No....any good journalist strives to be an editor.....not a mouth piece. The morons in the Star (DiManno, etal) are just as bad. There are those who can straddle both lanes but they are few.

Its easier to write opinion pieces.....and they make better money.....everyone is looking for confirmation bias of their shitty lives. Funny when you can say Can't Comment.....it must mean the other party who is quick to air their grievance....must be truthful. I would like to see the law changed that as soon as one party opens their mouth you can just dump all your evidence in the public without consequence legally.

She's a court commenter.....she saw Joe Warmington's schtick and saw it pays the bills better. She talked to the outrager......just like in her court pieces......court is offender bias, everyone's an elite (which by the way she is)......blah blah. I especially find it hilarious all are outraged by an opinion piece by a columnist who has made her bona fides on being "outraged" by snowflakes. I think this is why she's switched from journalism to "outrage news" and crime books. Easier to write. Were not the principal, parents or third party students not available for comment? The tolls are for transit infrastructure.....which includes the gardiner and dvp. Why do you also think your provincial and federal gas tax pays for municipal roads? Taxes are paying for grading and paving. Overpass structures need rebuild. Drainage needs redesign with increased runoff due to density building. You pay in your power bill to maintain and upgrade infrastructure, you pay in your gas bill the same......your taxes don't cover it. So pick....societal pay or user pay......but some people are going to have to pay more.

Is there a correlation between thread traffic of a post and quantity of trolling? In other words are trolls trolling regardless of who is watching or is it performance to an audience? You seem to be arguing there is no difference between culture and doctrine yet only with respect to one religion. "Deplorable" behaviour is influenced by culture not prescripted.

Where do we register these "funds for access" schemes so they can be cancelled? So no lobbyists? There are pros & cons associated with this. Lobbyists provide a needed service; educating dumb politicians about complicated issues. I don't blame lobbyists that politicians are so easily bought and sold.

I'm one of those tourists. I however enter people's homes and broke bread with them. As been said the "elites" had the problem with the party. The common citizen whether blinded by propoganda or not appreciated what the gov't was able to accomplish despite US embargo which is what they blamed for their economic situation. They believed that Castro shielded them from US corruption that would own their country. The strict resource control was due out of neccesity.....due to limited economic growth. They believe now with markets opening they can improve.....still maintaing cuban identity and control.

Subtract the violence, what is the problem with announcing publicly disatisfaction with a political situation? Is there a best before date on political activism? The problem with gen-x democracy is its a commercial break attitude. I'll care about politics if I can fit it in between Survivor and The Bachelor. Political engagement, not partisanship, should be a perpetual affair but we treat it like the Olympics.....I care about Usain Bolt running fast about the same frequency as I care about my Mayor flushing my residential taxes on his pet project.
