Oh, okay, sorry. Well we all know what happens, it's happened before. The strong and adamant culture will absorb the weaker one. In Canada we are becoming a very weak culture. It seems there are less and less people who would be willing to fight for their country with each passing year.

I find his move to shut down radio and T.V. stations that didn't support him is the Hallmark of true democracy. Chavez is no more than another in a long line of South American dictators, certainly no heroic liberator of the masses. Yeah, stuff is cheap in Venezuela compared to here. They don't make a tenth of what the average person here does either, so there goes the big price advantage. Besides, every time you walk down the street you take a chance of being shot. The last time I was there my friend offered to let me use his spare gun for the duration of my stay. It was inconceivable to him that anyone would go outside without being armed. One of our guys was shot through the chest, the cops laid something like a hundred and twenty charges against him. Multiple counts of this and that. Nice place indeed. We had to mount an actual op to get him out or he'd still be rotting down there.

I would hope not. It's good to defend ones culture, up to a certain point. Going beyond that undefined point starts one on the path to zealotry and fanatasiscm. Do we really want to bring ourselves down to that level? I believe if we were to do that we would be changing our culture completely and as such wouldn't really be defending it at all.

Actually I don't believe I did any of what you accuse all of us of. I did point out that you were wrong about Canada not having any oil or any strategic importance. I also called terrorists thugs, and I stand by that. I don't believe I slandered your prophet or religion, even though from a personal perspective I find them both to be as baseless as I do any organized religion. Actually we had a discussion about honour before. Many of the responses dealt with fighting over a perceived or imagined slight or insult. Very few touched upon the fact that honour is also doing the right thing, no matter the consequence. Self sacrifice in the service of others is a key component of an honourable person. My personal perception of honour leans toward the latter and has almost nothing to do with avenging some insult or slight. I'm afraid the concept of honour has fallen out of fashion today. Those who claim to be honourable mostly refer to it in the punitive sense. You make some good points in your post Bill.

Thats a good question. It's a shame but someone else has pointed out already that the distrust and resentment created in this community may already be too great for any resolution in the near future. I think it will be quite a while if ever before Caledonia and six nations can move forward. I dont think there will ever any significant depth of trust for the people involved.
