This is the generally accepted formula, I believe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake_equation

Yeah, unlike those Sun newspapers you devour.
-
So both the NDP and Liberals borrow heavily from the Greens's platform, and that leads you to believe that the Greens cannot be looked upon as a "real political party... anymore"?!?!?! The fact that you are so adament and desperate to trash the Greens suggests that you're threatened by its existence and it becoming a significant player in Canadian politics.
-
So all it takes is 9% points from the Liberals and NDP each to shift on election day...
-
I'd like to know where you get your information. Got a lot of connections in the Green Party, do you? I don't know how she's "killed" the party considering she finally got it included in the leadership debate and that it is polling higher than it ever has. Even if the Greens only get half of what they're polling, they will still get about 150,000 more votes than last time.

McHale running as an Independent in election
kengs333 replied to Ontario Loyalist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
So if the Canadian government passed a law today stating that all members of Six Nations should be deported to Cuba, would you still believe that "our governments respect our laws"? Or are the laws only legitimate when they benefit Six Nations? -
Yeah, and for that matter on TV. Yet again we have the media turning this into a two-party affair with obvious partiality for the Cons.

Brantford Expositor was the Conservatives: http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/ArticleDi....aspx?e=1243512 Like I said, the media wants Harper to win. This really shouldn't come as a surprise, really. It has nothing to do with the Cons being the better party...

Theoretically, I think most astronomers would agree now that the chances of there being some sort of lifeforms out there is almost guarenteed, and that there may be (and may have been) some advanced civilizations. Could they visit us, though? Extremely unlikely.
-
Take the Green Party score and halve it; add one half to the Liberals Take 2% points from the NDP; add to the Liberals. The Cons are going to get very few seats in the Maritimes and maybe one in Quebec. They may do well in rural Ontario, but they will lose the urban areas.
-
And this is before the election day left-wing shift to the Liberals...
-
Ummmm... the Conservative Party basically is a regional party representing in the Prairies. Well, they just changed their name a couple of times and eliminated their conservative rivals.

McHale running as an Independent in election

So who thinks that McHale is actually going to win this one? -
How old are you?

I believe what is true...

You may want to reread the question.

I thought our economy was fine, though... It really does smack of political opportunism given that our economy is so integrated with that of the United States'. Staving of the inevitable just long enough for the election, then who knows what? so they say...

Reread the question...

"Prime Minister Dion Loses Something In Translation"
kengs333 replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You guys must be getting desperate if you're resorting to Sun newspapers for your information. Ypus should isten more closely to some of Harper's interviews/speeches when he slips up. When a person starts on a negative/pessimistic tangent and then corrects themself quickly--the correction is cleayly never what the person truly believes. I'm getting the sense that Harper think the situation with the economy is basically hopeless. -
No, downward; as in 9 is lower than 12, and 3 is lower than 9. Downward trend.
-
That's a holdover from the Liberals, and wouldn't be happening if Harper had a majority. If Harper had a majority we would be in a serious deficit by now and the debt would be ballooning like it did under Mulroney.

Canada Adds 107,000 Jobs in September
kengs333 replied to Jobu's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Most are part-time, though. It's so anomolous and just happens to coincide with the Conservative's desperate attempt to form a majority, that it's almost suspect. Whatever the case, we're still at 6.1% unemployment.
