  1. No doubt about it in the least that it's torture and illegal in all situations and regardless of circumstances. The US executed Japanese prisoners following WW2 for waterboarding Americans. It's a capital offence and should be punished with life in prison. I don't support the death penalty just as nearly all civilized countries don't and that's why I don't advocate killing the Americans responsible for waterboarding. Why would anyone be in doubt about the question and need a poll to answer the question?
  2. I assure you my friend that I never embarrass myself. I invite you to try to do it though as opposed to jsut slinging some more murican mud and personal attacks against people who make you think. Not people who embarrass you because you people are beyond being embarrased about your evil deeds. You think it's just fine to run roughshod over oil rich countries. Is Iran or Venezuela next? Place your bets folks.
  3. Yes shady, that's your usual considered response when you get upstaged. Same old shady.
  4. No, Canada is not good and our presence in Afghanistan fighting another US war is proof of that. Rather than take the high road and stay out of it as most European countries are doing, Harper has succumbed to the US econmic blackmail. Canada was duped into taking part in Clinton's Kosovo war but that's no excuse to not bear the guilt. Republicans opposed that war so they will be able to understand that right away. Americans usually only support their own party's wars. The Freepers were very vocally against that one too.
  5. jbg, shady, and everyone else- I invite all you Americans to read this report on the PNAC document. http://home.earthlink.net/~platter/neo-con...atism/pnac.html And very damning evidence on what the US is really up to: And there's much more so read it all and bring yourselves up to date on what the gameplan is all about.
  6. Actually I had children and I ate them. But not before they could have grandchildren and I ate them too. But let's try to be serious now. My name is not insulting and it needn't be reported to the hate police but if Bush/Cheney wants to have a go at doing that then fill your boots. My name is simply a statement of fact. The attacks of 9/11 were revenge attacks against the US and nothing else. I think the only way anyone can possibly deny that is to be so patriotic for their country that it taints their peception of reality. I understand that perfectly. For example, if I chose to go and kill someone for some material goods that person has then I would become an enemy of his loved ones. If one of his came and muredered one of my family members in turn then it would be revenge but it wouldn't prevent me from irrationally hating that person and wanting more revenge in return. Even though it was me who started the killing in the first place. This is exactly the situation except that it is on a much larger scale. Osam has made that abundantly clear and you people can ignore him at your own peril. Therefore you Americans need to shoulder the responsibility for your evil deeds and accept this small insignificant token as punishment in small part. You have no power to assert your control over the thoughts of others unless it is a real and true expression of hate, which of course 'is' against the law. It clearly isn't because many books have now been written by Americans themselves expressing the exact same views. Learn to live with your guilt because you own it fully. And so: THE USA HAD IT COMING!
  7. You are at a loss for any valid argument and you have become a waste of my time. Have a nice day!
  8. There is possibly that much but that comment goes to prove even more that the 48 has little and it's declining. And you fail to mention that the 48 has much less than half of what the US requires for it's current rate of consumption. You also prefer to take each development in isolation which helps to hide the plain fact that ANWR couldn't supply more than about 10% of demand for x number of years. Good, you understand that the world is a hydrocarbon economy! Telling me that the US produces and consumes is just a waste of valuable cyberspace but you probably knew that and just needed something else to say. You should never have gotten yourself into this because when the facts and figures are presented and you have no decent rebuttal your halfassed claims of oil not being the reason for US presence on the Arabian peninsula are shot down in flames. Your usefulness is in the fact that you have provided the perfect sounding board for an exposure of the real facts. Most likely all you will ever be much good for. Now I'll sit back and wait to see if there are any other deniers who have the brains or the balls to climb on your train as it clatters and clanks down the rails with some wheels missing. You really have conceded all my other points and although you continue to act like a smart guy now, it should be obvious to most other posters here that your short, rude, and terse replies just demonstrate that you are in over your head.
  9. He comes off to me as having some serious mental problems and it's probably a carryover from his time in captivity. But on the positive side he's not very smart obviously and so could be manipulated just as easily as the current moron. What is really worrying is that the US military is very gung-ho aggressive as most military people are of course and McCain would put no barriers in their way. In fact he would be so inclined to give them everything they want as far as further warring exploits and ensure there was no moderating factor. Very, very dangerous thinking in the extreme because the US feels threatened by China and knows that it's chance to act will not last much longer. If their NMD system (really NMO) can be developed fast enough then McCain is for sure the worst choice. China understands completely and is in the process of developing a capability to couter the US. Shooting down US satellites and destroying their comms and missile guidance systems is formost on their minds. In short, McCain is way too volatile but will it really matter all that much to the rest of the world who is their next president? They have chosen their course and that is world domination. That was clearly stated even before Bush/Cheney.
  10. Greenthumb is right on that one Shady. There's lots to jump on the kid for but when he gets it right it makes you look foolish when you question him. Of course many freedom have slipped away and if he's worth his salt he should be able to name you a few. Then you will be once again proven wrong by a foolish kid. Now show us what you're made of Greenthumb so I won't have to do it for you.
  11. If you don't like to act like a Canadian then stop acting like an American in denial. The world knows the truth and there is so much at stake that it's important enough for the world to talk about and try to correct those who support the US evil wars of aggression. Nothing less than the millions of lives of innocent civilians who have died under US bombs. Not to mention the millions more who will die if they are not stopped. It's an honourable cause and I will not stop. Any other opinion on the future fate of those people is not legitmate in my opinion.
  12. You only want to deny the reality of the situation because the exports are not nearly enough and it is reflected in the US trade deficit. Stop trying to use examples like that to paint a false picture. I note that you needed to add 'other foreign' as you were writing and thinking at the same time. In fact it is nearly all US investment but you are right that it wouldn't have been developed nearly as quickly if it hadn't been for US demands. Now you're starting to get it! Yes, this is the standard argument and it has some validity. But the demand for oil has been foreseen and hence the development of the tarsands by US interests. Therefore without that 5 million a day the shortage would have driven the price up even further and Saddam had nationalized his oil resources and was not doling out development work to the US because it favoured others. Hence no trade for oil and the US pays the full price. As opposed to Saudi where the cost is offset with WMD sales and some dollars off for the US. And of course the Iraq war was never supposed to cost anywhre near it's current cost. Yet even so, when the war is brough to fruition, the oil is no longer nationalized, and the US companies are doing the development and are getting it in trade exchange, it will still be a deal. Production will rise to an estimated 5 mbd or more and the US will be out of the woods for at least a while longer. Perhaps even until alternatives can be developed. And the price may decrease to somewhere around $70 according to some experts but in reality it will be more like $90 according to experts who aren't in denial. When you say there is far more at stake than the oil you don't specify what. That is because you are alluding to national security and you know that's now a dead horse being flogged and it embarrasses you to repeat it. Is that one of your pathetic attempts to say something clever? See ANWR yourself and learn how long it will last if it was developed. It's a smokescreen to make American righties feel secure and nothing more. Furthermore, the high cost oil development currently going on makes it very obvious that the easy to get stuff they claim to have is not there anymore.
  13. My name relates to this forum a very simple concept which the entire world understands only too well and many educated people in the US have come to understand. There are dozens of books written on the subject and lots by American authors. You would do well to stop your nonsense of pretending it isn't so and read some literature on why it is so. Chalmers Johnson's, Nemesis is probably easy enough for you to understand for a beginning. A Canadian who doesn't understand is really becoming quite an anomaly! Americans have an excuse of having to support their war by being patriotic and pretending it's for an honourable cause. As simply stated as possible for Americans: When you stop killing them over there then they will stop wanting to kill you over here.
  14. Here's a really easy to use foreign exchange chart and it includes oil (Brent crude) along with the three precious metals. You can look at the Euro/USD or any other comparisons going back 4 years. Note that the USD has steadily declined against the Euro until it sits at a little better than 65 cents when it closed yesterday. The rapid rise of the CAD against the USD is also interesting to look at to see how recent attempts to prop up the USD has caused the recent (2 months) flucuatons where we were up to about $1.10 http://fx.sauder.ubc.ca/data.html
  15. Why not try to be a little realistic about the issue for a change. The oil has only a little more than doubled on the Euro and it has gone from around $25-$30 to $106 against the USD. This is not just a weak dollar policy of course because the USD is constantly being propped up by the US Fed. Get serious. Dollar hegemony is being eroded and if oil being now sold more and more throughout the world in other currencies is not the beginning of the end of the hegemony which you think is not disappearing then what is? Several good explanations have already been put forward by people who are not afraid to be objective and honest and among them is the huge trade deficit the US is managing to build up for itself. If you take away the US sales of WMD to other countries there's not much left that the US exports in trade for what it requires. And so it makes loans which will never be repaid and other countries are coming to accept that reality. And of course oil which the US needs to the tune of over 20 million barrels a day and which is has a rapidly diminishing supply of it's own. Canada's tarsands development is bailing out the US at this time and it's forecast to double yet again if nothing intrerferes with it. It has already close to quadrupled in the last 8 years due to US needs and the problems arising in the ME. If it was reduced or curtailed in any way because of environmental concerns then the US is toast. This is why the US is only dependent on ME oil to a smaller degree now than it was before Canada became the largest supplier to the US market. And the US government knows very well it's walking a tightrope and so is intent on winning it's war in Iraq and then consolidating control over as much ME oil as it can. This is why your Iraq war will not end before it is brought to fruition. Oil will remain high because there is a constant and rising demand regardless of the stupid electioneering rhetoric of the hopefuls who say that US dependency on foreign oil will be reduced. Why would they say such things if they weren't already fully aware that the US demand for oil is at the root of all the problems. And we're supposed to believe the political right goofs who keep claiming that the US has lots of oil but the left won't permit development? What a sick joke. And the Iraq war was becasue of Saddam's WMD's and here's nice bridge for sale.
  16. Then act like a Canadian and not like a warmongering American. Listen to yourself too because you are disgusting and if you don't like the topic and how it morphs to other issues then don't join it.
  17. Nonsense! State it any way you like to obfuscate the truth but the US still uses over 20 million barrels a day and it's still climbing on a year to year basis. The world contemplates dumping the USD and it sits at just over 65 cents against the Euro. And some countries are starting to favour other currencies for oil sales. Good luck pal, you can't get a new president fast enough even if you want to paint a rosy picture while everyone else knows you're into a recession. Well, except John McCain of course and he's not sure today. He knew you weren't 3 weeks ago. 18. Get mad all you like but understand that your anger is the first step in the healing process. And above all have patience because it won't happen overnight. I try not to think of the US as our neighbour anymore and prefer to think of it as the land of the gun or the evil empire to our south. In less than 8 short years how things have changed! And Canada is still one of your best friends in the world.
  19. Refresh my memory greenthumb, are you the kid who wants to take children away from their parents if the parents get in financial difficulty? Among a few other unsavory ideas?
  20. I haven't followed McCain closely so I didn't know that his wife was a drug addict and even stole her drugs. Isn't that nice! And then there's the lady that John has probably been doing on the side which is being kept in wraps for a more opportune time to spring it all. And how many other stories are there sitting in the Dems weapons stash which they are saving for when the going gets tough. No wonder McCain says he doesn't want to get down and dirty! This is so exciting when they start to throw the dirt at each other in earnest. I'll make this thread for McCain so everyone can post the good stuff as it comes to light.
  21. You don't have any oil resouces to develop to the extent that it would save your country from having to buy from Canada or also the ME as a big portion of what you import. At over $100/bbl your economy is going up in smoke because you are so oil dependent and you have less than half of what you need. It's time to start understanding that and the only reason why you don't understand it is because it blows the lid off the real reason for the US presence on the Arabian peninsula and the war with Iraq. Your economy is dependent on winning the Iraq war and getting the oil flowing because alternative sources of energy won't come even close to making up for foreign oil. To put it in a simple way for you to undersand: You need to balance your trade deficit by selling your stuff and your big macs to Iraqis and the world in trade for their oil and what you need. You can't afford the bill otherwise. Or another way of saying that you want what the world has but the world doesn't want enough of what you have. Check your country's trade deficit out some day. Your politicians lie to you muricans about all that and you continue to buy their bill of goods. Get with the program Pal.
  22. Extremely bad behaviour and profanity to boot! So now you are admocating that children be taken away from their parents if they require help to support and raise their children. And selling or purchasing cocaine to anyone as long as both parties are agreable to the sale! Children included of course? You must be very young because I would hate to think of what you could be if you're not! Others: Is this kind of behaviour allowable on this forum? Not that I would want to censor this one but just interested in knowing how far the mods let it go. Partly paranoia on my part because I have seen biased mods come down on the one who is bahaving badly and also the one who bears the brunt of it in some cases. Maybe it's better to just ignore the more rabid ones?
  23. I'm trying to help Americans to begin to understand how bad it's gotten in the US and that will hopefully contribute in some small way to help to turn Americans against it's coming wars. Even delaying the next war by as little as a few minutes could help to save lives of the US's victims. Be they Venezuelans or Iranians, they are all important to me. Are you onside with me or are you one of the ones who support the coming wars? Come join us there on the US Politics forum and say your piece.
  24. So Dancer, you support forcing people not having children? 'puppies'? You should learn what Godwin's law says about comparisons to Nazism which are legitimate. So now that we know you support the idea why not tell us how you are going to accomplish the goal. Sterilization suit your purposes?
  25. You should make it clear who you are talking to sharkman.
