CFL Light Bulbs are Toxic

Us too. We have a stock of the good old ones. Studies have shown that CFL's and LED's in regular home use save miniscule amounts of energy. -
Maclean's: Winnipeg Is Most Racist City

A rather ironic statement when you consider that you are one who advocates a Carbon tax that will remove money from everyone's pockets while doing nothing for the environment. -

At the end of the day, when one eliminates all the hand wrenching and hyperbole over the evil and torturous effects of treatment this is the only point that truly matters. -

Well Bryan although its hard to determine whether many of the things he said, or didn't say, are BS what is clear are his bogus claims of donating money to vets and his story about Ventura. In my case I tend to disregard what a person claims when they've been shown to lie about other things. Having said that I will watch the movie. I just wont run out and spend money on it. Instead I'll wait until it hits the movie channels on TV. After all I subscribe to them for just this reason. Recently the Lego movie was on, man I'm glad I didn't pay to see that big ball of crap! -

I was not aware that Provinces could have a Prime Minister. When do the rest of us get ours? Or did you mean to say Premiere? -

Letters was superb. The fact that he managed to generate simpathy for the Japanese soldiers was outstanding. A prime example of good effective story telling. -

Latest movie I've watched was this, last night. I suppose it could go in the sports section as well. In truth it isn't really a movie, but it sort of is. This is beyond amazing, a spectacle of perseverance and determination. Next I have to see if I can find coverage of the latest ISDE, America took first place for the first time in 50 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6exXbuzn9I -
Not really, they're doing it because they can. Look at Honda Alliston. They no longer actually hire anyone. Instead new hires are on a contract basis to be renewed every one or two years. This includes their tech's. Of course these contract workers make far less than those who were previously hired. it's all about the money. They make record profits year after year and the little guy makes less. It's a brave new world.

Just to make a point, as it appears some here are spectacularly unaware of what is required. In order to make a modern plant run properly you need a very high level of skills. You need people who are skilled in robotics, programming, electronics, mechanical abilities and of course the strong application of logic related to trouble shooting. Many people appear to believe that modern automated plants just hum along with no problems. This is not true. There are breakdowns, and unanticipated glitches that come up constantly. The skills are far beyond the ability of someone sitting at a desk in an office and are not easily or quickly aquired. I just wanted to point this out in order to be sure that people are aware that such skills are not equivalent to a Wallmart cashier or McD's burger flipper. On the other hand if these guys were smart they'd just pull out their smart phone and everything would be hunky dory as another poster constantly likes to tell everyone.

First Nations Girl who Refused Chemo has Died
AngusThermopyle replied to Boges's topic in Religion & Politics
Of course she was cancer free. Everyone knows that cancer just goes away on its own all the time. Get real people! That was sarcasm by the way, for those who are obviously cognitively challenged. All I can say is that this comes as no surprise to me at all. At the time I remember thinking death sentence. It really wasn't all that hard to figure out. What amazes me is that some here still appear to be unable to figure it out. -

So you believe that Ventura isn't entitled to the same application of the law as any one else? Because? He's Ventura and you don't like him? Perhaps you believe that he's fair game for libel because you don't like him. Perhaps you think he should just suck it up and go along with the lies, even though they've been proven 100% to be lies. Myself, I have no personal opinion on Ventura, I don't really care what he believes. What I do believe though is that he's entitled to a fair and equal application of the law, just like anyone else. Apparently, from what you wrote about him, you do not. So, how exactly do you determine who is and is not entitled to fair treatment? As for his looters and car jackers lies. He repeated them more than once to reporters who then attempted to verify them. Obviously without success. His Ventura crap, as you full well know, is in the book. This is why his estate lost the case. His wife can appeal all she wants, it wont change what was published in black and white. I should also add, what an obviously stupid made up story it was. You telling me you actually fell for that one? -

Ah Derek, perhaps you should actually read his book. You know, the book that actually contains these tales that according to you only surfaced after his death. As to the lawsuit, why shouldn't Ventura sue over an obvious and damaging lie that was also contained in his book? The fact that he won the suit should tell you something all on its own. So how about his claims that he donated all proceeds from the book to Veterans when in fact its been shown he actually donated 2%? Now this is rich, considering the fact that these stories were in his book. Guess you hit the nail on the head with that one. That's right, we should never let silly things like facts get in the way of some good old fashioned hero worship should we. -

Haha! Well played. I wonder if they also mentioned how he donated all the proceeds from his book to American Vets, but didn't. Or how he knocked out Ventura, but didn't. -
Never could stand Spector and his wall of noise technique. I have Let It Be, Naked. The album redone without the wall of noise treatment and it sounds so very much better. Right now I'm listening to this lady and she rocks man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UAeoarIX0Q

Seriously? Well how about Afghanistan then. Obviously the Taliban don't give a rats ass about economics but seem to really really give one about religion.

And once again, do you really expect such a cite or, if you will, evidence to just be sitting around for any one to find and use? That's just not a realistic scenario by any measure. -

This is obviously not true. One merely has to look to many middle eastern countries to see this assertion soundly refuted.

Lucy, an exercise in Hollywood absurdity
AngusThermopyle replied to kimmy's topic in Arts and Culture
Agreed Cyber. Frankly I've never been a fan of Smith. To me the vast majority of his work is basically just fluff, but then fluff does sell. After Earth was actually painful to watch, his kid was awful with that perpetually stunned expression on his face. As for his version of The Omega Man, I Am Legend, well Charlton nailed it while Smith just ended up looking like a tepid copy. I should add that I thought I Am Legend fit neatly into the vanity category. I just hate that he took a great story like The Omega Man and turned it into...well I'm not really sure what he turned it into. -

Ahh! The old "you can't prove it so it didn't happen" argument. Nice. Given the nature of such dealings and their inherently unethical and possibly illegal nature do you really think such proof would be easily obtainable for just anyone to find? Your rebuttal is simplistic and, I have to say somewhat short sighted given that it dismisses any such possibility out of hand and discourages any discussion of that possibility.
