And then there's Shady who can only grunt out insults. It wasn't necessary to read his signature to see that he's a Raygun lover. grunt, grunt Shady. -

Now there is one intelligent approach to the problem and the question! Of course jail is not the answer in most cases and it only turns out a hardened criminal in a lot of cases. It could be 40% if you believe the stats put forward by the two that I have been arguing with. Fines are a great way to deal with a lot of crime and once a person learns his lesson with a fine then he probably won't reoffend in a lot of cases. It sure worked for me when I got caught not wearing a seatbelt! Maybe it's because some people need to hate so much that they can't bear the thought of somebody not getting a good licking for a minor crime. They're the ones who spank their children I bet. -
Thanks Leafless, it's nice to learn who the 'good' people are early. I'm sure that if my name was Iraqhaditcoming then some Americans would not be whining. This is a political forum and I think it makes it clear right from the start when they see my name just what I believe. And thank you Greg for the welcome. Actually now that I think of it I think it was a Craig who moderated another forum and was a little biased. Back in 2001 and 2002 a person would get banned from a forum for saying that the US had it coming and in fact I was banned from one of the US forums for suggesting it was US foreign policy which caused the hits on 9/11, as horrible as they were. Now there are a hundred books out there which are written on exactly that premise. Chalmers johnson's, 'Nemesis' is one I've just read and he's an American himself. Just being new here I'm in the process of figuring out what the rules reallly are. Some of the people here such as in this thread even have made personal attacks against me already for my POV and it apparently goes unnoticed. That's the way I like it because I don't think it should be over-moderated. In one forum I took part in the same thing happened and I started to respond in kind because I got the impression that was the norm. Not so, because soon a moderator presented himself and banned me for my behaviour. He said that he had been correcting the ones who were hitting on me with rudeness all along. BS of course but you can't be too careful and it takes some time to learn the ropes. Biased mods usually make it pretty clear early on that you're getting on their nerves if that's the case. I don't tolerate that and I don't do temporary suspensions either.

You're not even smart enough to understand that I don't dispute any of your statistics. I may or my not but I haven't even bothered to look at them yet because I took your word on them being correct. Have a nice day if that's possible for your ilk. -

Please try to educate yourselves a little on what Ahmadinejad quoted as being said. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad_and_Israel This sort of cheap demonization propaganda is as bad as the Iraqis throwing babies out of their incubators onto the cold floor lie. -

Ahmadinejad did not say that Israel should be wiped from the map. Read my lips or find the exact quotation and stop telling lies. Yes, I remember 1989 and I remember the Gulf war which was the first US war against Iraq. I say US war because that's what it really was. Did you forget? That should answer your question on what is soon after. What could this posibly have to do with the holocaust? The only connection I could imagine is that the Zionist cause depends heavily on sympathy for holocaust victims and that's why we still hear them bemoaning the facts after over 60 years. Without that who would be able to support a vicious apartheid regime against another people who have every ritght to live on their own lands? And try not to confuse Zionists with Jews or Israelis. There is a distinction you know. Or have I got you all wrong and it's really you who doesn't believe in the holocaust? -

Ahhhhh yes, that's what I was hoping to hear! I bit of extreme leftist idelology, a bit of extreme right ideology, a hint of an appreciation for Nazi reform policies, and a lot of immaturity. You're going to make a good conservative when you learn to conceal your true feelings. The squeezing out 'puppies' think really put it over the top for me. But let me briefly comment on you fixation to french fries. I would say that you should by all means enjoy your fries if it was a sure thing that you would die of the heart attack. Sadly, it is not guaranteed and it's likely they will save you and then you will become a burden on the system. We must look after all of our citizens no matter how irresponsible they have been because we don't let people die in the streets or go without adequate healthcare as they do in the land of the gun to our south. If you choose to respond to that will you please tell me how you intend to "forced to learn'' and how you are going to stop people from having babies. (puppies?) Forced sterilization prehaps? Sorry I can't continue right now because all of a sudden you have put a very bad taste in my mouth. -

And that convinced me that you don't understand either. It's not a question of 'either or'. It's a question of both applied in a sensible manner which is devoid of the silly emotional garbage which Harper's gang depend on so much. I suspect that for you too it's as simple as hearing of a sex offender reoffending after being released on parole and that seals the whole issue for you. Just what Harper needs for his program of taking the quick and easy way out and letting our children and grandchildren pay for it all later. While responsible Canadians look to the US to see what has been proven to not work. You're both a waste of my time. Neither of you are adding anything of substance because you are both more interested in arguing an agenda which you can't support yourselves. -

I'm looking forward to a balance of power which can stop US aggression. That has been lacking in the world since the fall of the Soviet Union and it's pretty obvious that the Us started with Iraq soon after. Nuclear weapons are only deterrants and it's quite obvious that another country would not attack the US with nuclear weapons because they would be quickly annihilated. At the same time the US fully understands that if they attack a nuclear armed country there is a good possibility that that country will succeed in hitting at least one big US city with a nuke. There are a million ways of accomplishing it and the last choice would be a ballistic missile IMO. The US is simply not willing to suffer that sort of revenge attack and so it must stop other nations from gaining the ability to defend themselves successfully against US aggression. And don't try to tell me that Ahmadinejad has promised to wipe Israel off the map because it's not true. Iran's interest only lies in fairness in Israel/Palestine and an end to the apartheid regime against the Palestinian people. All this isn't brain surgery you know! -

Thank you and my work is done with you because I have you thinking now. All that's left to do is to determine how well Canada's approach is working and to find ways of making it work better. My approqch is both ideological and sensible but never knee-jerk. Knee-jerk is what I accused you of before you came to your senses. -

I know why people kill each other in Iraq and it's got a lot to do with religious differences. I know they would rather kill Americans but the Americans are harder to get at because they don't come out of their holes (green zone) very often now. I know how and why Saddam had the killing under control and needed a heavy hand with the Kurds and their ambitions to create a greater Kurdistan. The Turks know now too and so does the US because the US helps to bomb them. Yes, there is hope in Iraq for the US occupation and I've always maintained that the resolve of the Iraqi people to rid their country of the occupiers could only last so long. They want their freedom but they have suffered greatly under US bombs and aggression. Make no mistake, the war will be won by the US and the US is not going away until it is. No president will end it because it is absolutley essential that the US establishes a presence in Iraq and contol over ME oil resources. If you intended to argue any of that then you have the wrong person. However, be mindful of the fact that the Shiite majority of Iran is now kissing and hugging with Iraq's leaders and Iraq's leaders have a great deal of sympathy for Iran over the US. I look forward to economic and political cooperation between the two countries and a confounding of the US objective by means other than freedom fighters taking out US military types. Sooner or later the ME is going to get it's freedom from US and Western aggression because it's inevitable. The US object is to keep all countries which have ambitions of becoming powerful from doing so. This is what it's all about and that is because of the oil. Nothing more. The US is not interested in next fall's cabbage crop in Iraq. Don't tell anyone that Iran is trying to get it's own nuclear deterrant. If or when they do then the game is over for the US because the US doesn't attack nuclear armed countries. It's essential for continuing US hegemony that that is stopped. There's nothing confusing about all this you know! -

Of ocurse it's the freedom of the lawabiding citizen we need to be concerned with. Now you are getting to the issue! Now you need to start thinking for yourself as opposed to listening to the easy solution crap which is spewed by Harper and his gang of louts. How do we accomplish our common goal? Do we attempt to rehabilitate and trust the judgement of the professionals who make the decision on whether or not a person is safe to release to the streets or do we just buy all the emotional crap about criminals reoffending. Sure the professional make some mistakes and they always will but the objective is to help them get better at what they are doing. There is only one correct approach and that is to attempt to rehabilitate and judge when a criminal is safe to be released. This is just common sense which you appear to be now agreeing with or you wouldn't be pursuing the question. The Us simply has it wrong and Harper's louts have it wrong too because they only want to take the easy way out and that has been proven to not work south of the border. Get it yet? -

Well first of all they weren't 737's and it wasn't 'to' it was 'two'. Now let's continue. I didn't say that the people who were in the building didn't deserve it. You only read it that way. I asked another question which paralled that question and nobody has had the balls to answer that one yet. It seems quite logical to me that the answer for the WTC would be the same answer for Dresden. The only difference I can see is that one is your side and the other isn't. What you would like and what I want are two different things my friend. How about if I just compare the US military in Iraq kicking down doors and murdering the civilian occupants or dragging them away in the middle of the night on trumped up charges or no charges at all other than suspicions. Ring any bells for you? You may also want to draw a parallel to occupied France where freedom fighters killed Nazis who occupied their country. In Iraq it's terrorists (freedom fighters) killing American occupiers who are hated by the people who live in the country. -

And in a nutshell that's the attitude which explains why the US has so many people in jail and the taxpayer is footing the bill. Good for you but just keep you silly ideas on your side of the border thank you. You've got to be a conservative American and probably even a libertarian because you are for less freedom and higher taxes and you think you are the opposite. Duhhhhh! Talking to Americans! -

You are saying nothing new here because I have already commented on Canada's part in the first Iraq war. As long as you don't try to say that the no-fly zones were UN sanctioned then we have nothing to argue about. I do however maintain that it was all a con-job to get Saddam to move on Kuwait. Lots of proof for that. Not only does America thrive on wars but it now needs it's Iraq war because it needs to establish control over the oil rich ME. Lots to talk about there too but in a nutshell, no new president is going to end that war before it's brought to fruition. Yeah, thanks for the help in WW2 but don't try to pretend the motive was all above board. Are you one of the many Americans who didn't think that the US should have gotten itself into that one because it wasn't any of their business? Actually IMO the Soviets would have won it anyway given a few more months and the world would be an entirely different place today. Not in the way in which you would like to imagine it though. -

Sexual offenders may be the most likely to reoffend but I wouldn't claim that because it's emotionally pleasing for you to do so. I would not make rash claims without first doing some research. If you insist on going off on a different track on this and talking about how to improve the penal system in Canada then just show some interest and I will dance with you on it. I don't think you really are because I think you are just another hating conservative who likes to complain and who wants an easy cheap solution. Really dumb thing to do because it just costs you more in the long run as it does in the US where they don't have the slightest idea about rehab and couldn't care less. I'm expecting Canadians to be just a 'little' bit smarter than that! -

My name explicitly refers to the REVENGE attacks on 9/11. And once again this doesn't say that the people who died in those attacks deserved to die. Again I put up the parallel with the Dresden firebombing and ask others to tell us if those people deserved to die. It can obviously be argued both ways because a people could conceivably be held responsible for the acts of their leaders. And although the question of whether I equate the US with Nazi Germany, as was asked by one poster here, has nothing to do with this question, I do in fact believe that the US is the closest thing to the Nazi regime since WW2. I can back that claim up with many examples if someone wants to get into it in detail. Perhaps a new thread with the proper title? -
What Went Wrong For Barack Obama
UShaditComing replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Of course it doesn't escape me! The drummed up emotion of the time and all the lies fabricated against Iraq brought the dems onside with the Iraq war. They were convinced by Bush and his liars that Iraq had a part in 9/11. Some Americans still believe that and they still believe that Iraq is still hiding the missing WMD's. And no, it wasn't that the Bush regime believed that the WMD's were there, they were complicit in making up lies to support their war. Just the same as the first war against Iraq which was based on US lies and fabrications. And Afghanistan, that's just as dumb to be supporting. Bin Laden was in Rawalpindi when the towers fell and the people of Afghanistan had nothing to do with it. The Bush regime didn't even want to bother with that country. All Americans need to be reeducated on what their wars are all about becasue they just don't take the time to find out for themselves. They always fall for people such as Powell goiing to the UN and making up lies to justify a war. Let's dance some more. You're a great sounding board to serve my purpose of telling Canadians where it's all at. I would love to get into the first Iraq war for them and explain how it was all a US plan to find justification for a permanent occupation of Iraq. -

Taken in by the US led Nato war in Kosovo for phoney reasons. Nearly all the US rebubs hated that war because it was Clinton's idea and now thery are really sounding off because it was to support mainly Muslims. Now everyone is beginning to realize that it was and is the Serbs who are suffering. I think it was in the minds of politicians when the US asked for Canadian support with their current Iraq war and that's a big part of the reason why we didn't get into it. John Chretien will always be remembered for his stand on keeping us out of that mess. That makes him great in my opinion. And not to mention that he needed to fall on his sword to keep Quebec in Canada. -

The big issue is that Harper goon is now in trouble for letting it out. Who cares what it does against Obama. The important message is that Harper's gang is in bed with the pro-war Republicans and against the Dems. Most of us knew that and now it's publicly confirmed. It's the only reason why we are letting our troops get whacked in Afghanistan. -
You got that right Carinthia! And John McCain has just gone and stood with the moron president and accepted the endorsement. Now we will wait and see what the American people are made of. Unfortunately they are so easily duped that any little terrorist attack against them will have them right back in the pro-war camp for another 8 years.

Nearly 3 million Americans in Jail
UShaditComing replied to trex's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Of course rehabilitation works and we need to put more emphasis on making it work better. Why would you ask such a question? It's the main reason why we put people in jail to start with and along with the punitive punishment for the crime we hope that we can let them out and they won't repeat offend. If there is no emphasis on that then we would end up with a situation similar to the US where they don't have enough jails to house all their prisoners. And that leads to more expense to the taxpayer which capitalists should be able to understand, if nothing else. I know it would be satisfying for some people to hear that locked up criminals are getting a lashing every day in jail but they should realize that those criminals are going to get out of jail some day and are going to come out lashing back at we lawabiding citizens. Hate is the wrong emotion when dealing with this problem and just look where it got the US! -

Are you one of the libertarians who support no taxation at all? Or do you support a flat tax? I like to hear about libertarian views because some have some very novel ideas.
