interesting and both sides always have equal time. The audience get's polled before and after the event as to whether opinions shift.
  13. I'm not going to defend Bev Oda. I'm just saying that if she had been a Liberal she likely would not have faced anywhere near the same pressure and would not resign either.
  14. Yikes, these snowflakes are the future!
  15. This is not a huge amount of money but it's kind of a double standard to me. I remember a Conservative that got raked over the coals for $16 orange juice. Bev Oda resigned over that incident. She got tons of negative press for her behavior which is fair game but for the fact that far worse behavior by a number of Liberals, including Justin Trudeau, gets far less attention in the media. I don't know, perhaps the standards of the media today are just lower than ever and the bias is at its highest.
  16. We all wish there wasn't a crime problem but the stats are pretty ugly. What the Real Stats Say About Black and White Crime: The Woke Crowd Will Hate Every One of These (westernjournal.com)
  17. Are you trying to suggest that most of the blacks currently in prison are in fact, innocent of any crimes? They are only there because of skin colour and overzealous cops?
  18. Whatever moves the Liberals make it's always going to be business as usual for them at the end of the day. Woke policies that don't actually help the average Canadian. And they will continue to give us a giant FU when it comes to yet more ethics violations.
  19. Where exactly do I find this white privilege? I am white, so where and how do I or any other white person go out and enrich ourselves right now? Is it everywhere? Does it only exist in certain places or circumstances? In government? Most or all of the private sector?
  20. I made that statement and I am not suggesting that racism does not exist, only that it's not systemic. I also would suggest that the fact that Asians tend to do very well has more to do with cultural differences compared to other groups. Hell, I'm probably going to be called racist for saying Asians have a great work ethic.
  21. To your last paragraph, about blacks more likely to be arrested. Blacks do commit a disproportionate amount of crime so that's why they tend to have more interactions with police. I bet whites commit more crimes proportionately than Asians too. Black vs. White Crime Statistics Updated December 2022 - Why White Privilege Isn't The Problem (whiteprivilegeisntreal.org) Homicide Trends in the United States, 1980-2008 (ojp.gov) And to top things off, even if systemic racism were real, you offer no sensible solution. Giving preference to one race over others does not help in any way to foster any kind of racial harmony. The process for hiring or for loans should be entirely colour blind and only based on merit.
  22. You posted a lot of videos of black/ police interactions so you're implying that this happens primarily with black people. On YouTube there are lots of auditing style channels which show interactions with people( many of whom happen to be white) and law enforcement. Often in these videos the cops overstep their authority and sometimes they act entirely appropriately. I wouldn't characterize these inappropriate interactions as institutional racism, more like some cops (not all) being on an ego trip.
