They signed up voluntarily for service be it reserves or not, no one forced them to enlist, they had no card that said service was manidtory at 18 so they are refugees these people are the victims of their own will they mad a commitment and the US taxpayers made a commitment to them, now it that the time has come for these people to live up to their obligations they run with tail between their legs. -

They are refugees they have created their own situation, its not like they have been drafted into service. -
The senate stalled the bills what was going on in JUne do you remeber? NOthing but commitees shutting down day in and day out because they were more interested in a Cadmen witch hunt then actually doing their jobs. The liberals had a majority government in 1998, plus an election called just days after Stockwell day took over the Alliance I remeber very well what went on.

I am small c and I wouldn't vote for Iggy. He will get the sympathetic left, but will do nothing about the vote numbers in Alberta, after the coalition crap I doubt the NDP will keep that seat and the liberals will have affermed to another generation of Albertans why we don't vote liberal. It will be a very long time before this province sees another red seat. -

You do realise their is a big difference between small c conservatives and red tories right? -
Funny I don't recall a minority gov in 1998. I wonder why nothing has been passed in 10 months have a look at the work the senate has been doing. How long did they stall the term limits bill again? A document what two whole paragraphs long? How about the hijacked commities why legislation that passed forst reading in the house was then sent back by the senate to go to commitee where guess what it is stalled or they were unable to bring up the matter because certain parties were tring to turn commitee meetings into judcial witch hunts. Time to learn a little about how our government works and the impediments of it in a minority government. It is amazing anything got passed and turned into law.

Civilians do vote (last I checked MP's and elected government officials are civilians and the general public votes for them) on whether or not to go to war it is called an election. Foreign policy from democratic nations comes from the populace of the country.

The world community has tried twice to create a type of world government, it has shown that is cannot and does not work. -
History is proof of all you say, just like the Inca people themselves did not disapear after conquest just the society it had created. Victory in war doesn't mean the destruction of a people eyeball.

Why Are We Deporting Iraq War Resisters?
Alta4ever replied to gordiecanuk's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
While you may like or dislike the way a war is being fought the war is being fought western militarys no long target civil population as was done in past wars. We have seen no carpet bombing. The militaries do their best to keep civilian death to a minimum. Unlike those the US were fighting in Iraq who targeted inocents. All of this aside, these deserters have not lived up to a commitment they made to the people of the United States. They have used up valuable resource and the American tax payer has gotten nothing back for their investment. These poeple are cowards they refuse to do their jobs and they are too scared to face judgement for their actions. Not to mention how many of their friends in the military have been wounded or died because they let their units and friends down. When you listen to WWII vets talk about why they signed up for additional tours of duty or made return flights over targets that seemed like sucide, they reason why they said they did it was because if they didn't someone would have to and it might have been one of their friends. This is the hire moral cause they did it not for their countries not for a cause but did the courageous thing to protect a fellow solder and for a friend. These deserters have let their country down, they have let themselves down, but worst of all they have let their fellow solders and friends down. Send them back to pay the piper. -

As for Isreal, not heading down the right path for peace that is subjective. How do you head towards peace with an enemy who does not desire it and has committed itself to the descruction of you people and your country? -
Canada Votes to Uphold UN Charter
Alta4ever replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The UN has all but proved its irrelevance. We waste funds every year on this organization it is time we shut it down. The league of Nations did not work, and the UN has proved itself not to work. It is useless and has done nothing constructive in decades. -

What did the Israels do other than defend themselves? How many wars have they defended themselves in then had the interference of the west in ending those wars before the issue could be decided. Most of the problems their now have been augmented by our intervention from the west. -

It is a NATO war though and an act against an ally is an act against us.

I have a thick skin, anyone who refers to Israeli's as Zionists are not interested in debating. To me that name indicates they are conspiracy theory wacko's. the word Zionist is also usually used as a derogitory term. -

If you want to see the civilian causalties stop then maybe you should stop defending those who use children and innocents as sheilds for their rocket attacks. -

I have seen no proof that the CPC have done the same thing. They erased the unfunded liability and sent up EI as a seperate entity from the General revenue account. How sould they possibly take an EI surplus that has already been spent? -

And what has to be given to get that support? They are part of the coalition. BUt you don't seem to understand that. -
Top Liberal denies Coalition exists!
Alta4ever replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes it is, you have to be able to retain the confidence of the house, how do you do that if you don't have enough seats in your coalition to out vote the current governing party. They are required to have bloc support.
