Your analogy would be appropriate if the gov't forgoes tax collection on the purchase of a car. Its not that you can contribute anything you want.....its that the gov't will highly benefit only the group who can do it......so sure drop in whatever you want but the tax benefit ends where all can contribute.

But yes when I heard it I thought why do they get first dibs on the stock.....that's a crock. Then I thought its brilliant by the gov't. It's a private buy....so you canxt just put them on the market for profit and any cost cutting will be done by a board with "full support" of its dividend maximizing shareholder. It's diabolical.

I don't disagree....but its hardly not what it means. I think however the stick should maximum be stay status quo unless something new is negotiated.....its a bit ingenuous to bargain knowing you can just legislate what you wish. There has to be an immediate price in bad bargaining for "management" if there is one for labour.....voting out in 4 years is not it......CEO's can get an immediate turf.

Does he pay income taxes in his countries of residence? Is he "on assignment" from that Cdn firm? Is he required to be a non-resident (ie. >180ish days) or does he chose so for convenience?
