Because admitting and seceding are not the same thing. If a "state" wants to be admitted to the Union, then it is based on the belief that this would be mutually beneficial. States would want to secede when they feel that the Federal government is behaving in such a way that the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the state are threatened. You don't know what a logical fallacy is, then, it would seem. If you care to actually research the concept of self-determination, you'd learn that it is considered a human right. I don't think that 12 to 20% of the population of a state constitutes "a few huckleberries with a web site".

Can you be anymore obtuse and crude? If you think I'm worng, then prove it. But until you can do that, the general consensus is that FTA and NAFTA are responsible for significantly increasing trade between the US and Canada.

Well, look at that: the IMF is fear mongering!!!! "All of the major industralized countries are grappling with the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression in the 1930s, the IMF said."

Who says they would invest in growth?

I kind of admired Maher for being outspoken on some issues, but I think that something like this is tasteless and hypocritical. One can easily make something look "ridiculous" by selecting certain kinds of characters and editting the film to make the person look even less flattering. You know, like the way Nazi propagandists would always portray Jews as spindly, hook-nosed, and miserly looking... Someone could easily make an equally bigotted film called Seculigulous and snip together a bunch of film about crack adicts, gang bangers, transvestites, serial killers, telemarketers, and members of the USMC...

This is one of the rare occasions that I can agree with Argus.

McHale running as an Independent in election

You're one to talk. But I'm sure you're totally convinced that racism is only something that whites perpetrate against non-whites. Whatever the case, my issues with Six Nations have nothing to do with race. The fact that members of Six Nations are non-white should not shield them from criticism for how they as a community conduct themselves in dealing with their fellow Canadians. They are the ones who define themselves based on their race and heritage, they are the ones who want to maintain a distinctive identity. -
It probably costs the NDP a lot of votes.

All those do play a role, though.

Go ahead. Basically all you do here is cause trouble by spewing outrageous lies and false accusations. The second that anybody says anything about Six Nations you--an your friend "tango"--start screeching about "white supremacism". If you are who I think you are, you're just a spineless loudmouth who hides behind a camera and tries to bait people into unflattering situations. If I'm inclined, I'll try and dig up the videos that I think you've posted on you_tube and post the links so that others can see what kind of nonsense you engage in. -

No, s/he's falsely stating that you are supporting someone that s/he accuses of being "some Aryan supporter". -
I really just can't stand that smug, arrogant smile that Harper has now when he's answering questions, in particular about the economy. Reminds me of the Joker from Batman...

Do you think it's prudent to tie our economy to one country?

Hate to break it to you, but the Roman Empire doesn't exist anymore. Nor does Charlemagne's Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire... Political entities form, and then break apart again. This has happened all throughout history. To suggest that this sort of thing cannot happen to the United States is absurd. Well, it already happened once, and was ruthlessly suppressed.

Like those 500 from Volvo, or 800 from John Deere?

Yeah, I guess humour isn't in my blood...

You mean, the kind of social safety net that neocons despise and would gladly get rid of given the chance? Go figure.

Your vague, nonsensical one-liners?

The region is littered with smaller impact craters because whatever it was exploded several miles above the surface. But it's really irrelevant given that this is believed to be a very large object and it entered the Earth's atmoshpere causing widespread destruction. Fortunately, it exploded over a largely unpopulated region.

LOL NAFTA has everything to do with the US having a functioning economy so that we can sell things to them. If Americans don't have money or the desire to spend, then we suffer. And that's what this is all boiling down to.

I don't think that anyone is running around "pulling [their] hair out"--they're just being more honest and realistic. The word "depression" is now starting to enter the vocabulary of market analysist when taking about this "historic" situation. The economy is set to slow down considerably over the next couple of years, and if you know anything about the Great Depression you'll know that the economy hits rock bottom about four years after a crash in the market like the one that we're experiencing now. Nobody buys it when Harper sits there and dispationately claims that there's no reason to worry, that Canada has to stay the course. A lot of people are losing a lot of money, and Harper's attitude just won't sit well with them... I wouldn't be surprised if the Cons actually end up losing this election.

The reason our economy is going to suffer is because of NAFTA. The whole point of NAFTA is to make trade easier with the US, and so now over 75% our exports go to that country. When the American economy implodes like it is, we're in deep doo-doo. People saw this as a possibility, and now it will be a reality. Mulroney, and everyone else responsible for NAFTA, is responsible for this. We can only be thankful that our economy is not more intehrated with that of the US as some would have liked.

Is this a homophobic slur??????? I'm not on welfare, but many of the people on Six Nations, if they aren't languishing in a jail, are. And/or engaged in organized crime. So I don't think that you should be so quick to make those kinds of assertions. That's readily apparent. Nor do yours. People don't respond to your posts because they respect your opinions.
