Nearly 3 million Americans in Jail
UShaditComing replied to trex's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You might not want commie care but your people buy their drugs from Canada anyway. Your phoney pres says they're not safe drugs but the people are too smart to buy that little trick. They just keep on a coming and I'm happy for them that they can. Some of those who are too proud to use commie drugs probably die for lack of the medicines they need. Ho hum, talking to Americans! I'm finished with you for a while now. It's boring talking to a person who, when I prove them wrong as I did above, they don't have the courtesy to admit they were had. -

Sure it does but there is an income level taken into consideration first and then there is a level of drug expense at which there is a rebate on costs. Besides that we get pharmas cheaper than the US because our gov demands it be that way. That's why Americans sneak across the border and buy their drugs here in order to survive. Or they buy them email. I feel so sorry for those elderly Americans. I know you probably don't because Americans feel that nobody should get any help from their government. They call it a free ride or something lame like that. -
Finally a quality forum for Canadians! Here's hoping that the moderators aren't politically motivated one way or the other so that they start to censor views they don't like. Are any of the people on this forum people who used to post on Sympatico or the CBC forum. Those two were closed down because they got too hot to handle and probably it had a lot to do with pressure to not hurt the feelings of Americans. Anybody here take part in those two? Greg- Are you the same Greg who used to be a moderator on one of the US forums? From Alberta I believe.

Some go to Cuba too. The interesting thing about it is will it 'change' when either hillary of Barack get elected. Or will the big lobbyists buy out another president? The people of the US have had enough and they're going to come out in big numbers in November to say so. If they get double crossed again then it's going to be blood in the streets and much worse than the river of blood running out of their schools currently. -
Nearly 3 million Americans in Jail

When you get your new healthcare system which Hillary or Obama is going to give you, and you bail out the over 50,000,000 people who go without in your country, we may begin to listen to your good examples. In the meantime we will look to Cuba for an example of healthcare for all the people which actually works well. Do you have any idea at all how much it costs you people to maintain a system which is rated at around #37 in the world? If it's the most expensive system per capita in the entire world and it's not even close to the French system which is #1, would you even care? Are you a capitalist? Are you in favour of government waste which is required to support big business pharma companies and overpaid doctors? hmmmmm? Even socialists are too savvy to have anything to do with that kind of a sellout by government! If you are a US citizen I may be able to get you a line on affordable pharmaceuticals for your parents. That's if you actually care. -
The Bush Administration and Kosovo
UShaditComing replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The Kosovo war was a move by the US to encroach on territories which were once a part of the former Soviet Union and it was a move against Russia. Canada was taken in by the US because they made it a Nato war and that probably had something to do with Canada being wised up enough to not be taken in again with the current Iraq war. Had it not been for the phoney Kosovo war then I firmly believe we would have committed to their Iraq war. Phoney for a few reason but above all the hundreds of thousands of dead shiptars in mass graves, killed by Serbs, turned out to be less than 500 and a lot of them were Serbs. All the Republicans hated that war and all the Clinton supporting Dems loved it. Americans usually only support their own party's wars. -

The USD got to within a whisker of dropping below 65 cents against the Euro today and the Bush/Cheney faithful keep blowing smoke. Oh my! -

You would improve your understanding of Canada's healthcare system if you began to realize that it's a better system than the US system and it's administered at a level which keeps it consistently on a higher level. In other words, we don't waste money by resorting to an MRI when an x-ray does the job. When an MRI is needed immediately it's cost effective to send a person to the US to get it done as opposed to buying a bunch of expensive equipment when it won't be needed. Canadians don't want it any other way and anybody who tries to change it will be in big trouble with the people of Canada. Should we increase our healthcare spending a little? Probably not but if you think so then go argue with Harper and his gang of thieves. If Harper's gang cuts spenging too much they will hear from the electorate big time. And of course we could increase spending to about double in order to equal the cost per person to the American people for their 'for profit' joke of a non-healthcare system. -
What Went Wrong For Barack Obama
UShaditComing replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Not even a sensible rebuttal but about all that you have apparently. You are right about payback being a bitch though, in a sense only, because the rewards for the US will be worth the cost once they win their war in Iraq. Does anyone 'really' think they are doing all this to rescue the Iraqi people from an evil dictator? Your first lesson will consist of accepting the fact that the US needs over 20 million barrels of oil a day and they import over half of that. You will be expected to provide a figure for how much that costs the US per day. Calculators will be allowed. -

I'm saying that Bin Laden had several reasons to strike back against the US and he stated those reasons clearly. It is entirely credible and what is not credible is the US claim that Muslims want to conquer the world. Or whatever the current lie happens to be. They're jealous of our t.v. sets? We've heard all sorts of reasons haven't we. -
What Went Wrong For Barack Obama
UShaditComing replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No, of course it wasn't a conspiracy planned by the US. But don't for one minute fail to realize that the US used it very well to their advantage. The US needed to do Iraq and in the beginning following 9/11 they had no interest in going into Afghanistan. This is well documented. The US is no longer welcome in Saudi and it needs a country where it can establish a long term presence in order to consolidate it's interests over Iraq's oil and the ME region in general. If Karzai was able to bring the Taliban into the fold with his government, who would be left for us to pretend to be helping out there? Begin to come to the uncomfortable understanding that the Burqua is worn by women by choice and we just don't have any business interfering in their poitics. If we were really concerned about the people we would first be asking the US why they support the corrupt Saudi monarchy which chops heads off in chop-chop square in that country. -
What Went Wrong For Barack Obama
UShaditComing replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I didn't say 'deserved', that was somebody else's way of putting it. It's a difficult question to answer on whether or not the people who died on 9/11 'deserved' to die. So I'll ask another question and maybe that will serve to answer that question. Did the civilians who died in the Dresden firebombing 'deserve' to die. Answering that question will answer the first. As for the US having it coming, of course they did because of their foreign policy in the ME. Do you know what Osama Bin Laden said? Probably not so I'll tell you that he mentioned US presence on the Arabian peninsula, the first war against Iraq which killed millions of Iraqis, and the US support of the apartheid regime of the Zionists in Palestine. (Israel) As for Iraq, you are probably uninformed about that country too so I'll begin by telling you that Iraq accepted all religions prior to the current US war and it also had women working alongside men as equals. Now it is nearly just another Iran and will soon be Iran's close ally against the US. Pay attention and you will even hear recent news of Talibani and Ahmadinejad having a little kisses and hugs love-in while the US is spurned as the occupier who is not welcome. Some nutbar! -

UShaditComing replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I am definitely suggesting that the US had it coming because those attacks were revenge attacks. Most people had a hard time coming to accept that but have long since realized that it was all about revenge. Osama Bin Laden spelled it out perfectly in his message following 9/11. Why would he want to lie about it? -

Rehabilitation is not in the US vocabulary because they can only think of punishing criminals and so they suffer the consequences by paying to keep a lot of people locked up. Listen closely to Harper and you will hear him spouting the same message, right down to bringing back capital punishment. That rabid rightie we have for a PM is about 10 years behind the times because he is incapable of seeing that his principles which follow the US so closely are being rejected even by them because they are not working. And he wants to take Canada down the same path????? It would never occur to such a rabid rightie like Harper to look to very progressive European countries which have it figured out and are leaving the US behind in their dust when it comes to standards of living for all their citizens. -
What Went Wrong For Barack Obama
UShaditComing replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well they don't really 'need' Canada militarily but they do need Canada for appearance sake and Harper is willing because it would be economically destructive to Harper's support if he didn't bow to US wishes. In fact the US is desperately trying to get more nations onside with the their plans at the moment in order to lend some justification to their wars. Harper is their perfect patsy because he would rather pretend that it's Canada's involvement in Afghanistan in support of the people and that gives him an excuse to not take the moral highroad along with most European countries and of course most other countries. Which is all fine if some Canadian gungho kids want to go and play war games in another country and get themselves whacked but it's not fine if we begin to feel the repercussions at home because of our interference, in the same manner the US got it's comeuppance on 9/11. We'll see in time and let's hope we don't learn the same lesson Spain learned for their support of the US plans for world hegemony. Let's hope that Karzai gets his wish of bringing the Taliban on board with his government and then there will be no excuse left to be there fighting. It might just happen even though the US knows it's game over if he does because they wouldn't be able to make up a good enough excuse to fool Canadians anymore. Stick with me here, we're going to be learning a lot! -

Well thank you for the insult but what do you want to know specifically? If you want a dictionary definition of 'capitalism' then say so and I will get one for you and then explain what it means. -

I'm not here to educate others but we will dance again and again on this forum and you will learn over time what you could learn by reading Hutton's book. The title says a lot to begin with because it says right out from the betginning that the US needs to be interdependent with the rest of the world. You may also want to start to consider the differences in the way corporations are handled in Europe as compared to America where increasing profits completely trump quality and everything else. Top executives in America are paid outrageously high salaries and stock options as compared to Europe where the end product is still important. But thank you for wanting to know more. I could also just direct you to dictionary.com for an answer to your question but I know you don't want to know the answer nearly as much as you want a fight. We'll dance again soon! -

Who doesn't know what capitalism is? Me or Hutton? Where to begin? A read of Hutton's book with be a good starting point. But first of all you appear to think that Canadian capitalism is not socially responsible and so you wouldn't yet recognise that European capitalism is also socially responsible. Woud you be hinting that everything to the left of US extreme right rabid capitalism is just socialism? That would be consistent with the US mindset and the Harper mindset. You know, the people who don't believe in global warming and don't believe in environmental concerns but have to lie and pretend that they do because 3/4's of the country does now. -
What Went Wrong For Barack Obama
UShaditComing replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
This is Obama aligning himself with Harper and letting Harper know that he is a safe choice for Harper's gameplan. The gameplan which Harper and his rabid right team of liars have up their sleeve and can't reveal to Canadians. No matter that Obama represents the center in the US he still represents what is equivalent to the right in Canada and he also represents US interests. US interests which are completely consistent with Harper's interests. -

Not just his conscience and that doesn't play a big role with extreme righties anyway. His whole way of life and everything he believed in was and is coming back to bite him. Europe and the European way is succeeding and America is failing and needs to be rescued soon by politics of a totally different mindset. Will Hutton's, 'A dEclaration of Interdependence' is a good book for everyone who wants to start to understand what's wrong with that country. -
Hillary to win because the chance of a Hillary/Barack ticket is more likely than the other way around. But nobody should be hoping for an end to the Iraq war because that is not promised and is not in the cards. It is absolutely essential for the US to bring it's Iraq war to fruition. Not to mention that their Afghanistan war needs to be won too in order to consolidate US control over the entire ME. With Canada's help as we are being duped into believing that we're there to help the people, blah, blah. We are there in Afghanistan to appease the US and prevent more trade sanctions against Canada of course and because we won't take part in Iraq because Canadians won't be duped on that one this time. It's too soon after the duping on the Kosovo war. Of course Harper would have us in Iraq in a minute if he could find a way and if he gets a majority in the upcoming election, he may even find a way to manipulate us into Iraq. Never doubt the deviousness of the extreme right. Say you heard it here first!

What Went Wrong For Barack Obama
UShaditComing replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I don't think anything has gone wrong with either Barack or Hillary. The extreme right media would like everyone to believe that something has gone wrong of course as they compare McCain's ratings with both of them. They fail to mention that if the popularity of both of them is combined as will happen when the decisoin is made soon for a Dem candidate, his/her popularity will swamp McCain about 4 to 1. The chickens are going to come home soon and the Repubs are going to get the licking they deserve for trying to steal the country and nearly wrecking it. Sadly this will not end the US wars because US consolidating control over Iraq's oil resources and establishing a permanent presence in the ME is absolutely essential for continuing US economic survival. -
William F. Buckley Jr. - RIP
UShaditComing replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Apparently Buckley didn't want to live anymore and some say it's because he was incapable of doing what he always did physically. He died at his desk writing and that's what he always wanted to do so I'm wondering if the reason he didn't want to continue could have been that everything he believed in was coming back to bite him. He had distanced himself from the Bush regime and he condemned Bush's war, or at least Bush's methods. A smart man such as Buckley surely must have started to realize that his ideals were beginning to destroy his country financially as the USD falls drastically compared to the Euro, some countries are changing to selling oil in Euros over the USD, oil price is skyrocketing due to demand and the simple fact that the US is now a have-not country, and conservatism is simply failing. He certainly did show signs in his maturity that his politics were changing and I think it was all to much for him to start to understand what we Canadians all understand at least to some degree. Socially respoinsible capitalism works fine but the US style of extremist greedy capitalism eventually will cause the people who are left out to rise up as they now appear to be doing with the Obama movement and the change the people will demand in November. That, I believe, is what killed Buckley.
