Stephen Harper Loses Insider Oops!
Alta4ever replied to Progressive Tory's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nope, but I didn't see a formal agreement or accord with 2 other parties did you? Did you see an agreement to give senate seats to Bloc members. I didn't. Harper didn't have a colaition government in waiting did he? Laytons coalition sure did. -

Why Are We Deporting Iraq War Resisters?

Really what protection does Canada have against the Russian hordes do we have amilitary that can stand toe to toe against them if they decide they are going to take our northern resources? -
I am by no means wealthy. But I do understand democracy something the liberals party doesn't. Please remind me how it is you people pick a leader ( when you don't just a have a coronation) You send delgates that each have so many votes. How the CPC does it, one member on vote. Which is more democratic? You should also read wild bills response above. And as I said many only can give 10 or 20 dollars a year. Heck if all you wanted to donate was the 1.95 the party would be happy to accept that.

That is who paid their salries that is who they contracted with. Not you not Canadians. The US Taxpayer has the right to prosecute these cowards for not fulfilling their obligation. Besides you a debt of graditude to the US taxpayer because it is they who pay for the military umbrella that protects most of the civilized world trade routes and ect. So if I were the US TAX payer I would say the same to you, F you. -

Just because something is legal to do doesn't always make it right. We just had an election and the coalition was negociated before parliment even had a chance to sit, Layton started this with the bloc right after election night, when the liberals entitlements were threated they came on board. Both Jack and Dion have looked very bad in the fall out. It was all about their grasp at power. -
Really only the wealthy do you even know what the average contribution is to the political parties? The average to the CPC is $117. $10 dollars a month. I don't know about yuou but I can afford that, but many contribute even less, 10, 15 20, 30 or even 40. Is getting these amounts impossible form any party. These aren't the wealthy people. Donations being capped at 2200 makes it so that even the wealth can contribute enough to buy influence. So what you have said aboive has really no merit. Private funding through grassroots donations means that the grassroots has final say over the party, if you can't apeal to your grassroots and get funding from them your party can't survive.

Jean Charest vied for leadership of the PC party in the 90's between him and Joe Clark. BTW Joe clark is thought of very poorly out this way. There was no CPC campaigning about the caolition here, the minute it hit the news people were pissed. The talk of seperation started the next day, there was no campaigning, the idea of and the words that Jack used see the signature were enough to creat the crisis in the west. It was all the coalitions doing, if they hadn't have tried this bloodless coup then the crisis never would have happened. But don't take my word for it you live in the center of the universe and you people know everything. -
This did nothing to make the country more democratic, it just made it so politicians don't have to justify themselves ot the base of the party. The Bloc hasn't raised any money in years the fund their campaigns based on taxpayer funding. The Liberal party Canada's Natural Governing Party could not have existed off the ideas and donations made to them during the last 5 years. If anything it has made the country less democratic becuase parties don't have to justify their ideas and be supported by people they just get to exist as an entitlement. Had this been the case back in 93 we would still have a federal PC party, and party that deserved to die after the mulrooney years. Just because they said it would be more democratic didn't make the country any more democratic. It is party of the political party welfare, it all needs to be eliminated, if a party wants to exist it should have to ask for donation and be made to live off its donations. If it can't then their aren't enough people who want to support it and it will dissapear and someone with a better idea will come along in thier place. As it sits now we will be stuck with the same old crap in all the parties for a long time come.

Ignatieff flip-flops on tax cuts
Alta4ever replied to capricorn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
After the projects are done what then? No more private sector jons were created. The only reason to spend in infrastructure would be to get more bang for the taxpayer buck, spend on infrastructure that needs to get done not usless ditch digging make work projects. -
Why Are We Deporting Iraq War Resisters?
Alta4ever replied to gordiecanuk's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is the only party that gives any support to our military. -
Because we are a NATO member state and comited to help our allies. This seems really hard for you to understand, if we are attacked and enter into a war, our allies must come and help us, we are expected to do the same our allies. One of them happened to be attacked we are holding up our commitment. But commitment means nothing to you does it? You just expect expect expect and are willing to give nothing in return. Remeber it is these treaties that along with the vetrans of many wars, that gives you the rights and freedoms that you are exercising right here. If their weas no Nato you might be speaking german or russian, or in a mass grave of political prisoners. The world would be a very different place if we did not support our NATO Allies, their would be no west germany, who knows how much of europe would have ended up under the iron curtain.

Why is the Iraq war wrong, becasue you say so? Because the leftist bleeding heart moron media and Nacy Pelosi say its wrong? They toppled a man who acted very much like both Hitler and stalin who some of you around here seem like to compair GW to. This is man to used chmical weapons on both his own people and his enemy. This is a place were people were put to death for religious belief, and political opposition to Hussein. This dictator idolized stalin he was someone to be delt with, whether or not how the US got invovled it needed to be done, even Hans Blitz realized this, Clinton just didn't have the Balls. These people now have freedom something that they didn't have before. You better pull your brown nose out of your own butt and realize that these people are legally, and morally required to either do their job or face the consequences of it iinstead of hinding behind someone else. -

Well if you dislike the conditions the military faces then maybe you should vote conservative so they get the funding and equipment updates they deserve. Unlike the years of neglect they faced under both liberal and progressive governments. -
Unfornately trade is necessary. Would you want to do without sugar, how about rice, how about tires for your car, rubber isn't produced in North America, just refined and turned into consumables. We don't have every resource in each country we have to trade to aquire them. We will never be self sufficant unless, you wish to deprive citizens of their wants and only allow them to have their basic needs met clothing food water, shelter, and absolutely no choice. Not my idea of a decent life, we have seen that type of lifestyle, and would you be willing to give up all we have to live in the old soviet life style. Bread lines little to no conviences. I doubt you will find many people willing to give up the lifestyle they have now.

Well if Harper's going then there had better be an election.
-
Again I ask for historical proof that isolationism has worked, it has been tried before. Quit tring to change the subject.

Really personal transport for a campaign exceeds that? Not the campaign numbers I have seen. There is a lot of extravigant spending in campaigns. The major cost is adverstising. The 2,200 a year is plenty. How was all of this done before big budgets and airtravel? -
So we are going to have an election? The opposition are going to trigger one?
-
So Again I ask the question show me were isolationism has worked for a country?
-
Neither, but ignoring what happing in the world doesn't make the problems go away, and when you ignore a problem it generally get worse.
-
Really how many Americans payed with their lives in two world wars when they were eventually drawn in? What if Japan hadn't been ignored before it directly attacked America? You right you haven't learned anything from history.

Just because the world does not conform to your idea utopia doesn't make the whole world nazi's. There is a fair amount of Fascist policy in different world governments like the EU and Russia, but their is a difference between facism and Nazism. Neither are good, throwing around these words to describle a world that you can't understand, does nothing to further it. -

So you are goingt o blame the government to tried to give idiots what they wanted? This is exactly the same senario as the long gun registry a list protects nobody, the criminals still do what they want and get a hold of what they want, and if they got a hold of the registry list as well there would be a lot of stolen gun used by criminals committing crimes.
