  1. Nope, he sold the land, and this land was subsequently settled by pioneers. End of story. Well, there's another whitewashing for you; sure, I suppose that some outsiders were "adopted (ie. taken prisoner, forced to intermarry) but by and large a member of the Six Nations descend from a certain racial stock, and the integrity of this racial heritage has always been something of an issue, hasn't it?
  2. The Neutrals were neutral in the sense that they stayed out of the fighting between the Huron and the Iroquois, but themselves were at war with Indians in southern Michigan. At one point they apparently staged an attack in which they killed approximately 800 people, took numerous prisoners, some of whom the ended up torturing to death. In the end, the Iroquois came and did to the Neutrals what had been done to the Huron. They did so because they wanted access to the land so that they could improve their position in relation to trade with the British.
  3. Wow! This is an interesting change. I could have sworn you simply responded "No". Quoting from an "anarchist communist" is totally absurd, there's no way that you can expect any sort of credibility by doing so. Not that you have any, from what I've read.
  4. So let's see the archaeological reports confirming this, then. The historical reports documenting the events of the mid-1600s were recorded by contemporaries and those that did were likely not inclined to do anything that would benefit the British. I'm always willing to consider differing perspectives on historical events, but blatant fabrication and misrepresentation is a totally different matter--regardless of who does it.
  5. You're avoiding the fact that much of the Haldimand Tract was sold off well before the 1840s by Joseph Brant, am I not correct? If the land was sold, then that's the way it is. I'm not sure why you have to drag out the "racism" word; I'm for a united Canada, a Canada in which there are people of many races who are citizen; balkanizing it is the last thing I want to see happen. That makes me a racist? A tad hypocritical, isn't it, considering that the whole basis for Six Nations identity is acommon racial heritage?
  6. I always find it interesting how people wield the word "ignorant" when they can't find a suitable answer. It is true, though, isn't it? The Six Nations Indians did basically butcher most of the Indians that were resident in the Grand River area, didn't they? The land that they are occupying is, by their own definition, stolen from an other nation of Indians, isn't it?
  7. I think it's fair to say that if someone occupies land for 150 years and no one does anything about it, at some point during that 150 years rights to the land are forfeited. If this wasn't the case, the nobody would have a valid claim to land anywhere on this planet. Face it, Joseph Brant sold off much of the land, and in many cases there is conclusive proof that the sales were legitimate. You can't come along 150 years later and say, well, what he did doesn't suit us anymore and so we still own this land. It doesn't work like that in the real world. And in the end, it only makes you people look bad.
  8. Anyone claiming not to be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada is an illegal alien and should be removed from this country without further ado. The Six Nations Indians aren't "native" to the Grand River region anyway. That distinction goes to the so-called Neutral Nation which was uncerimoniously slaughtered by the Iroquois in the mid-1600s at about the same time the Iroquois were doing away with the Huron. Subsequent to this, the Iroquois did not fully occupy the region, using it instead as a hunting ground until they were soundly defeated by the Ojibway in the 1700s and driven back into New York. If the Six Nations Indians are so keen on correcting historical wrongs, perhaps they should address the crimes that they themselves committed.
  9. The Liberals are dead in the water. It's just a matter of when Harper wants to finish them off. From his standpoint an election in November would be prudent should things turn out favourably in Ontario. The economy is doing fine, no scandals to worry about, and the situation in Afghanistan has settled down now that the winter months are approaching.
