  1. Yep, for real. Just go to the news sections of The Mohawk Nation News titled "news", the article is called blowing in the wind, or some such thing. In it this Horn nutbar talks about Natives being owed money because Native wind is being used to generate electricity. The only Native wind I know of is the excessive amounts of the hot stuff that issues forth every time she opens her mouth.
  2. The spectator Here's an article from the spectator dealing with the burning of the "Embassy/Shack". It doesn't say anything about fire inspectors but it does quite clearly intimate that a Canadian was responsible. I'm not even sure if a real inspector will investigate, it was just a shack after all.
  3. Oh-oh! sounds like Oprah is starting her very own Residential School program. Part of her nefarious plan to commit genocide against the African people no doubt. Well, she'll pay for that in the future. P.S. Perhaps she only wants to cull the africian culture from them so she can instill some African culture in its place.
  4. Hooo! You so funny BC! Actually whats really funny is you making fun of the royal ceremonial regalia. Ever look at the average American military person in uniform? You guys give out medals like party favours. You get one for qualifying on the service rifle, one for a nice uniform, oh and lets not forget the one you get for going on a military exercise. Impressive, yeah right, sure. The average american serviceman with five years in sports more bling than any tinpot South American Dictator could in three lifetimes. Talk about cheapening the meaning of meritourious awards. really man, before you sling stones you should move out of that glass house. Please feel free to respond in a childish petty manner, after all its expected of you.
  5. Now this is very odd. Just last weekend three local fire departments responded to three seperate fires on Standoff, the natives claimed they were all started by Canadians, even though they were well onto reserve land. Could it be the actions of some unnamed Canadian freedom fighting resistance group? Is this the begining of a spate of Canadian/Native fires?
  6. Thanks for the link Posit, it was very interesting. I find the following especially interesting for a number of reasons. what I find interesting amongst other things is the fact that it states people are compelled to shun the ones it names on the basis of tribal law. My question to you is this. From the way it reads it would appear they are saying all Canadians should shun these people based on Tribal law. Why the hell would any Canadian be compelled to do anything based on Tribal law? We are not members of any Native tribe nor are these laws applicable to the average citizen, so these laws are meaningless to Canadians in general. It would appear to be a measure of immense conceit on the behalf of these Native leaders to believe that any of us would do anything they say, or for that matter give a rats ass what they say. Next is the part where it talks about disclosing the locations of "mass graves". On many past occasions both yourself and Jenny have said that these locations are known already by many people. If that's the case then why would they attempt to compel the disclosure of these "mass graves". Could it be that you and Jenny were just making up "facts" as you went along in order to bolster your point? As I said, interesting reading, most likely not for the same reasons you find it to be so, but interesting nonetheless. After perusing it I find its full of opinion but sadly lacking in proof. Is this really the best you can come up with?
  7. I'm curious about this one. I really haven't paid much attention to the situation over there. Is it a democratically elected government or is it a military dictatorship? I would tend to think the latter myself, just his title alone seems to indicate that, you know, the President General part. Then the ability to arbitrarily make and enact laws because of his declaration of national emergency. I could be wrong though, as I said, I haven't been following the situation in Pakistan at all. My knowledge in this area is limited to the broad general picture and is lacking in details. Does anyone here have a more thorough knowledge of this situation? Okay, strike the above, it's a dictatorship. Nothing Democratic at all about military coup's. You can usually tell these guys by the titles they grant themselves. Like Idi Amin Dada, his title was something like "Doctor General President for life Idi Amin Dada".
  8. Truer words have never been spoken. I was reading MNN again (I know, I shouldn't, but it's like a bad car crash, you shouldn't look but you just cant help yourself). I had a really good laugh when I read the part about how companies generating electricity with windmills should be paying the Mohawks because they are using their wind to generate power. Of course they conveniently forget the fact that the wind is part of a global weather system on this planet, nope, they just lay claim to it as they do with every thing else. So I guess wind is on the table now along with all the other bullsh*t they spout.
  9. I think the point is that any who think the common man of that time was not ignorant are extremely ill informed. That would include both French and English. Do you honestly believe that the common people of that time were well educated and all participated in some form of higher education? The simple fact is that most people were unschooled and illiterate. To deny this is to blind oneself to historical fact.
  10. Here's an idea, why don't you take a stab at learning to speak English first? If that works out for you then you can try "academia".
  11. I have to disagree with your statement. Sometimes I agree with what Rue has to say, other times I don't. In this case I must say that he delivered an excellent post, it was full of information that is extremely relevant to the subject at hand. Could it be that you dismiss the information he set forth as irrelevant because you have no legitimate response? I cant understand why you dismiss this post as worthless. It's well known that Turkey committed genocide, it's well known that Turkey is rabid in its denial of this genocide. And yes its well known that Turkey tries to quell any dissent from other countries by the use of threats. Not much that can be legitimately dismissed in his post actually. If one lived in denial of all that disagrees with their views then such a dismissal could be understood, but for one who claims to be a rational person to do so is just childish. I've followed the Turkish genocide subject with interest for the very reason that I find their denial to be fascinating in its irrationality. By the way, Turkey is not a bastion of the idyllic lifestyle, very very far from it. I had the misfortune of spending some time in that country, it sucks in a majorly hard way. If I never go back it will be too soon.
  12. Thats a good point. I hear this "brain washing" claim made constantly by activist types. None of them have as yet explained exactly how teaching people to read and do basic Mathematics is "brain washing". The whole "brain washing" claim is just more BS on the same level as mass graves of thousands upon thousands who were buried in school basements. Not one shred of proof, just more "oral" crap. The next question to be asked is should we have not tried to give them an education. Would it be better if all Natives had remained illiterate and unable to even do simple addition and subtraction?
  13. This is just a wild guess, a stab in the dark if you will, but I don't think that those who eat themselves to death have any kind of self image at all. Good or bad.
  14. Poor muffin, 30 charges and he whines about his treatment. Too bad it was the leg and not the head. Of course we'll have the usual crowd screaming about his dignity and inhumane treatment. Personally I don't give a sh*t how they treat him. He's 21 years old and already a star player in the criminal system. I wonder if he can be rehabilitated in a kind and gentle way?
  15. Hmmm, I know some would say that, I don't happen to be one of those though. It's true that the Christian beliefs used to be a major factor in western civilization but I dont think that holds true anymore. There are more and more people like myself who just can not accept an ancient tale as the guiding force in our lives. Personally I believe you'll find thugs in every society. I don't believe this is any reason to attempt to legitimise or excuse thuggery as some would do. All such people should be dealt with harshly, no matter what their race or religious affiliation.
  16. I find this whole debate baffling actually. I simply do not understand those who advocate greater taxation. Canada is already one of the most highly taxed nations in the world yet some call for an even greater degree of taxation. Personally I would rather keep more of the money I earn in my pocket, not give it to a bunch of buffoons who will then gleefully fritter it away on useless causes and projects. Sure, lets give more so we can fund more gun registries and sponsorship scandals. while we're at it we can find some more special interest groups so we can fund their parades and special causes. Hell, for such a lofty goal I'll be willing to put in some more overtime each week, after all, none of us have anything better to do with our money. In my opinion if it keeps my money in my pocket then it's not a bad thing.
  17. So what exactly would this underpowered piece of crap be usefull for? It's underpowered, low capacity, low total haulage weight, and probably a sh*t load more problems if you look into it. I just cant see myself trying to haul a Bobcat through the mountains into BC with this hunk of junk. You'd end up pulling the "truck" with the Bobcat. Small novelty vehicles like this are fine for the city where not much heavy work is done but in the wider world they'd be nothing more than a pain in the ass toy for those who want to pretend they have a truck. People seem to forget that theres a wide world of work out there. For this world of work no better alternative than gas and diesel currently exists.
  18. I believe that people have a far greater obligation to take care of themselves than the government does. To even speculate that the government is responsible for the personal health choices people make is absurd. What next? The government should make us bathe regularly, make us go to bed at the approved time? I find far too many people are unwilling to behave like adults and accept responsibility for their own lives, this whole idea that the government should make sure we eat properly simply serves to illustrate the lack of personal responsibility many people display in this day and age.
  19. It would appear that quite a bit of "venomous hate spewing" is going on right there in that post. Ironic dont you think?
  20. I dont have much experience with this group on a personal level. I do think that what you describe can be applied to quite a few people, not neccessarily members of this specific group. Like I said though, I have very little experience with this group so I cant comment conclusively on this situation.
  21. Thats true, as such I believe it's a non issue. This will be corrected before any election takes place. If not then the entire election would be deemed invalid.
  22. Nothing new here. Being in the military has always been a stressfull choice. Every time you deploy you're stressed, your familly undergoes hardship, you miss your home and all the values of the society you come from. What is new however is the opportunity to use this stress as a political tool designed to further an agenda. Next, to address your point about "Peacekeeping". No such thing rationally exists. If peace exists it does not have to be "kept", if it does not exist then it has to be made. "Peacekeeping" is a fallacy foisted upon the Canadian people in order to make the work of the Armed Forces more palatable to the average citizen. In a word our work for the most part is dirty. We go places and enforce our will on the people, thats not to say our will is one that is harmfull to these people. Just that they may not realize such at the time. We don't just show up and everything is sunshine and lollipops. Here's a news flash, even on "Peacekeeping missions we have had to fire our weapons in anger, for reference I would mention the battle of Medac Pocket. In Somalia we had to fire upon numerous occasions, we fitted Sea Kings with C9's using Bungie cords to suspend them in order to escort convoys and return fire at the Technicals that invariably showed up. Looking at it rationally the Military is a stressfull occupation, it always will be no matter what the deployment or circumstances.
  23. Exactly! I cant believe some of the garbage I've read in this thread so far. Let them skip some topics, what harm is there in that? Nonsense, sheer utter nonsense! Hey! here's an idea! why don't we just let everyone start to pick and choose what they want to learn and don't want to learn in order to obtain a degree, or any other form of credentials for that matter. If thats the case I think I'll go jump on a trampoline for a few hours and call myself an Astronaut. This also raises the question of the so called qualifications of Muslim doctors trained in their home countries. Are they actually properly trained, or do they skip certain subjects because of personal ideology? I do know that last time I took a cab in Calgary the driver was telling me he was a fully qualified engineer. I personally doubted his word on this since when I paid him he had to try three times to make correct change, doesn't seem to indicate comprehensive training if you ask me. So, do we just take these peoples word as to their qualifications, or do we actually verify competence in their claimed fields? I go for verify myself, but thats just me.
  24. Ummm, yes, I was being facetious. I only wear my Pirate/Ghandi outfit in the privacy of my own home, not while driving. Now, as to your next statement. I actually referred to her as Muslim because of the title of the thread, a little short sighted of me I must admit. However, after seeing her on the news the other night I would say she is either Muslim or has started dressing for Halloween a little bit early. The news report stated that she was using her cell phone at the time the accident occurred. No mention of head dress at all. The cell phone reason seems entirely probable to me. The final result however was that a child died because of her negligence (or so it would appear at this point in time). If such is the case then as I said ealier it doesn't matter if she is Muslim or a Clown shoes wearing Politician, she should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Just ban cell use in vehicles, they're more problems than they are worth. At the very least, if one must use a cell while driving then get a Bluetooth ear piece.
