  1. Maybe you just aren't finding yourself in the majority, how long before your referendum votes go the wrong way would you be back on here complaining about that system?
  2. And voting is worth every penny, if you think that the time spent in a voting booth is a waste of you time then by all means stay home. We the taxpayer should not have to accomidate your laziness or ego, if you want the right then the onus is on you to show up and exercise it. If you can't do this, then the right has never ment much to you. I would much rather have a turn out of 40% of eager interested voters, then a turn out of 80% of apathetic, uninterested voters.
  3. We have mail in ballots and advanced polling. IF you are interested in finding out how to vote given specific circumstances call elections canada. Its not hard, it just takes a little effort, not necessarily a bad thing.
  4. So let me get this straight you want to abolish the house of commons for referendums but retain the partisan appointments who have no one to answer to for sober second thought? Whould anybody work anyomore between researching this or that for upcomming votes? Or would we all just be lead around by the nose through TV ads and band wagon tactics by small vested interest groups...NO THANKS.
  5. You would be surprised what an actuary can do and what already has been done with those types of tables. Have you heard of Disablitiy insurance? How about critical illlness insurance? These are both forms of insurance that use the data that you have managed, and their are actuaral tables for them that have been updated year after year. You only think its impossible because you don't like the idea of it.
  6. The standard life insurance app would suffice, you would be able to get enough from that to underwrite a policy without it getting too combersome. But I see where you are comming from you want the taxpayer to pay for your choices. Just think we wouldn't need sin taxes if the public purse did have the responisbility of funding 100% of healthcare. But then again the left never likes to take responsibility for itself.
  7. Those descions would then be up to the province and its citizens a more dicrect form of government, with a lot less waste and dupication. Not to mention the taxes I pay federally wouldn't be funding a a social program from another province that I don't approve of. It is taxation with better representation.
  8. I asked because I know that you do, and the tax implications to a farm are a far different thing then they are to a small business, they are very different when it comes to financial planning.
  9. So...pronvincial tax policies directly effect the provincial economy and public services offered.
  10. I guess you have never bought a life insurance policy have you? Read a policy declaration or the terms and conditions in regard ot non disclosure and misrepresentation.
  11. Wish we had gone in Dec.
  12. I would be happy to give you the right of free choice, if you would do the smae with health care, why should I subsidize you and your habits. I would be quite happy to have everyone pay some form of health care premium underwritten on their lifestyle.
  13. Who said get rid of them, we will just have the proper jurisdiction looking after them again. Funny that Alberta hasn't been studied but than again you wouldn't like the results.
  14. It would work at a much lower amount if we got rid of the all the tax credits and trimmed the fat out of the budget in other words all the incusions into provincial pammters would stop. what your reports show is that that type of tax system does not work for the entitlements you seem to think you deserve to receive. BTW this isn't Russia.
  15. Fairer is one of those words........Depends on what side of the table your on.
  16. Who said anything about uninformed people? That phrase doesn't appear in this thread.
  17. Just so you know the parties power and base are still west of Ont., this was very evident at the Policy confrence.
  18. No our federal tax works the same as yours, it would be nice to see a real reform in it. But before any real tax reform can be accomplished, current spending on programs needs to be addressed. If you are going to further reduce taxes spending also has to be curtialed. There is a lot of useless pandering done and a lot of fake outrage and furvor whipped up by the media when anyone tries to do this. The crap needs to be cut and a real tax change needs to be made, and if that means some bean counters lose their jobs because the tax system is simplfied then so be it.
  19. So what is stopping these tech savvy people from getting off their asses walking or driving to the polling station and putting an x in a box, is this too complicated for them? Why should we go through all this expense for people who can't even take a little responsiblity on themselves to exercise their right. Are these people just lazy or what? The last thing we need to do it is increase the expense of elections by having taxpayers poay for another federal government over blown bloated computer program contract. Pencil and paper works fine, if you can't be bothered to get off your ass and go vote then maybe you deserve what you get.
  20. Really prove it, ten percent is ten percent. 10% of 10,000 is a $1000, 10% of 20,000 is 2000 so who is unfairly being taxed and where is the burden being shifted? The more you make the more you pay. The huge shift as it were is to the big corporations 10% of huge annual earnings works out ot a big number, not to mentiuon the royalty payments. So please again enlighten us with your "superior" tax system.
  21. You can't turn everything into a pleblisite. The country would cease to function if we always had to wait for a vote. It would be nice to have the odd referendum but....People don't vote ever 4-5 years we have a municiple election every 3 years, a provincial election every 4- to five years and a federal election every 4 - five years. The logest I have ever gone between votes is 2 years. Now if you are also a member of municple planning boards ect, you get to vote on policy at least once a month so....If you want to vote more and have more of an impact it is very possible you just have to find a way to be invovled. Why should everything have to come to you?
  22. Our flat tax works very well. Their is a basic exemption and few tax credits, on the whole we pay way less because of it and it is far superior to anything else currently in use in this country. That is unless we went to a consumption based tax system (only), the more you buy the more you pay.
  23. Are you farming? I'm just curious and tring to get a bead on what is going on in this thread.
  24. Nothing is stopping them now from making the effort.
  25. Funny to see that a liberal party supporter/member knows what is going on in the CPC better than the general membership of the CPC.
