Top Liberal denies Coalition exists!
Alta4ever replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So why did the Bloc need to sign the accord? They weren't apart of the coalition why was Gile standing and signing with Layton and Dion? -
Conservatives to table $40 billion deficit: CTV
Alta4ever replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The EI surplus was raided in the 90s by the liberals. It was long gone before the Tories took office, but I guess you have problems comprehending what was said in the news about it a couple of weeks back. It was the liberals who treated it like a tax while reducing benefits. -
Why we Need to Reinstate Funding to the Arts
Alta4ever replied to Progressive Tory's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They don't they can cut the corporate welfare with it. This is what the spenidng priorities of a federal government should be, in order. National infrastructure. IE trans Canada hwy, and keeping ports and trade routs open Justice (policing, courts ect) Military Everything else is Provincial jurisdiction, cut federal taxes and let the provinces increase their taxes to cover their short falls. -
Harper's New Budget - Is it the Coalition Killer?!
Alta4ever replied to tamtam10's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You are by no means a red tory. Every post here shows a left of centre approach as does your support of a now dead coalition that was very far left wing in its stance. -
Harper's New Budget - Is it the Coalition Killer?!

I never saw a signed governing agreement did you? -
Hey don't forget communication. RIMM is a world leader.

Really? I think not, look at the Human Rights Commisions across this Country they are thought police with a Kangaroo court they have overstepped their orginal role, and now prosecute for hurt feelings.

really one mistake is too many look friends we have perfection among us here. The lefty punked kid thinks he is perfect. The world is an ugly place, and sometimes it is better to pay with drops of blood today rather than buckets tomorrow. History is full of proof of this concept. It was never a mistake to fulfill our Nato obligations, especially since this war was brought on by the taliban, they struck first. BTW punked I don't see you in Afganistan serving your country, I haven't seen you out having to make any hard decisions. You seem to be nothing but a malcontent who sits quite secure in a place where you take advantage of the safety and security to bitch and moan and condem those who provide it for you. If you don't like the way they do it, go to you local recruitment centre sign an enlistment form pick up a rifle and stand the line. IF NOT SAY THANK YOU TO OUR SOLDERS AND VETERANS and be on your way.

And what would that accomplish? It would be a total and complete waste of taxpayers funds. the auto industry is just a waste of funds.

How big should government be, how low the taxes?
Alta4ever replied to Barts's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It was a very well written and researched report a found an optimal level for government size and spoending and it was a number higher then I thought considering the source. IU suggest you read it before you reject it outr of hand. Its only small minded people that will not read info put infront of them before passing judgement. Even tough i don't agree with much of the view points in the toroonto star I still read it. -
How big should government be, how low the taxes?
Alta4ever replied to Barts's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Fraiser Instatute did a study on this a found what the optimal size of the Canadian Government and the size of the civil service should be it also compaired it to a few other countries and studies on whatr the optimal size of their govenrment. It was quite an interesting report. It showed that we should have an above average sized government but much smaller then the one we have now. I suggesty many here go look it up. -
If Canada Supports Israel, Why Don't We Do Something?
Alta4ever replied to tamtam10's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So you would like the global community to tell you and all the other Ontarians what is best for the world and ignore what Ontarians and the Ontario government don't know whats best for Ontario. The regional people know and understand what is best for them, as for the World community they are just posturing, they understand and know cvery little, their are a lot of false asumptions by the general public and the world citizens, because they are not experts on these regions or their conflicts. -
We aren't in trouble we just cut the bottom out of spending, we elminated our debt when oil was less than $30/barrell. The rest of Canada could learn something from us.

Who is Michael Ignatieff Anyway?
Alta4ever replied to tamtam10's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You think so? You think that Ignatieff has a better chance, both Harper and Ignatieff are on equal footing, we are small fish in the world wo ever the PM is he will play nice with Obama. You have no idea what personal feelings the leaders have on Obama, and aside form Harper being the current PM of Canada I doubt Obama knows much else about him. As for Ignatieff, if Obama even knows his name (outside of a brief handed ot him from an aid) it would be amazing. You have no idea just grasping at straws. -
The Arrow was an amazing project but one that the Canadian public could not afford to fund. AVRO was also a badly managed company, with a better CEO at the helm it probably would have turned out with a lot better result. The first jetliner but guess what no sales. The Avro car what a huge was of capital. They spent all their time building but never thought about how to market the product much like our current big three. Lots of manufacturing capability but someone has to buy what you build and if its too expensive no one is going to buy it. Not to metion at that time people were also in an over confident mind frame about what comparitively cheap interceptor missles could do. All that being said this was not a cut to the military as they never had the hardware. The Trudeau, Mulrooney, and Chretien legacy is one of reducing the capability of the Canadian military. One drastically reduced the size of the military, the next sold our hevy lift capability, and the last did the most damage. He defunded, refused upgrades cancelled contracts, removed our Airborne core. Then to top it all off sent our troops in to battle with improper equipment. The liberals have done more to the detriment of the military then the CPC has ever done.
-
I wonder why we have lost the industrial and technical expertise was lost maybe its because the liberals mothballed the tanks defunded training programs that taught the knowlege to the military, and reduced the complex behind this segment of the industrial complex to nothing but you of course would realise this nor would the liberal hacks at the star or the CBC. The leopard is one of the worlds best tanks. On the other part of you post meaningless talking red tape hacks that you would like to hire, do absolutly nothing, there does come a point when talking does nothing. Besides, this is a NATO led mission that means that a negociated peace connot be reached without or allies signing it. We are living up to our obligations. I am glad that we have these 50 tonne monsters, I am glad that we will finally be getting heavy lift choppers. I am glad the CPC is fixing the mistakes and misteps that both the red tories of the 80's made and the horrible 13 years of rule under a corrupt liberal government that utterly destroyed our military and its proud heritage. It is shameful that they send our troops into theater under equiped and expect them to fight.

Who is Michael Ignatieff Anyway?
Alta4ever replied to tamtam10's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Lets talk double standard, the conservatives would be hammered by the media and the liberals if they had done this. But then again the liberals never have had to walk their talk. -
Who is Michael Ignatieff Anyway?
Alta4ever replied to tamtam10's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I just think that its ironic that the Liberals who bitch about anything American, have chosen someone who has spend the majority of their career outside of Canada and a lot of it in the US to be the leader of the party. I can just imagine what would be said if the was the case for the conservatives. -
Who is Michael Ignatieff Anyway?
Alta4ever replied to tamtam10's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Really where has he spent the majority of his life, Harvard, last i checked that was in the US. He has written papers that have started We Americans.......so tell me again what I do and do not know. -
Your artical didn't break down Federal, provincial and municiple taxes. Can't spend more than you earn tell that to the NDP and liberals and their spending demands in the federal budgets. Maybe the parties should be asked to get off the public dole? Or don't you remeber what happened a little over a month ago with the hissy fit when it was perposed that the canadian political parties do without some of thepublic funding. As for you knoweleg of the tanks you may not know this but the leopard tank is thought to be one of the best in the world next to the British Challenger and the American M1A2. Those 40 moth balled tanks are more advanced then the ones we currently had. The Leopard was developed during the Cold war and is the main battle tank for most Europian Nations, it is a very good tank. IF you want to know if you are getting bang for your buck don't ask a bueacrat ask an enlisted person, what they think of the updating the military has received and you will get raving reviews.

Results what results he has done no better then broadbent. He will not be PM and I doubt he will be leader after the next leadership review. He has had 3 kicks at it and done nothing but make a lot of noise. Jack compramise really, what confidence motion has he not voted against? what kind of compromise has he tried to make with this government? Jack knows nothing of compromise, had he been thinking during the election he would have been tring for something realistic like maybe Stornaway. He has had real opportunity to renew his party take away the left vote of the liberal party and move his party closer to forming government down the road, but he has not taken the steps to do this. PMPM gave him real opportunity to take away the liberal party funding change the NDP to a Labour Party and become the other National party but alas this is lost on Jack and the NDP because they just don't get it.
