  1. Hmmm...interesting style. Okay, your wonderfull eloquence in this debate has won me over. I agree with all you've ever said. No, not really. Are you loosing it Jennie?
  2. No...No!! Dont go! We'll all miss you terribly!
  3. What you say is indeed true to a degree. We caught a native guy dumping a horse carcass in the Oldman river. He protested greatly when we told him he could'nt do that, he didn't know what was wrong with this act. We also have to deal with frequent grass fires on the reserve as well. They cant, last time they tried to respond they discovered one of their fine upstanding citizens had stolen the engine from their pumper truck.
  4. Well I wish you the best of luck with your quest. I dont think your current technique will win you too many converts though.
  5. If that is to be taken at face value then it would appear our current Natives have learned the lesson well and far surpassed the teachers.
  6. Thats true, since I retired I have found myself missing many aspects of the life. No, you wont be poor but I really dont think anyone joins in order to become wealthy either. It is a sad fact that military pay has lagged far behind other roughly equivalent proffesions for many years. A 1st year rookie cop makes more than a 13 year Corporal does. That just doesn't seem right to me.
  7. Actually Jennie, its not my board, I just like you am a guest here. As for your White Supremacist rhetoric, well I know no such thing. I do believe your perception may be slightly coloured by your obvious zeal. I really dont think I'm a White Supremacist. I do know that many times over the years I have literally put my life on the line to help those of other races, some of them of a much darker hue than myself. Can you say as much Jennie? Or do all your efforts amount to posting on a forum and standing around gabbing at some roadblock? I do know however that where I live these views are indeed very much mainstream. I'm curious to know how you can make such assertions as fact considering they span such a vast nation.
  8. Soowas, if the stats shows these assertions to be true then how is that racist? A fact is a fact, or are you saying that when it comes to certain groups these facts should be ignored? As I've said before, to do so would be indicative of racism. Simply stating facts backed by stats is not racist. If the assertions were not actually facts then perhaps a case could be made for the racist angle.
  9. I'm curious, if this is how you truly feel then why do you choose to live here? From all I've seen you post it appears that you despise Canada and Canadians. I know that if I felt that way I would move to a place that would suit my ideals far more than the disgusting place in which I lived. Further to that it would appear your desire is to reclaim all of Canada and turn it over to Natives. That would mean you would be their tenant, is this what you want? I've served my country and always had a job and paid taxes. I have no desire to pay rent to a group of people of whom a great many have not contributed even one tenth as much. That would amount to making an entire population subservient to a select group. Do you not see the hypocrasy inherent in such a view?
  10. Sorry, I'm at work so I don't really have much time to post. I should have checked before I wrote.
  11. So because you have issues with a statement made by one person you now decide to paint everyone with the same brush. I know you'll disagree but such behaviour would appear at best to border on racism. Or is discrimination and racism selective? Can it only be applied to certain groups and not all. If that is the case then we have a conundrum here. It would indicate that those who claim to be anti racist are in fact being racist by the very act of being anti racist.
  12. Thank you, I see your point. You're saying that he is singling out a group of people by racial type rather than community location. Thats interesting, it falls right into line with what I said about profiling. So in fact rather than state a community is more prone to crime by per capita he should have said a group of people is more prone to crime on a per capita base. That would lead directly into the profiling thing and the quandries that arrive from it. On the other hand if a group of people are committing more crime per capita than another should that salient fact be ignored? The whole subject is somewhat of a Pandora's box wouldn't you agree?
  13. . Thats true, the Military has never been known as an upwardly mobile occupation. I think however that the vast majority of members serve for more altruistic reasons than money, much the same as your father. Thats why it annoys me a little to see the ignorant and uninformed refer to members as "white trash" or infer they are soulless killers as some of our favourite activists around here are wont to do. They could'nt be further from the truth actually.
  14. Jennie, for one who becomes indignant at any imagined slight you certainly enjoy slinging no-mind type insults around. Do you see anyone else around here calling you such names or acting like a spoilt ten year old? You dissapoint me when you behave as such, certainly you don't inspire me to listen to anything you have to say. It would be nice if you could show a little more decorum toward other members, don't you think?
  15. The Queenslave, could we please give this a rest? It's becoming very tedious and you do yourself a great disservice by these posts. In effect you are making people think somewhat less than charitable thoughts about you.
  16. Oleg, I really don't think the Allies went to war for "fun and profit". In fact they tried as best they could to avert it, with disastrous results, Neville Chamberlain (sp?). If you read Mien Kampf you will see that Hitlers whole premise was based around the concept of the Superman. Couple this with the disaffected feelings of the German populace after years of being marginalized post WW1 and all he had to do was find an enemy to energize the people. That enemy turned out to be the Jews. In the build up to WWII he never proselytized about making profit. It was all about building the German esteem and restoring them to their natural place as a ruling race. To say all war is about fun and profit is to grossly oversimplify the entire subject. Sure, some wars are fought for profit but an equal amount are fought for an ideology. Do you honestly think Islamic Jihadists are in it for "fun and profit" or could they perhaps be driven by ideology? I think the latter myself. After twenty years in the service I really cant recall any of my comrades stating that they thought war is fun.
  17. I agree, there is such a thing as driving while black. I'm talking about cases such as the one where the guy killed a three year old girl, was convicted and his mother promptly started screaming racism. I believe some church and community leaders were chiming in on that one as well. That brings up the whole issue of profiling. It can be a usefull tool, it's also understandable how law abiding people would feel victimized by the process. This raises the question of right and wrong. Is it right to use this because it can be effective, or is it wrong because it makes some decent people feel marginalized? I personally don't have the answer to those questions. I do know that I have mixed feelings about it though.
  18. What you say may have some truth to it. Could you explain how exactly he is fudgeing the numbers? I mean, just saying he is doesn't really clarify the matter. This thread however is about arrests being made, that really doesn't constitute racism. We've seen the black community make such claims many times and those claims are dismissed generally as a feeble form of "hail Mary pass" in order to save face and reputation. As well, these claims are usually made to silence opposition who point out unsavory facts about those in question.
  19. I don't see how comparing crime rates in different communities can be considered racist. As for racism I'm afraid I've heard more name calling and innuendos from Jennie and Posit than anyone else here. Using the loose definition of both a case could be made that they are very racist indeed. The numbers simply don't lie, though some would like it to be so.
  20. I disagree, can you say Third Reich?
  21. That is possible I suppose, very unlikely though. As was pointed out, all engineered specs are kept on file. If it were shown that inferior materials that did not meet spec were used the General Contractor would be liable to criminal prosecution. Having said that, who can guarantee what some yahoo will decide to do with a job. Out here Volker Stevin handles the highway contracts, having worked with them on several occasions I can state that they maintain a very high standard. I'm not sure who has the contract in Ontario though. This industry is carefully scrutinized, we maintain high production standards as well as high safety standards. We're COR certified though so we don't have much choice. If we don't maintain these standards we lose our COR certification and are shut out of many jobs.
  22. Those guys were pouring in the dead of winter! Holy sh*t! No wonder the concrete flaked and cracked. You just cant pour when it's below freezing unless you have a method to allow the concrete to cure without freezing. There was a collapse up in the oilfields. Three Chinese guys were killed if I recall correctly, I think they were building big steel storage tanks. I never did hear the results of the investigation though. I'll have to find out if criminal charges were laid. Thats something else that has changed. If you injure or kill someone through negligence they will now lay criminal charges. Some of the cases I've seen have involved fines and jail time. The fines are pretty heavy now too. Anywhere from 250,000 to 1 million dollars. As far as I'm concerned it's an excellent move. It may help get rid of some of the more fly by night operators.
  23. Well, you wont be getting any argument from me on that point. By the way, are you an idoit or an idiot?
  24. Wow, that was a long post. Lots of speculation, very very little knowledge of the subject. The metal reinforcement as you put it is called rebar. There are no different grades of rebar, it's all the same, made from melted down scrap. Thats why when you cut it sometimes it cuts quite easily and other times it's a real bitch to cut. Generally for overhead structures you use 15 mil with a 16 inch spacing. The concrete is inspected thoroughly before it's accepted. It must contain between 5 to 8% air to be acceptable. The engineers who design and inspect structures are always independant of the construction company. This is to ensure that no violations of code occur that would favour the general contractor. A concrete structure will degrade over time, entropy can not be denied. Polution from internal combustion engines will actually hasten this degradation. You cant expect a heavily used artificial structure to stand intact forever. As for your comments about fat old guys in pick up trucks, well, you're wrong. You make sweeping generalizations backed by pure speculation about an industry you obviously have no knowledge of. It's a hell of a lot more technical than you think actually.
  25. Well I'll be! You're right Kends, I went to the GrannyRantsON site and it is Jennie. You can tell right away. What was interesting is the way she presents the whole Gualttieri (sp?) story. It's quite a bit different from what she's stated here. I do believe that I've expressed doubts as to her motives before though, as when I mentioned that she always refers to herself in the familiar when she talks about Native culture. Jennie, did you never read any Shakespeare? You know, the bit about "oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to decieve".It's very true you know, the Bard had amazing insight into people and what motivates them.
